Here's the easy fix for opening the door when it's locked!! – It has taken me ages to find the solution as holding the up and down keys for 5 seconds as indicated in the instruction manual DID NOT WORK for me!! All you have to do is cancel the current program you originally selected by: Turning the selector dial to “O” and then in the new selected program (SELECT THE DRAIN PROGRAM). Press the “Ok”… Read more

button to cancel the program which is running. Now press the Start/Pause button to start the new

Once the DRAIN program has finished the door will unlock.....WAHLAAHHHHH

Lasted 4.5 years – Yeah not cool it died after just under 5 years. At least it was under extended warranty and I replaced it with a larger washer. Not happy with the lifespan. This review would be positive if I'd seen mine was an edge case but obviously these are known to fail. the machine was great up until it failed. to call them and ask why hadn't my appointment been booked (extended warranty people needed verification of fault via onsite). CSO advised they tried calling - funny no missed call, call waiting or voicemail lying scumbag.

Mouldy mess – I cannot get rid of the mould in the seal. I've tried everything. My clothes come out of the machine with black mould streaks on them and they stink no matter how quickly I get them out of the washing machine. Extremely unhygienic and completely unsatisfactory considering the exuberant price!

Machine lasts 3 years and breaks down. Happened twice now – I had exactly the same experience as the last person. First machine died after 3 years they gave us another 'at cost' it died after 3 years and now they are trying to offer us a superceded model 'at cost' and without the extended warranty to 5 years which costs an additional $200. After reading these reviews I understand why......

Don't buy one!!! – Our first machine died after 3 years. Cost to repair was about $600 so we stupidly decided to purchase another Electrolux machine to replace it (mainly because we had invested around $250 for the base unit that it sits on). Three weeks out of warranty (3 years), the second machine failed, and again, it is going to cost us around $600 to repair… Read more

(every simple fault seems to destroy the circuit board!!). Unless you enjoy shopping for a new washing machine every three years, I suggest you find something more reliable.

We will be shopping for ANYTHING other than an Electrolux!!

Locked machine and no way to unlock! + many other issues – The washer has stopped at least 7 times in the last cycle claiming it could not fill and the pump needed to be drained. Now it says it is locked and needs the key combination... yet there is no guide as to how to open it. Please anyone have ideas???? I emailed the customer service email that has been posted on here every other complaint but I haven't received a response. Guidance???

Electrolux EWF 114811 Failed @ 2.5Years vs Hoover 620 ... Lasted 18 Years – Purchased June 2012 .. failed New Years Day 2015. The main PC board TCI EWM3500, module number 147866000. Failure due fuse resistor R76 blowing. Electrolux have so far refused to advise R76 value, seems they do not have any technical support. So being a Radar Technical Officer I traced the input circuit from the 240V plug to the PC board. So… Read more

far I have found the active & neutral connections transposed, so the PC board common rail is actually at active or Live potential, conversely the neutral is being half wave rectified & filtered to active.

I believe that this has & is causing the high failure rate of the PC Boards as any spikes on the active are attempting to source the MEN (mains earth neutral) ground via C28 & C29, Diode in R77 space & R76, to neutral.

I have advised Electrolux customer dont care people that they probably recall these machines & fix the potentially hazardous situation, I offered to show a electrolux agent the problem at their cost not mine but so far this has been declined as no calls to the telephone numbers left ... I guess is too far from the Phillipines or India {:o)

Can any one confirm my calculation of R76 fuse resistor being 2Watts 3.3 ohms .. I purchased one post this calculation for $1.00 the first band was orange (=3) the other bands burnt off

Machine displays the error message – I've had the same issue with my Electrolux washing machine. Suddenly after our first wash, the message 'Machine has been locked, use key combination to unlock it' has come up and there is no way to find out the combination other than calling in the technician. Good when it works – Bought this machine 2009. In summary: The machine broke down now the 4th times every time the same issue, same fix. The first two was covered by warranty. The third one I had to pay for. Now I have the same issue again. Basically the technician comes and resets the machine and it works again… they never open it just play with the buttons for a few… Read more

minutes. Last time I've asked them to tell me how to reset it and I can do it myself.. they could not tell me. I assume that it would be less easy jobs for them to deal with.

Last time I've been told that it breaks because I use liquid washing detergent. I swapped to powder now… but still breaks. I’m really disappointed with this machine and also the service. When my Samsung fridge broke, someone from Samsung on the phone could help me to do basic checks and we fixed the fridge in 5 minutes by resetting the ice maker. I don’t understand why I cannot reset similarly the washing machine myself? Instead I have to wait days until someone comes and I have to pay for a simple reset. A repair should be covered by warranty as well.

