Just died for no reason – As with all other reviewers on here, mine also just died out of the blue. No power and not planning on spending $600 bucks for it to fail again shortly. I'll spend my money with another brand this time around. Show details
Highly unrecommendable!! – I purchased the Electrolux Iron aid and I am having the same issues as below, poor customer service and the main power board just stopped working for no reason. Apparently $600+ to be fixed, would be cheaper to just buy a bloody brand new one that would be more reliable and would last more than 5 years. They have discounted this crappy product and… Read more
for all those people who have had this issue are going to have to go out and buy a new one or spend over $600 and get the part fixed. Electrolux, do something.
Has been a great dryer – I purchased this dryer in 2012 and have used it ALOT over the years. After reading others reviews I think we just got lucky and got a very good dryer that I have no complaints over. The steam function has been fantastic and Ive never had a problem with it not drying my clothes as others have mentioned. We got the extended warranty and did have a… Read more
call out to replace the belt a couple of years ago. For the last few weeks its been making a weird noise when it gets started, and I knew the end was near. Now its not turning on at all. It lasted 6 years and 3 months of regular use, so I am pretty happy with that. Based on the costs provided here to fix it, I'm not going to bother repairing. On to something new now.
Expensive piece of Junk after 5yrs – As with preceding reviews, after light use over 5 yrs this dryer ceased working, no power, not turning on, just died for no particular reason...except its a faulty product. Same deal to repair, call out $150.00 paid plus a $600 quote to fix. Expensive and looked great when new, unfortunately its now a lovely looking piece of rubbish after 5 yrs.… Read more
Prior to this Electrolux was my favourite brand for mid-high end whitegoods, as I see this problem is widespread & little support has been provided by Elextrolux, Im thinking I was misguided and Electrolux is in fact a supplier of low end, unreliable, disposable (if rather good looking) appliances. Based on this I experience won't buy them again.
Won't turn on after 5 years, too expensive to fix – Same as other reviews, this dryer served us well for 5 years but has now died and won't switch on, quoted over $500 to fix, not worth it. When will companies realise that consumers are sick of creating landfill and are prepared to pay a lot more for a quality item that will last longer. Sorry Electrolux you have lost our business forever. Show details
DOES NOT TURN ON ANYMORE – As per all the other reviews here. After 4 years of use and only once a month during winter, this dryer doesn't turn on anymore. Power circuit board doesn't work and for no apparent reason. Electrolux said it needs a $145 call out fee and new CPU worth $199 and $289. (all up $633) Unbelievable, when we purchased it for $900. They were adamant… Read more
this was the cause and this is what it needed to be repaired. DON'T BUY AN ELECTROLUX DRYER!, they use the same parts and only update the covers. Time to call Consumer Affairs and get this company to recall these dryers. They should of done it years ago, instead they prefer to make more money on replacing poorly designed parts.
Control board dead... like many others here – Going along with the general theme of others on this thread, I've owned the Electrolux EDI97170W since 2012, and the main control board seems to have died. It seems that it's probably not worth fixing, but instead buying a new dryer from someone like Bosch or another more reputable brand. Very disappointing to see so many negative comments here. stopped working – Stopped working after 4 years. Exact same issue as the others. Power circuit 973916096464094 broke just like all the others. This should have been recalled as it is an obvious design issue. I won't be buying Electrolux again and will recommend others against it. The part was $253 and call out fee. An extra $500 down the drain plus 1 week without dryer. Show details
Unreliable and poor after sales support from Electrolux – When operational this dryer is fine. It dries well, is pretty quiet and doesn't heat up the room too much. However.... I bought the dryer in June 2012, in November 2015 the main circuit board failed and needed to be replaced. So we did that and now 13 months later the dryer has died again. So $145 service fee later we find that the same… Read more
main circuit board needs to be replaced (1 month post spare part warranty!!!). So we are up for a new board, again.
Ok, I work in IT, I know hardware fails so $250 to fix a $900 dryer is not ideal, but is acceptable to me. But, they don't have the part in stock and it will take 2.5 months to get it in. 2.5 months!!!
When I asked why it would take so long to get in they said that it was "coming from overseas". I know Australia is isolated, but last I checked we were no more than a 36 hour flight from anywhere in the world. Where are Electrolux getting this part from? Kazakhstan by boat!!! Support couldn't say. They just said that's how long it would take and we should just buy a new dryer. And to add insult to injury they offer a $80 "loyalty" voucher if we buy a new Electrolux dryer. On what planet would I consider buying a dryer from Electrolux given this experience. Certainly a pitiful $80 voucher is not going to persuade me to remain "loyal" to Electrolux.
Sorry, a $900 dryer should last more than 4.5 years. Especially after one of the main pieces of electronics has already been replaced. My advice to you is to avoid this dryer and avoid Electrolux.
Dead dryer – Same case here! Just stop responding and no display at all. We use it just couple of months in winter season. Now I regret paying 2,5 times bigger price than some entry level models. Iron aid is not as good as it looks in the store. We use it twice just to discover trere is not any revolution. Show details
Do Not Buy!! All Bad Reviews Are True!! Edi97170w – I used mine for 4 years with the same problem - 3hrs of drying time and clothes are still moist. Dryer stopped working a month ago and I rang electrolux for repair and they charged $145 to assess and repair plus parts. The quote then came out to be near $800 to repair it plus parts. It costs the same to buy a new one from another brand!… Read more
Electrolux is a dud, don't waste your money like me. Not sure why it's still selling, should be removed from the market.
Problems with Electrolux EDI97170W No Display – I purchased this unit back in late 2012.It has had little use ,. . and no problems until now July 2016. The problem that I have is no display of control panel. The unit was drying when a hot smell was evident and the display had gone out , the unit was switched off. Obvious Issues & Should Be Recalled or Fixed For Free! – We too have unfortunately fallen victim of this Electrolux Dryer. It was working until it decided to stop spinning and rotating altogether. It still heats up but is useless since it will not spin. Ours is only 4 years old and given the fact that there have been numerous issues regarding this model with little to no resolution, I suspect someone… Read more
needs to be held accountable for an inferior product and adequate and timely free repairs. They should be recalled or at the least fixed for free. This is a huge problem when all of the dryers coincidentally all stop working soon after the warranty expires. Someone please step up and do the right thing.
I find it puzzling that every other post on here but mine has had a response from an Electrolux Official Why is that?

