Duracell Coppertop

I bought a pack of 24 AAA batteries with a long expiration date, 4 of them went bad. I wrote to Duracell, including pictures of the batteries and how they were stored and received back an unsatisfactory response. I went to use some more batteries today and another 4 were useless. 60% have been non usable. My advice would be to “ never buy Duracell batteries again “ go somewhere else

I have been buying this brand for ages but in the past few years the quality has fallen down dramatically I now avoid this brand as they only seem to last several weeks. What is going on with the quality. The quality has disappeared. Have duracell checked the reliability or are they just relying on their previous history.

Like stated many times already, these batteries leak with normal use. If you value your appliances, and don't want to spend time you don't have cleaning up the mess with vinegar, then don't bother with this brand.

Trusred brand gone bad – Selling rubbish batteries. Stay clear of Duracell. Duracell are selling batteries with a 10 year shelf life that leak after 3 years. Got a bulk pack AA batteries in 2021, leaked by 2024, 4 were still in storage, another 4 in were in use. All leaked at same time. like others, 1 remote and a power monitor corroded.

Duracell guaranteed to leak – If you want to use Duracell, make sure to remove after use. They are guaranteed to leak. The quality is so bad it is not worth buying the big pack as they will leak in storage.

Terrible product/ even worst customer service – Bought durcell batterys for years then all the sudden I bought a pack of defective batterys and my deer camera exploded almost caused my house to go on fire! not the same quality as it was years ago – batteries do not last as long as was a few years ago. bad for leaking which destroy items which can cost a lot of money and hassle. look at other brands available

Useless rubbish. Leak badly – Not possible to give 0 stars. Agree with comments from others. So far I have lost a $1000 fluke multimeter, a number of remote controllers, and torches due to these rubbish batteries leaking. I never used to have this problem. Don’t know how they get away with charging premium prices when even Coles home brand is better. Have been going to Woolies to buy Energiser as they are not available at local Coles. STEER CLEAR OF DURACELL.

Leak Like a Sieve – Duracell used to be the battery of choice. In the last two years a pair of AAAs destroyed a $700 wind metre and a pair of AAs killed a $400 set of Peltor noise cancelling ear protectors. Steer well clear or remove the batteries when you stow your equipment … or by some enoloop rechargeables and move on. Duracell credited me $100 for the $700 wind metre, after battle. So much for their guarantee.

Duracell lost it's way when profit panic came before product – We have used Duracell for a long time, in fact have used multiple brands, but Duracall was the top of the charts and sold at a premium and so we preferred the brand. all of the sudden started to see them leak (never ever have I seen that before with Duracell). Used them on and off since but have now vowed to never use again. I had AA's in a TV remote which sat in there for about 18 months. Casually checking I found leaking alkaline inside the remote and corrosion. Not the first time this has been experienced. If Duracell happens to read this, perhaps take a look, at what the "energized" family do as their variety doesn't leak and therefore this is why you have lost us.

Just dont buy them - they leak and destroy your electronics – I go remote camping and used both Energiser and Duracell. I buy large packs and thought the brands to be about equal. On several occasions when I went to use the batteries they had leaked after being in storage or devices for a few years ( but still well in the use-by date). torches and walkie talkies. I can't recall the Energisers having any problems, even when stored alongside the Durcells and even older. I saw a couple of reviews about Duracells leaking with the same issues. It looks like it has been a problem for some time.

I decided to throw away all my Duracell batteries and never buy them again. How a premium brand can let this go for so long is beyond me.

Terrible – What happened to Duracell? They leak inside their packet years before expiry, they barely run any electronics I put them in and they get outlasted by no name brands. Goodbye Duracell!

Lack performance and power – Duracell was once a well known and trusted brand of battery that had the power to run your devices. For example I own a wall clock with a pendulum that requires one c cell battery to power the clock and pendulum. Duracell does not have enough power to do both. Swapped to Energizer and there is no issue with performance. Will no longer be buying Duracell.

