My Machine is still going good after 15 years, – washes all types of clothes and all types of different blankets even washed king size blankets Never damaged any clothes, The machine is relatively slower than other new machines, It doesn’t clean really well unless you put it on 2 hours cycle. occasionally we get error codes like drain etc so after cleaning up drain it’s back to rock and roll.… Read more
It has mould issues which happens in all front load machines. However we clean washing machine as frequent as possible. I bought it second hand for $120 in 2011 when I was single, now I have got kids almost 5 years old and this machine is still going good, never thought about new one as this one still does the good job. It doesn’t actually clean really well but we always soke our clothes before putting into washing machine.
Cleans well but seals are mouldy – I bought this machine many years ago but had problems with mould straight away despite cleaning and airing seals after every wash. Washing machines are a big buy! So dissapointed. Cleans really well. A quiet machine that is water efficient. Seals go mouldy no matter what i do which stains my clothes and is unhygenic. Would definitely not buy this machine again purely for this reason. Show details
After nearly 10 years still going strong – Great washing machine, has been reasonably reliable. Great spin speed and great cleaning. Only issues have been: Pump needed to be replaced after 7 years (changed myself, relatively cheap part) Door latch catch needed replacement after 8 years. Low vibration, relatively quiet, gentle on clothes, fast wash. This is an old machine, but a good one to get if you are looking for a used machine.
I only have the front loader for 1 month and already the rubber got moulds – The design of the front loader should have been better after only 1 month the rubber got moulds and water collects in the cups this is unfair!
MUCH FASTER WASH CYCLE THAN YOU THINK !!!!! – I bought a ew1280f secondhand after my trusty front loader failed big time and was going to cost too much to fix. I've had the Electrolux for 1 week and am completely blown away by it's performance. FASTEST WASH IS NOT 54 MINUTES, there is actually a CYCLE FOR 36 MINUTES... ** SETTING: Synthetics - Cold - 900 spin - Quick Wash = 36 minutes. WORKS WELL !!
Love my trusty reliable front loader – Machine has been so reliable and a fantastic little workhorse for 8 years. Had a very bad experience with another expensive top of the market brand that was at one stage replaced by the manufacturer with a new one which was still just as unreliable, it was very noisy, the components frequently broke (ie: three doors & door casings/hinges in 6… Read more · 3
years, internal components broke/wore) it was just a lemon. I was just lucky the parts were so readily available, almost got to know the repairs dept on first name basis! This one is just starting to play up a little, it is not washing as thoroughly and spinning as fast but goodness me, it has cost me nothing since I purchased it. Thank you Electrolux, I do hope you can repair whatever is slowing down, as I have a little gem in this machine. Reliable, parts don't break (ie: door/hinges/casing) reasonably quiet for a front loader, just love it.
Yes, It's NOT the detergent! – Yes, I had the. Same experience being told that I was using too much detergent! But I was using a front loader detergent recommended by Electrolux and if anything I was using slightly less than the recommended dose as my clothes are never really 'dirty'. I got the impression that they were just blaming the detergent and me instead of really… Read more
saying what the problem was. I would definitely buy a front loader again BUT not an Electrolux! Good machine and good wash although a longer than normal wash Barely lasts thru warranty period and they blame the detergent instead of fixing the problem
Don't buy it if you think it will last longer then 3 years – I bought mine in 2005 and absolutely loved it. After being raised on top loaders I was amazed at how well it washed my clothes. Now here is where is gets ugly. I had an error 90 code pop up in the 2nd year, they came and fixed it no charge, told me I was using too much powder. Did as they said and continued to enjoy this machine. Two weeks ago… Read more
it was getting very loud on spin cycle and I thought it was an unbalanced load. Well last week while on spin cycle it made a loud bang and started jumping around the floor. Something was definitely wrong....Have I called a tech to come look at it? No. All I had to do was look on youtube of the thousands of videos of front loaders doing exactly the same thing mine was.
Countless blogs and stories of people buying these machines that only lasted 2 years...I was lucky. You see the manufacturers like to blame you and say your detergent did this...No its a design flaw that they refuse to fix and keep making them to bring in the bucks from consumers like us.
It uses less this and less that but after a few years it will cost you $600 to repair the whole drum and tub. The aluminum spider arms that hold the bearing rod and essentially the whole stainless steel bit to the tub fails. Cause its made out of Aluminum and is bolted to a stainless steel tub, it causes the arms to corrode and break under wet conditions. They will tell you the detergent does it, but what about the hundreds who used HE liquid detergent???. What about metal workers who have said the two metals are incompatible?
When it happens you have to replace the whole tub. They will not sell you just the spider arms and would you spend all of this money knowing it will only happen again? Its not worth it and you might as well turn it on its back and put a pot plant in it.