Was loving it ! – Was loving this dryer since 2012 but only just yesterday it died in the middle of a cycle. After reading these reviews it seems I am not alone with this problem. Not a good problem to have in the middle of winter and can't afford a new one right now. Our matching Electrolux washing machine's heat pump also died 2 years ago. Unfortunately we have not had the best luck with Electrolux.

Disappointing Main Board Blows Second Time – Hi purchased this dryer as it was a trusted brand 6 months in and the dryer simply wouldn't power up the main board was replaced under warranty. Few years later board is dead again, quoted around $300 to repair. Reading other reviews it seems to be a common fault problem with this particular model
Worked for 2.5 years and then died. Not happy – We went shopping for a good tumble dryer that would last us many years and decided that we would spend extra to get a good brand with extra features. That brand is Electrolux. Machine worked great untill it died 2 weeks ago. Now the repair man has no idea what's wrong with it and now it looks like we have to pay 80% of the machines full value to… Read more
repair it.
Electrolux are unhelpful and suggest we repair it. However looking at the reviews here it seems to be a common issue. Not happy at all. We trusted in the reputation of Electrolux and paid a lot of money for a good machine and now we have been really let down.
Don't buy this brand as it seems this is a common issue and there is no help at all.

Very nice machine. But not cheap to recover – My wife and me were very happy with this dryer, it was doing its job very well. Many good modes. But after a bit more than 4 years just died, no lights on the control panel. I made a call to a repair center and the price seems to high. Anyway, even if it was a quite expensive machine, it ran well, about 3-4 times a week, I believe it is a good result.
Very disappointed 3 years for a very expensive dryer – A very expensive dryer to only run for 3 years. It seems many others have had a similar experience. The drum completely stopped turning inside our dryer and just make a rattling noise. After reading the other reviews of problems getting service I am concerned trying to repair the dryer could lead to more disappointment.

Three years old and dead already – I purchased the drier in 2012 and now three years later it does not switch on. I called support and was told it is out of warranty. 3 years worth at $947!! Not worth it at all - ED197170W – I had a condenser dryer for 12 years. Yes 12 years. It finally died in 2012. So I purchased the Electrolux ED197170W at a huge price. It has never dried my clothes properly. They were always damp when the cycle was finished. After three years, yes this last weekend, it just died. Doesn't switch on - nothing. Very very disappointed. filled out an extended warranty card with my credit card details and mailed it. Stupidly I never followed up on whether or not this was received by Electrolux. No one can trace it. Lost and gone, and $947 poorer with no dryer in Melbourne in winter. Needless to say, reading all these reviews, I am very reluctant to purchase a new one. I will call out a technician and see what he comes up with. Cannot even be bothered to try and go through Electrolux, as I'm not sure I will have any joy there, reading all these comments.

