Overall: I own 4 Dyson Vacuum cleaners. One DC16 Rechargeable and 3 Mains powered - a DC08, a DC26 and in fact I just bought the new DC41 Ball. All of the mains powered cleaners are fantastic but the Rechargeable is a piece of junk.
I couple of years ago, I purchased a DC16 Motorhead rechargeable Vacuum Cleaner. This particular unit has been a massive disappointment - essentially due to the extremely poor battery life. Dyson sent me a new Battery but that didn't change anything. I never get 3 minutes worth of use before the red light starts flashing and it cannot be used any more. It has been like this since new. I want to buy a new DC35 Animal but my reluctance is based on the poor performance of my DC16 - there's no way I am investing another $400 for a unit to just sit in the charging stand never to be used (like the DC16) because I can't get long enough use out of it. If Dyson have trust in their products, then I would hope that they would buy back my DC16 and sell me a DC35 for the difference in price, especially since I am the owner of 4 of their cleaners.
Overall: Dyson should be ashamed, they know of all the problems with the DC16 and they still con people into buying a new battery ($54.99 + delivery) and when that does not work they recommend you take it to their service department at Tarren Point to get it looked at ($45 + parts) it may either be the power supply/charger or the switch?
I will not spend another cent on this rubbish machine!
I googled 'problems with Dyson DC16' and guess how many hits I got? 20,500 and everyone cites the same problems..........meanwhile they are making a fortune off unsuspecting saps, by selling spare parts! Don't buy one!
Overall: Incredibly powerful, convenient design. Quick to charge. Perfect for cleaning up after messy kids! Kids love it so much they fight over who gets to use it.
Pros: I find this very handy and it matches the bigger Dyson I have (but use less with this little guy)
Cons: It is expensive and the battery could be a longer lasting after a charge.
Overall: I have found his to be a very handy little tool around the house. I generally keep it on the charger as it only last maybe 10 mins and take hours and hours to recharge.
Pros: is evenly weighed out, easy to empty, same sorta filter that gets replaced if it gets to tatty after washing it for a few years. fantastic with a 2 year warranty. great after sales service
Cons: only lasts 6 mins. holding it at an awkward angle will sometimes result in some dust or larger objects coming out of where the dust and dirt go in.
Overall: over all a fantastic little machine! its a shame it only lasts 6 mins wish i had waited for the newer models that are out now that have boost and lasts longer as well as having a better motor head on it that adjusts to the angle of the surface instead of having to move the whole machine in an awkward position. also the new one lasts 10-12 mins which i think is great. still dont have any regrets having this one as it was a gift from my partner.
Here's a list of questions other people have asked about Dyson DC16
Our Dyson DC16 battery life gives a max run time of 60-90 seconds before it requires recharge. Is this normal? Machine was purchased many months ago and is out of warranty. A busy work/life meant asking a question was always put back and not asked.