Give me lint, Bad whites and extra water usage any day. Give me a top loader. (its easier and cheaper to replace a gearbox or timer then a whole blasted tub unit! Very clean clothes, easy to use. Don't expect it to last, not feasable to repair, expensive throw away washer.
I love it 8 - ) – This has been a fantastic washing machine for our family. It is economical, good wash cycles to choose between, no need for a dryer as the clothes are nearly dry after the 1200 spin cycle. I haven't needed to have it repaired since we bought it 8 years ago! My only negatives are that it has had a mould build up inside the rubber seal (I have… Read more
washed this clean but the stains remain) and the shortest cycle is 54 minutes.
Overall, I would highly recommend this machine. Washes the clothes really well, I can machine wash delicates and my woollens : ) Mould build up on inside seal
FAB – Bought new in 2005. Easy to use. Good spin speed, reasonable quick wash time of under an hour. Additional functions useful. Reasonably quiet. Can add to normal programs provided the temperature is not above 40c. Overall excellent results. 1200rpm spin (previous 800rpm)means my dryer times have reduced by 25% Easy to use. quiet. quick wash gives good results Noisy spin...but I am being picky
OK – Very happy with this one. Pity they have discontinued it to be honest. Yep i think i have convinced myself to buy another one. Now 6 years old. Easy to use with plenty of options from quick / eco wash to time delay and night washing (pauses before spin cycle until you wake up and resume the cycle). Quiet whilst in full spin and has survived 5… Read more
house moves. Washes everything from dog blankets to QS electric blankets, woolens, delicates and everything reliably clean. Excellent customer care.
While it was broken i borrowed a friend's toploader and it shredded my husbands jumper (which has been washed umpteen times in my 1280F). I loved it until it died on me this morning. Looking at reviews i seem to be lucky it lasted this long. Do i stick with expensive brand or switch...
Good – Bought this machine in 2004.Very pleased with the machine until the circuit board went & could not be fixed. After 6months of trying to get it repaired under warranty, Electolux replaced it with the newer model...not happy with replacement at all. Loved the 1200 rpm spin on this machine. new machine has slower 1000 rpm Would buy this model again… Read more
but not EWF1087 model the company replace my EW 1280F model with. 1200 rpm spin circle. delayed start. easy to use. That it broke down & couldnt be repaired or replaced with same model.
Excellent – A great machine! We spent over $1000 for this unit and its been totally trouble free. Remember when moving to use the 3 packaging bolts that come with it and dont forget to remove them when you decide to use it again as this can damage your machine! I will not go back to a top loader, money well spent The 1200 revolutions per minute ensures my… Read more
washing is extra dry before I hang it. Very simple to use with push buttons that light up. Very economical to use, both water wise and detergent wise. Washes really well in cold water. Only need one tap connected to it as it uses electricity to heat the water up. When we first purchased it the range of powders and liquid consumables were limited but now they are available everywhere. The quickest wash takes 54 minutes on economy mode so you need to consider this if you dont have a lot of time. The machine has a tenancy to 'walk' if not loaded correctly!! this doesnt have anything to do with levelling properly its just that it cant handle towels very well as it gets heavy so now I dont dry it on the 1200 rpm option I lower it to 500 and thats solved my problem. Like the other reviews we also had the same issue with mould? appearing in the door seal. I wonder if vinegar will do the trick??

Know better, choose better.
OK – We purchased our machine in 2004. Unfortunatley there was a build up of black dirt around the ring of the machine close to the door seal which we could not clean. We took the ring out of the machine to clean it out and unfortunately it was punctured when we tried to put it back in (which was our fault). I will now purchase another brand and… Read more
hopefully we won't have the same problem with the dirt. Otherwise before the problem with the build up of dirt, the machine worked well. Has many washing options to choose from. Able to pause and restart (helpful if you forget to add clothes and need to add them later. Door opens to 180 degrees which makes it easier to put clothes in and out. User friendly, easy to operate. There was a build up of dirt around the washing machine ring close to the door seal which was impossible to clean and caused clothes to become murky. Noisy when spinning.
Good – A pleasing purchase that has worked well for 3 years. Please with my decision to change to front loader, would like to see option for quick normal wash. Able to advance thru cycles, choose spin speeds and temperature. Washes well. Good selection of programmes
Excellent – I purchased this machine three years ago reluctantly as I am used to a top loader. I have become extremely impressed with this washer as it has many wash cycle options and clothes are washed extremely well. To date I have never had a problem with it. My only annoyance is that while spinning this machine is very very noisy. I haven't used any… Read more
other machines however it does seem a tad excessive. The washer is very gentle on clothes and has many wash options to choose from. A reasonably high spin speed. This washer is very noisy when spinning.
Excellent – It's a good and reliable washer, been using it for 3 years and still in excellent condition with low maintenance required. Gentle washer and does not ruin clothes Easy to use, straightforward instructions Quiet and good spin speed Multiple additional functions that are useful