Worst Dryer Ever !! Poor Quality !! – Electrolux - thinking of you ............ I think not !! More like thinking of profit !! board and unplugged from the wall after every use! Further more within those 10 times the machine has possibly been used twice to actually dry clothes! This is totally unacceptable!! The machine now sit looking brand new not switching on. Most likely needing an overpriced PCB board, because a $2 part in it has failed. This is a common problem with these machines a quick search on any review site has many complaints about Electrolux's utter lack of quality. NEVER EVER BUY AN ELECTROLUX PRODUCT, they are not worth it at all!!! I feel terrible for those who bought the overpriced AEG version of this dryer !!

Electrolux customer service – It is appalling. I have been waiting 5 weeks now to have my issues resolved and it is costing me money. I took extended warranty insurance with Lumley. I have resolved not to EVER do this again. It is a painful and ongoing process. So Electrolux tell me that I should have taken the warranty with them. Not sure that would resolve the poor quality of the Dryer. Now they looking to replace it. I don't want another Electrolux appliance thank you.

Disappointing!!! – Bought this in Dec 2011. No problems with it, does what we need it to do. However, 2 weeks ago, it just died on us. Had it checked out and would cost us $500 to replace the "motherboard"!!!! As it's not a cheap machine, the shop said if it was theirs, they would repair it to sell it on. We are still undecided at the moment. Worked great when it was functioning. Nice looking, good functions. Did not last, life span under 3 years!!!

Another Electrolux Problem – I bought a rather expensive Electrolux dryer from Harvey Norman just over 2 years ago and of course just after the warranty runs out my $1000 dryer just stops working completely. to my predicament they want to charge me $50 travel because I live in Two Rocks. If I lived in Yanchep that is 2 minutes down the road I would not have to pay this unreasonable fee. Why do we get penalised when we are residents of the City of Wanneroo which is a Perth suburban council area ??? This means we need to pay $200 before we even get into paying for parts etc., it may cost more to fix than what it's worth. Not happy at all. It worked reasonably well when it was working. bad warranty service

Best. dryer. ever – I am one of those annoying people who tumble dry everything. Up until recently I had another brand dryer which was good, but I needed the extra capacity. This machine is amazing. the "wet wall" issue mentioned by some others.
The steam cycle is awesome. I have a sweater that always has a bit of an odd smell after it is worn once, just chuck it on the refresh cycle, 15 minutes later it is warm and odorless.
The only thing I am still getting used to (I am told this is a common thing with all condenser dryers, not just Electrolux), is that as soon as the clothes come out they feel moist, but aren't. Give them 10 minutes and this feeling goes away.
Lint filters easy to clean. Condenser unit easy to maintain. Water tank easy to empty. Prefect results when the right cycle is chosen. What more can you ask for?
Update: After numerous repairs - this dryer was refunded - Electrolux were painful to deal with. Smart, full of easy to use features, timer is pretty accurate, sensor drying, never have burnt things like I have had other tumble dryers do, steam settings are magic Often squeaks when in operation - super annoying - Electrolux's service was pathetic

Poor customer service – I purchased this machine from Retravision Ringwood which was closing down, I asked about extended warranty and they explained I needed to purchase it through Electrolux which was fine by me. I checked the warranty card inside the machine and it listed extended dryer warranty as $105.00. I sent the card off with payment but it was returned to me. … Read more
The warranty card had a handwritten and highlighted note on the top of it saying "Condenser Dryer $170". With the card was a generic letter addressed "Dear Customer". This letter had a variety of issues listed how I may have incorrectly filled out on the warranty card. Also with this letter, was a listing of extended warranty prices which showed the condenser dryer as $170. It turns out that Electrolux have changed their warranty prices which they are welcome to do but the way in which they communictated with me was discgraceful. I called them up to query why they're making me pay more when the warranty card I pulled out of the machine stated $105.
They explained that the condenser dryer costs more and they weren't able to update their paperwork in all their machines quickly enough. The woman on the other end even had the cheek to ask for a credit card payment of $170 three times while I was voicing my concern. Electrolux refused to honor the $105 payment no matter how much I argued and I makes me wonder how good the machine is if they need to push up the warranty price. I am so annoyed that I spent so much money on this machine and they still want to squeeze more out of me. I am still yet to extend the warranty as I'm so unhappy with them.
Note. Dryer died after less than 5 years use(It was in storage for 2 years). Had a quote to repair and was in excess of $500. Never again Electrolux. Absolute garbage.

