Don't waste your money – This Dyson stick vacuum is a total waste of money. It works for about 20 seconds then stops. I contacted Dyson and they told me to change the filters. I bought new ones - same issue. I have 2 batteries that I interchange and the battery lasts for about 20 seconds, stop, then start, cut in out and then die completely after about a total of 2 minutes. I can't believe this product costs so much and is so bad Show details

So reliable! – I’ve had mine for over 8 years and it’s had a real workout! In my 2bd apartment, it was the sole vacuum. It’s now in a house and still used regularly. After all this time, it’s just needing a new battery, which I can pick up online for $60. An amazing investment and when this eventually becomes no good, I’ll be sure to replace with the same. Show details

Good but must clean out Turbo head at the rotating ball area very well – Must clean the rotating head regularly as dog or cat hair can build up in the ball area. This will stop the motor so it won’t overheat. Also make sure filter is completely DRY after washing. Show details ·  1

Strong, reliable, had it for years – I have moved from the home we had when we first bought our DC35 animal, in which we had bamboo and tile floors with Persian rugs and now have newer bamboo and tile floors with the same rugs. Great on both surfaces. For the rugs I use a silicone rake first and then the Dyson and that works fine. I have always washed the barrel and filters and… Read more

removed any buildup of hairs etc in the rotating head. I also clean the battery contacts and haven’t had any problems there either. Stopping rotation while cleaning signalled to me that I needed to perform a maintenance clean on the head. I am still using the vacuum but had to have the motor replaced after I dropped it in the sink while cleaning it :o( Replacement cost $110 and it was a very smooth experience. We can’t speak highly enough of the Dyson brand. I can’t remember when we bought it but it must be more than 6 years ago (12/2019 now).

Still going strong – I have a small cottage so this was perfect for daily quick vaccs of my house...after about two years the battery started to die but my hubby found a replacement battery and it works like new again ! Dyson should be well known for their reliability – I've always been very happy with the customer service at dyson. One of the best I have dealt with for a big brand. Our journey with Dyson started with the V8 model so our first impression of the brand was flawless. We since then purchased 3 other older generation dysons for giveaway presents after cleaning them out thoroughly, noting the… Read more

continued reliability and innovative design. Theres something special about undoing all the parts and seeing the magic of Dyson inside. Now when we goto see our family they have always just vaccumed before our baby starts crawling everywhere because they don't have to plug it in.

We picked up this model for a bargain at $90 with all of the attachments.

The battery still worked fine, 1200mah high drain sony 18650 cells. Didn't seem to run too long on max originally but after purchasing a $40 aftermarket battery(2000mah) it goes and goes and goes even on max. We also got an aftermarket filter for less than $10. The motorised tools work quite well. You eventually figure out that you shouldn't be vacuuming bread ties.... I like the v6 slim we have better than this model and price wise with a new battery the v6 slim is the better option at the moment its easier to maintain as well. It was a bit tricky to unwind all of the hair and string off the dc35 motorised tools and has since been reenginered to perfection.

Another great feature of this model is the interchangeable batteries, no screws to undo to change the battery. Ps just a tip for people cleaning theirs out, if youre going to use soap, you may need to use antistatic wipes to minimise the dust sticking to things. You can make a home made antistatic solution out of toxic fabric softener but we decided to choose use an expensive witch hazel exctract solution for our electronics (found in the beauty isle).

would not buy a dyson again – My vacuum is about 3 to 4 years old. Been having trouble for 2 years. Use on carpet as well lino. Fully charged, lasts no longer than 5 mins. If you pull vacuum backwards the brush stops turning, have to move charging cord around until green light comes on for charging. I am a age pensioner, thought Dyson had a good name and stick vacuum was light and easy to use. I would not recommend it. Could have bought something better for the money Show details

Not worth the money – I purchased 2 of these stock vacuums so I wouldn’t have to move between up and downstairs only to find after 2 years it keeps stopping every few seconds of vacuuming. battery??? After spending so much on these vacuums that’s very unfair. Furthermore the suction is not the best as I have to go over things several times or place vacuum directly on top to catch things. Dyson - more hype in the brand that’s quality unfortunately . The batteries are no good – We use it for hardwood, a little carpet and small rugs. The vacuum itself is working well. Has good suction, it is the batteries that are the problem. They are $100 dollars each, I have two machines and both have had problems with the batteries lasting more than a year or so. They are kept charged in the rack as per instructions. Show details

Garbage product. Do not buy – After spending more money than other comparable vacuums, I have to say the Dyson was the worst investment ever. What a waste of money – Hi, I have a Dyson DC35, have owned it for 3 years now do I understand I Am out of warranty to my dismay. I am having a lot of trouble with it. When fully charged it will run for about 1 minute then turn off, as I take my finger off the button and push back down it will start again but this time for about 30 seconds. It continues to do this… Read more

another 3 or 4 times before the machine turns off and I have to wait about a minute before it will work again, but then only lasts about 10 seconds.

I have completely pulled the vacuum apart and cleaned everything including the filter. I’ve watched a number of YouTube videos to try and fix it also. One suggested scratching the battery pads with a scourer but this also hasn’t helped.

Also, the boost button isn’t even an option, as soon as I press it the vacuum cuts out.

So disappointed, I was paying for the name and reputation that Dyson usually has but in this case then she did not live up to it reputation.

I’ve already emailed you my concerns so don’t bother writing back telling me to do so.

I just want people to be aware that the stick vaccums are only made to last the warranty period before they stop working.

Will NEVER buy another Dyson..

that they no longer make batterys for this model (sad face).

The options are and I quote "We no longer make the battery that fits your DC35, in which case you would need to purchase the new style battery ( $76) and a main body ($105). " so now Im either going to be out of pocket more than expected. quoted from a CS rep from Dyson via email. Or they can offer me 25% off the RRP $799 for a V8 animal which would come down to $599.25.

Why would I buy the V8 when its not the current model and if something happens with this one within 2 years, I will be in the same poition again. Interestingly you can buy the V8 Animal on major known retailers for LESS than $599, so I dont see how this is a "discount"

Surely companies must have to supply parts for a prodcut thats 2 year old ??

Worked great and then died won't charge – I own 2 Dyson cleaners.. a standard vac and and a stick so that's almost $1000 in vacuum cleaners. It's now just suddenly died and the charger light won't come on. I just googled the… Read more

fault and noticed many other owners of the DC35 also have the exact same issues... I realise everything has a shelf life but it seems too coincidental that lots of posts have the exact same battery issues. Surely this isn't isolated and not due to mis-use or neglect... come on Dyson these cleaners are expensive ... so I take it now that I risk paying $100 for a new battery but by reading posts (and Dysons website), this model is actually discontinued ...so my rolls Royce Dyson stick vac is only good for the bin... do I now outlay $500 again or buy a vax instead. Bases on other comments I can't see how Dyson could stop Making genuine parts for a cleaner that is still relatively new but mor importantly a product owned by millions of people....or has Dyson stoped making this model because of the faults?

Expensive and Disappointed, Poor Customer Service - DC35 by Dyson – Like many Dyson Customers I am another unfortunate one who from purchase have experienced the DC35 intermittently shutting off, poor suction, and floor/carpet tool not working stop/start. Good performance with ease of use – I used a Hoover Ultra Light before which had a 'continuous' mode and 20 minutes of running time on full charge. The Dyson falls short on these fronts. But is works good on wooden floor as well as carpets. The suction is good. It is also easy to clean post usage.