Not what they used to be – Like 'Deano' I used batteries in my job. Years ago we had an instrument that used a 4.5v battery, just a bit bigger than AA. Energiser first up, even when we specifically requested Duracell and specifically said Energiser were NBG! Hence this rigmarole was repeated every few years. As a result, I would always use Duracell for everything, at work and at home, whenever I could. Then a few years ago they introduced the 'Ultra'. I bought a box of 9v batteries from 'Duracell Direct' for smoke alarms etc. They all leaked well within their date, many stopped working after a few months, many leaked before being used. Should be called Ultra Hopeless. Come off the grass, Mr Duracell! Or do you want us all to use Energiser??

Duracell is poor quality – Several devices we have, in different temperatures and humidity levels had leaking batteries. Duracell just gives you the runaround when you tell them. Anything to avoid customer service and holding on to existing business. Just check your items if you have it installed. Particularly where safety is concerned. Do not trust their products.

10 year guarantee - all leak after less than 4 years – I've had several packs of these batteries. They've all started leaking after less than four years in storage, when the guarantee is 10. Have never had problems with any other battery brand, just Duracell.

duracell batteries all leaks – Regardless of the power and lifetime, Duracell coppertop battery is the worst battery due to leaking problem. So far almost over 90% my Duracell AAA, AA leaked before end of life. Never had problem with Energizer. I am totally disappointed with Duracell, they only did excellent job in advertising it. Eventually all customers will learn and leave.

been getting complaints about leaking Duracells, the guy denied any complaints had been made, so it's a relief to read many people here have had the same problems with them leaking. My experience with alerting the manufacturer to problems with their products is that modern management dictates they are to deny any problems exist and hope you won't notice. So I have chosen to ignore Duracell and buy 'no-name' batteries which last far longer and don't leak!

Absolute rubbish – Like all the other reviews on here duracell have leaked and destroyed everything from my remote controls to maglites costing big $ . Some of the remotes are no longer available (stay clear at all costs),they don’t deserve 1 star.

Poor performance – 4 AA batteries test fine for voltage external to my camera flash gun but indicates flat in flash gun. Will not even charge the capacitor for a single flash. Checked batteries in another flash gun. Same result. Both flash guns work fine with other batteries.

Gone from good to rubbish – Duracell batteries where good once but have changed to rubbish over the years. You can guarantee that they will leak and damage the equipment they are in. I am a retired electronics engineer and used them for many years but I have now removed them from all my equipment because of this problem

service and sounds like it is being run by some backyard organisation. I would definitely avoid purchasing Duracell and maybe stick to Energizer to avoid warranty issues...

Duracell Batteries Leak!!! – Don’t buy Duracell Batteries if you want to keep your appliances. Every time I decide to trust them again I get disappointed, they just leak everywhere and distroy whatever they are put into. Latest leakage, 2 x AA with a 2024 expiration date, it is only 2018!!!! I have not experienced this with any other brand of battery. I would recommend using Energizer for a quality battery.

Another dead torch – Purchased a pack of 30 AA Duracell Coppertop batteries (expiry March 2024). Batteries were in one of my relatively expensive Olight torches for 4 months; the batteries weren't flat yet they still leaked and killed the torch. Duracell have offered to pay compensation for the torch and on the remaining batteries This is the second torch that I have lost due to leaking Duracell batteries, not prepared to loose another third.

Leak and kill appliances – This is now my 4th leakage makes a hell of a mess on the Remote battery holders. not happy. Bunnings, Varta batteries (made in Germany) cheaper than Energizer, batteries last 3 times longer. Have not had any leak in 6 years or so. Energizer guarantee theirs will not leak.

Dead battery straight out of the packet – I bought a 8 pack of 9v Duracell Coppertops with a supposed 5 year guaranteed storage and the first one I got out of the packet after about 1 year in the cupboard was as dead as a doornail. Tried the next 3 in the top section of the packaging and they have very little power,.almost none. The date on the battery is March 2019.

the last 2 years. Don't know where they are now manufactured, but suggest you check your quality control. I have always used Duracell as they used to be best on market, but not again.