A well designed, efficient machine – This condenser dryer is more efficient than I thought it would be. The drying times are equal or better than a vented type dryer, and the clothes come out softer, even without using the Iron Aid feature. For cottons & synthetics there are three dryness settings - Damp, Cupboard Dry and Extra Dry. Each one of these has a further three levels of… Read more
dryness - Minimum, Medium and Maximum, making a total of nine levels of dryness to choose from!
The dryer electronically senses the amount of moisture in the clothes as they touch the drum, and gives fairly consistent results from load to load.
The delicates setting takes longer but uses less power and a lower temperature which is good for items like cotton t-shirts where you want to keep shrinkage to a minimum.
Load size is sensed automatically (can be set manually on some settings) so setting up is quick – Turn knob to desired setting, select dryness level, close door and press start. The time remaining is shown on the display. In the first few minutes it’s approximate, but as the dryer senses the load size and moisture level it becomes more accurate.
Timed drying can also be used with the normal or delicates setting as well. The dryer switches to cool during the last 10 minutes of the cycle to reduce creasing.
The display is comprehensive and shows the moisture level animated as little drops of water that move about and has six levels. Six drops for wet, reducing as the clothes become dryer.
The display also shows all the options set for a cycle, and has an indicator that tells you when the water drawer needs emptying, which is not required if you run the drain tube into the laundry trough.
There's a light that comes on if the condenser unit needs cleaning, a reminder light to clean the lint filter and another that lets you know if the water tank for the steam refresh option needs refilling.
The interior light if useful and comes on when you open the door. If you leave the door open, the light automatically turns off after about a minute. The dryer also comes with a woollens and shoe drying rack.
There is a beeper that plays a tune when the cycle finishes, and can be turned on or off even while the dryer is running. A symbol in the display indicates if the beeper is on.
The door can be reversed so you can have left or right opening.
The dual filter system catches most of the lint and is easy to clean. Very little lint gets though into the condenser unit, which can be removed and rinsed clean. I checked the condenser unit after about 20 loads, and there was almost no lint in it.
The condenser unit is neatly tucked away behind an attractive grille and can be easily accessed by opening the door and pressing a button to open the grille.
Overall a well designed and efficient machine.
This dryer teems up well with our new Samsung WF1104XAC 10kg front loading washing machine.(See my review!) Quiet, efficient, advanced moisture sensing, Interior light.

The technology is so fantastic and is 1000 times better than the tumble dryers which suck too much electricity and damage your clothes.
After using both my friends Miele and this I would have to say the quality and drying capability of this machine is on par with the Miele and was less than half the price and in my opinion looks just as nice as the Miele and is easier to use, if not better.
I am in love with the Iron Aid cycles, this basically uses steam whilst drying which stops your clothes from ‘over crisping’ as well as helping keep the clothes smelling fresh and also eliminated the need for ironing after!
This has come in very handy and has meant I can dry my clothes for a full cycle without them crisping!!! Normally when using a tumble dryer I would take out my clothes half way through a cycle than continue air drying them try to stop the over ‘crisping’ and damage of the clothes.
I love:
• The shoe rack it comes with that stops the drum from moving so you can deodorise shoes and other garments
• The drum light so I can see my clothes when I am taking them out
• How quiet this machine is
• How great for the environment the condensing process is, I use the excess water for my plants
• The fact this machine has a 2 star energy rating, most other dryers have 1
• The look of the product, looks great sitting next to my beautiful Electrolux washing machine
• No over drying with ‘crisp’ clothes again!
• The ‘Refresh’ cycle to take the creases out of work shirts, no drycleaners again, this is saving me lots of $$$
As with all of my other reviews, I love Electrolux and Electrolux owned products like Westinghouse and AEG, no other brand in my opinion can compare to their awesome Australian service, their great Euro build quality even though some of them are built in Australia and their awesome design.
I would have to say I am a brand snob; I normally go with the philosophy that the most expensive product means the best product and I usually let this dictate my buying habits. I think for the younger generation of ‘20somethings’ like myself that Electrolux has some bad ‘stigma’ around its brand, I think we associate the brand with being an ‘old’ brand over it being a reliable brand, we associate it with being a brand that is boring… something that only old people would buy. In saying that, I think Electrolux are doing their best to bring their brand into the 21st century and trying to appeal to the new market by upping their build quality and feature list. I highly recommend those of you ‘20 something’s’ who are also brand snobs like me and that would usually go straight for the big brands like Miele and Bosch to check Electrolux out, I am fairly confident you will be surprised by their quality, design, features and price!
I will be purchasing all Electrolux products for my new home and can’t wait to get my new AEG- Electrolux kitchen! No more crisp clothes!