Waste of money-never again Electrolux! – 2 year old machine and will not drain water out unless I do a complete reset. It stops in the middle of a wash and gives me a message that it cannot drain water. There is nothing wrong with the drain hose and the drain pump is clean. This is happening @ every third or forth wash, exactly as described in many other reviews. It was not an inexpensive machine. Garbage!

Terrible waste of money – This is my first experience with a front loader and not that long after I bought it the main board screen went funny so the machine was replaced under warranty. fill, it just makes a noise like it is finishing a cycle but doesn't actually do anything.

I also have had the mould issue and had to have the seal replaced within a year of use. I also had left the door open and I was told the same thing about drying it. Nice to read that (NOT) in the manual.

It has never cleaned exceptionally well, sometimes leaving dirty marks on my sheets and clothes even after a machine clean.

Very disappointed in my Electrolux machine and reading these reviews it seems as though there is a reoccurring trend with the main computer board as well as the mould. I would never buy another one, nor recommend them to my friends.

Didn't clean well, mould in the seal and poor quality, didn't last. Very disappointed!

Shockingly bad – I have had this machine for just under 4 years when it stopped working. Mould machine – After owning this machine for 12 months it developed a major mould issue through the bellows even though we always left the door open and removed the clothes after the cycle had finished.....after Electrolux sent me an excerpt from a different washing machine user manual stating that I should be drying the bellows manually after the wash cycle… Read more

(owned 3 previous front loaders in my life and never experienced this issue) I explained that the instructions were not in my machine manual or on their website for the model I owned! They accepted the cost of replacing the bellows..... When the tech came out to replace the bellows ( he was rude and seemed angry that Electrolux was paying for the part and service ) he showed us that the machine mould issue was not just in the bellows but through the whole machine! We now have a worthless stinking machine with new bellows that still produces stinking clothes ...... We have had to buy a new machine NOT Electrolux and placed this disaster in our garage , not sure what to do with it now. I explained to Electrolux that they have a class action against them in America for the same issue and the bellows are designed in a way to catch water and create mould......while buying our new machine I noticed that the new Electrolux machines now have redesigned the bellows to not capture water and create a little mould pool. Surprise surprise! Currently in the process of replacing every Electrolux product we have with something else ..... We were long time advocates of Electrolux and would always recommend them to our friends. Not any more! Matched the condenser dryer nicely and time manager function .....sold the dryer now :-( Design flaw with the drainage system on the bellows hides a pool of water that creates mould through the machine that can't be removed unless you have the machine completely disassembled and cleaned at the workshop

Good machine but only lasted 3 years – And another Electrolux EWF14811 bites the dust after 3 years, is this something that is programmed in ??? Technician advised that the main controlling circuit board needed to be replaced.… Read more

One week later, after chasing the repairers, then the insurance company (who do not believe in letting a customer know what is happening) we were advised we could have a replacement machine of lower specification than the one we currently have, our money back (less than what we paid, this being based on a 'comparable' but lower spec model) or they would repair the machine (but they have already decided it is not worth repairing). A take it or leave it attitude. You can get an identical model, but it costs to much. So, buy a machine from Electrolux, we had good service out of it, but do not expect it too last more than 3 years. 14 minute wash cycle, used extenstively. Only lasted 3 years

Don't waste your money! – We bought an EWF1481 machine 3 years ago and like many on this site have experienced the frustration of an unrepairable machine and the woeful lack of customer care from Electrolux. I'm pleased to see that people are now avoiding this machine (see Christel below) and brand because the word is out that they are faulty and this company, unlike others, does not recall, repair or replace their product. People do their research. If we had known this machine would only last 3 years we never would have bought it. We will never buy another Electrolux product and are doing our best to warn other consumers to spend their money on better quality products and companies that value their customers as well as their reputation. Thanks for nothing Electrolux! Shame on you. washed well while it lasted Consumers expect washing machines to last for 10 + years Electrolux. You should be ashamed!

0 STARS FOR THIS MACHINE AND ELECTROLUX AS A WHOLE! – This is our third Electrolux washing machine in three and and half years. Our first one lasted till it was just out of warranty and we had to pay prorata of $400 to get a new one, as it was dead! Power board! Second one lasted a few months and it became so out of balance that it dented from the inside out the exterior of the washing machine, and… Read more

almost went through a glass siding door, as it vibrated out of its position.

