Electrolux EWF1470 Ergo Loader
Verified5 reviews
I love this and it's such a shame it's been discontinued – I have used mine constantly as I don't hang things out so I have washed and rewashed and rewashed only because I left it sitting in the basket and it got stinky. I used it 6 years with no problem at all. It's only in the last 2 years it started stopping with water in ad having errors with the door etc, but my handy friend managed to get it sorted, although was a pain, he figured it out, so all up about 8-10 years use. Now it's finally the computer that needs replacing, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to get one or not.
The only thing that really was no good was washing powder being left on doonas, even with one doona in there and rinsing 3 times, still washing powder stays on them.
Besides that, I LOVED the ergo tilt, and the right opening door!! I hate doors that open to the left GRRR!!

No lux in Electro – Whether it's a Electrolux washing machine or microwave stay well clear of this rubbish brand. My convection microwave was expensive and crapped out after 2 years. Electrolux don't supply parts for repair and the machine is now irreparable . The front loader I bought has been a nightmare and I have had the teach around more times than I can remember. E40 error means door screwed and it took 6 months to get it sorted.Electro but no lux . No longer a quality product in fact less than average at a premium price .
Don't buy Electrolux. Ever – My machine lasted just over 6 years, which indicates to me for what I paid, really bad and shoddy workmanship. Mine seemed to have the same problem as the other posters in that it would just stop in the middle of the cycle, it would also reset itself back to the beginning of the cycle, a few times leaked water everywhere, often wouldn't spin properly and left the clothes soaking wet. These were intermittent to begin with, but then got worse until the last few months it's been almost impossible to get the machine to do a load without some drama.
It wasn't that the machine had a heavy workload either, averaging about two washes a week. My old Whirlpool lasted more than 11 years with 2 young children and my very first washing machine which was second hand when I purchased it (wish I could remember the brand) lasted nearly 10 years with a small baby!
The repair person who came out said that 6 years was a reasonable amount of time for a washing machine to last (What the?! Are you serious!) and that the motor or a component of the motor was the problem. This after less than 5 minutes of diagnostics. He then quoted the repair job cost to be anywhere from $350 to upward of $550. And to top it off I was absolutely, positively, extremely gouged on the call out at $134. Seriously! Just to tell me the repair would be almost the same cost as replacing with a brand new machine. Not bad for 5 minutes work. This must be Electrolux's most lucrative part of the business, sell shoddy machines, and then charge through the nose for someone to come out for a few minutes and advise you it will cost a small fortune to repair. "And would that be cash or card..."
I would like to know why it is necessary for a repair person to come all the way out to your house, requiring you to be available for the whole day because the service centre cannot give you a specific or ballpark time.
I would like to know why the service centre can't just have a technician call you and have you run through the diagnostics and tell them the error message (a simple process which takes all of 10 seconds).
The whole experience has completely soured my opinion of Electrolux and after this I would not consider purchasing any of their products. Ever. Under any circumstances. You can also be sure I will advise my friends never to buy one of their products as well as posting my dissatisfaction on social media. Washed ok to begin with (which is really what you expect from a washing machine) Long cycles, Short lived, Unreliable, "Service" call out ridiculously expensive for absolutely no service whatsoever, Expensive to repair
Another Bad Review! – I have had exactly the same experience as BAD! Machine started stopping after the wash cycle but eventually was stopping all over the place and wouldn't spin at all. Luckily we did purchase the extended warranty, so the first time round (about 3 years in) all 3 electronic boards plus the motor were replaced (after 3 visits) and the machine started working again. Then 1 year out of the warranty it all happened again!!! This model is a DUD!! And I won't trust any of their machines now. Repair person said it could be just one board but he couldn't tell which one and the only option was to replace them one by one and you can't put the old board back if it isn't the problem. This is a major flaw in the diagnostic system. Shows that they just want you to chuck it out and buy a new one. The repair people just push a few buttons, shrug and tell you to get rid of it!! Not good enough! Until people stop buying their brand they will not improve the situation. Washed ok. Very long cycle, Dodgy electronics, expensive repairs
Bad – CRAP!! wouldn't purchase anything with the Electrolux Emblem ever again and will let as many people as possible know their attitude to their customers after the initial sale has occured At first was a fantastic machine easy to load, could shorten wash time great till.................. Once the 2Yr warranty expired had nothing but problems. The machine would stick at the rinse part of each programme then reset itself leaving the clothes still soaking and the cycle unfinshed.
We contacted Electrolux's call centre and after being rudely told that the machine was out of warranty and we would have to pay for all repairs a technician came out and replaced all circuit boards. He told us this would solve the problem and went away,we turned the machine on and waited for the first wash to finish......it didn't the cycle stopped and exactly the same place.
We once again contacted the very un-helpful call centre and the technician was re-booked,he would take another week to turn up.He arrived replaced the same circuit boards and told us if this didn't cure the problem he was out of ideas!!!!!!
Well it didn't a 1400 dollar washing machine which lasted just over two years is a terrible product in our eyes.We will never buy an Electrolux appliance again and suggest anyone thinks long and hard about buying one too, also we think perhaps Electrolux should get their call centre staff to be a little more sympathetic to customers needs considering the prices of their products. We have now purchased an LG washing machine with a ten year motor warranty.
I have the same problem as pwastie. I have not had anyone look at it and by reading this I might not even bother.
Hi, Marina from Electrolux here. We were sorry to hear you have experienced problems with your Electrolux appliance and would like the opportunity to discuss this further with you.
Can you please email me your contact details at customercare@electrolux.com.au attention Marina.
Thanks
Marina
I am experiencing the same problem and have sent an email to Marina from electrolux...Did Marina resolve this problem for you. It seems to be a common fault and a recall notcie should be issued on the electrolux website or something...
They just want to send you to a repair person that they approve of. I have had my machine at a place for months. Its is something to do with the circuit board. They replaced it but it did not help. They are still trying to figure it out because I have paid them and they don't want to give me my money back is my guess. In all honesty I would sell it for parts and get another machine. You are looking at a $400 bill for something that may not even work. The only benefit I have is, the repair place loaned me a machine that they will not be getting bad until the either give my money and machine back or fix it. It still should work on a couple of the other setting like delicate so try them just so you can wash your cloths. Trust me mate don't even bother trying to fix it.
In response to your question yes Marina did contact me, however once she realised that my review had been posted in 2010 she informed me there was nothing she could do, she offered me her apologys but that doesn't reimburse my 1400 dollars!! Mate if I were you bin it and do what I have been doing for two years give Electrolux the biggest bad name you can to everyone you meet,I even inform strangers in electrical shops and warn them not to purchase Electrolux items and once they hear my story most of them agree that they are out of order.Electrolux is a massive company whose attitude towards their customers is diabolical, they don't care, they have no real customer support, however they get away with it.If they cared this product should have been recalled ages ago and customers reimbursed but we all know that would never happen!!!
I am real sorry that others are having to put up with this terrible Electrolux product however, maybe if enough people speak up about Electrolux products and customer support perhaps just perhaps they may listen and start realising that to have a good name you need to look after their customers each and everyone
