This vacuum cleaner is good for value. I have used it for a long time, ten years +, and it's still working well – My carpet floor is cleaned well but not as good as high power vacuum cleaner. I don't have tipping over issues. The cable is still recoiled well into the machine after many years. Show details

A great purchase – This vacuum works well. I think that the people who don't like it are just too lazy to clean filters. I have used ones with bags that need emptying all the time. The suction is great and it cleans my carpets and hard floors amazingly. I have tried lots of vacuums but this one was great. Good suction

Non stop problems since purchase – It has now stopped totally and we cant work out whats wrong with it. We have always cleaned the filters and looked after it properly. A complete waste of money. Disappointed as we have other electrolux products which are great and would have expected more. Do not buy, should have been recalled and refunde.

Terrible – I wouldn't give this cleaner away. The design is poor - dust clogs the mechanism before it even travels into the dust collection compartment. If you're picking up things like spilt uncooked rice there's no problem - it rattles around the circular chute at the top and drops nicely in to the collection compartments. But vacuuming carpets - the dust… Read more

gathers , consolidates and chokes the chute. This has to be the worst designed vacuum cleaner on record. I can't rank a cleaner that doesn't fulfil its core function - I liked nothing - well it looks good It just doesn't work

Terrible – Have only had it for 3 months but had to go and buy another expensive vaccuum today SO DEPRESSED. If I had had the money i spent on that I could have had something fantastic. I will never buy electrolux or bagless again. A nightmare. Paid $300 for it. the container is extremely difficult to empty really have to get your hands in there to… Read more

unwind the dust and hair.YUCK. gets full very quickly and filter gets clogged. Scrubbed and scrubbed at the filter with a toothbrush and all sorts of cleaning products(Tried to buy another filter but very hard to source and apparently about $80 each) but it never comes properly clean so can't believe it is really doing anything. 2 storied house was impossible to do at 1 time as had to wait for filter and dust container to dry after washing.

Terrible – I would not waste your money. It's a disappointing product coming from Electrolux. I ended up selling it privately at a huge loss and buying the Electrolux Ultra Silencer which for an extra $65 dollars on top of the Accelerator (paid $345) it was well worth it! It's overall build is A1 quality and I cannot comment enough about it's performance.… Read more

Don't buy a bagless vacuum cleaner in particular this one! I finally have the vacuum cleaner I originally wanted! Per the other comments, a nightmare! I went to Retravision to buy an Electrolux Silencer Deluxe and there was none in stock. So the salesperson who obviously only cared about his sales talked me into the bagless Accelerator at $280. I was hesitant as I was not set on a bagless vacuum cleaner - money was not an option. Buying vacuum bags has always been 'normal' and the thought of emptying a dusty canister did not appeal. The salesperson assured me it was quick and easy and soon everyone will have bagless. So the dramas began. It wasn't as easy it says! It was messy and dusty and the filter requires a good brush out every 2-3 vacuums. I had to pick all the carpet fibres out of the filter (new carpet). At one point, the inner casing wasn't twisted enough so the canister lid wouldn't go on and I had to take it to an Electrolux dealer to figure this out. If you are hugely against spending money on bags and don't mind getting down and dirty cleaning out a canister, then this is the vacuum for you.

Terrible – Why didn't I read these reviews first? Why is this machine still stocked? Why did I think I could rely on Electrolux's good name? Silly, silly me. I think Electrolux should recall these machines and give every 'sucker' who bought one a refund. Will probably throw it in the bin and save up for a Dyson. as per every other review I've read so far… Read more

this machine is CRAP.

Loses suction instantly after cleaning - we have a couple of rugs on wooden floors so shouldn't be a problem... Stuff gets clogged at top, filter takes about two days to dry if you dare wash it - otherwise requires my neighbour's air gun to clean it! I washed the blue cylindrical filter then put it near the woodstove to dry as, funnily enough I needed to get the house cleaned all in one day, and the damn thing melted slightly -just enough to never fit back in again. Have tracked down replacement but at $30 I don't think I'll bother wasting my money.

Terrible – Waste of materials making the thing. Blocks, NO suction, hard to clean, makes your back ache. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! Too much to list. $265 wasted dollars.

Good – No idea why every other reviewer hates this vacuum so much. Apart from having to clean the filter regularly ( which is annoying but easy ) it works great. I've had it for over 2 years and have put it through some pretty heavy use and it still works fine. no plans on replacing it any time in the near future. simple, robust, cheap vacuum that does a great job filters require cleaning after almost every use

Terrible – Wouldn't even give mine away to charity because I didn't want some poor mug have to suffer through the same problems as me. Kept the attatchments and took it to the dump. Disappointed with Electrolux because I've had older models last for 10 years of more giving faithful and reliable service. Would give it no rating if possible. It looks good… Read more

(suckerbait). Just about everything. This vacuum is hopeless, it has low suction and is effectively useless for cleaning a typical home. I tried to wash the HEPA filter but it disintegrated. Emptying the canister is messy.

Terrible – My family has had electroluxes for years so when my cleaner I died I bought an accelerator second hand - good price. Big mistake - and I wish I'd read the reviews before I did so. The machine has to be unblocked after every single use. I took it in to a specialist shop for a service - the man confirmed my worst fears - it's a design lemon he said!… Read more

I cannot believe the product wasn't recalled. The way the dust travels in to the machine provides a perfect bottlenesck for it to clog. And clog it does. One star for its looks. Nothing else going for it. It's a nice looking machine It doesn't work!

I have had a dream run with ours, works just fine. Wow if you are having that much problems with the filter clogging, your house must be a mess.

Terrible – Don't buy it. The shop was happy to take it back as just about every one they had sold had come back as well. The shop took it back! A total nightmare. It would stick a bit on the floor when pushing it around unless you held it at exactly the right angle. The suction was hopeless from the first use. The dustbin looked easy to empty in the pictures… Read more

but the reality was very different. All of the dust gets trapped in the inner chamber and doesn't go through to the main compartment for easy emptying. You have to pull it out with your fingers - very, very messy!

Terrible – This is the worst vacuum I have ever owned, do not buy it and if it's too late and you have already made the mistake then take it back before it's too late! I also advise you to contact Electrolux so they can be made aware of the issues with this product. Electrolux agreed to exchange it. I needed a new vacuum cleaner and wanted to buy a bagless… Read more

vacuum cleaner in the mindset that it would be more environmentally friendly. I came across this vacuum cleaner at a reasonable price and thinking Electrolux was a good brand went ahead and bought it without researching it first (big mistake!!). It seemed to work reasonably well on the first use (in a small house with short carpet & timber floor) but by the second use the suction was essentially non existant. I took all the filters out and cleaned them (this taking a good half an hour or so) and after leaving them to dry tried again. Suction lasted for about 2 minutes before rapidly disappearing, this was on quite clean carpets that get vacuumed once a week. The dirt does not get sucked into the dirt catcher it gets stuck in the top chamber and clogs the vacuum! Such a poor design and very disappointing.. To make things worse, I had lost my receipt so couldn't take it back. The upside to all this however is that upon stumbling across the receipt 6 months or so down the track (I had been using a ancient old second hand vacuum cleaner in the meantime). I contacted Electrolux via email and after explaining the situation they offered to exchange it for a different model (not of my choice however, it was a bagged model which wasn't what I set out to get, but certainly better than being stuck with the Accelerator). The customer service representative I corresponded with was extremely helpful although they did state that they had heard no reports of anyone else having problems with this model, of which I am a little surprised about after reading everyones responses on here.