The third one..... Wow, 30 days on the dot from when we recieved it, it started to play up, and as you can predict, a power board board once again. Now as you can understand, we have been very patient and understanding, but every time the repair man comes someone has to be home, and no time is given. Come on Electrolux why should we be disadvantaged further?? Yes of course, now the machine will get replaced, and yet again have to be home for a delivery. 3 machines, so this has happened 3 times.... Patience is wearing.....

My wife and I have decided that a full refund ($1015+$400) is worthy, as we have pursued avenues of replacements but as you could understand, if 3 machines have gone faulty in such little time, we have no Hope with any more!

We have spoken to Electrolux customer care, and once again, you are expected to hang around and wait for a call back!! WAKE UP GUYS! People work Monday to Friday and often Saturdays, hence a call back with no message left at home nor on our mobiles is unexceptable! Further, after a series of calls to and fro, ELECTROLUX wish to refund the money, but has the ordasity to reply in saying it will take 4-6 weeks to receive a cheque in the mail! Not good enough!!! I do not have a spare washing machine to pull out of a cupboard and use? Nor do I see a further credit for laudramat bill, 3 times a week.

We have also requested a remittance advice, just incase anything does happen in the mail, and no, Electrolux don't I've remittance advice... All they do is take your money and get strung out till you give up!! I'll endeavour to spread this word as far as I can for the extremely poor product and after sales service they offer! These guys are kidding themselves!!

ELECTROLUX, IF YOU WANT A LEMON BUT ONE OF THESE! 30 days old, nearly got to used to it!!! Power board, balance, vibrating, squeaky loud noises

Not Happy – I have had this machine since 2009. Thank God I purchased the 'extended warranty' as it has been away for repairs 3 times. on my clothes. Try doing a load of 'black clothes'. Since I purchased it I have had problems with the 'hand wash & delicate cycles. Soap scum is left on the clothes. I follow all the maintenance instructions, filter and washing dispenser are always clean and I do the monthly machine wash. Bad smell lingers in the drum! If I knew this machine needed so much maintenance I never would have considered it. Have only ever owned top loaders and all u have to do with them is empty the middle lint collector. I have phoned the help line several times over the years for suggestions on what I should do as I can only use the 'cotton' cycle. I have tried every washing powder and liquid on the market from expensive to cheap!! Electrolux recommend Omo, so I've stuck to that. Still don't get a really good wash and I can't reduce the wash time as I have boys that are heavily involved with sport so their clothes are quite dirty. 'Synthetic' was is a non event as well. I'm onto another call out re: soap scum and smell, just before my warranty has finally run out!! Don't hold out any hope though. Why is the filter at the bottom of the machine and you can't get to all the water that comes rushing out? Design flaw!! Time Management function is the best feature of this machine! It takes me all day to do my washing with each wash duration 2 hours 30 minutes. We are a family of 4, both parents working, school age teenage boys and the washing is the stressful part of my day as one load takes so long and you might have to rinse again if there is soap scum on some of the clothes. Won't b buying another 'front loader', sorry this experience with brand and proformance has left a bad taste. Time management function, spin speed Expensive, problems within 2 years

It has broken down again!!!! (EWF1481) – This is my second blog about this machine. Since I last wrote 6 months ago we have had 2 new boards installed at our expense as it was just out of warranty. through the cycle yet again. He managed to get it going again. Yesterday, on a roll I did 2 loads of washing perfectly, third load disaster. It wouldn't rinse and drain, wet soapy clothes trapped in machine! Finally managed to get them out but unable to get machine to work on any cycle. Does anyone have any idea how to get this thing working properly??? For a 3 yr old machine that has broken down on at least 6 occasions one is left wondering how Electrolux can have the audacity to market this machine - it's a lemon!!! Now about to ring the repair man again, we will soon have paid more in repairs than the original cost of the machine.

(Note) I wash once a week only as there is only my husband and I. - not exactly overworked!!! Would love it if it worked for more than a few weeks at a time. Who knows? - Service man tells us the boards are now manufactured in Thailand - quality?

Terrible – This is the third front loader I have owned and I'd never go near an electrolux again. My previous one was an Asko and it was fantastic. I also had an LG and it was also fantastic. even sheets and I haven't ironed anything for years previously.

Unless I put it on a full cotton wash the clothes come out so damp I can squeeze them out by hand. A spin of 1400 rpm sounds great but both my other machines did a better job at 1000 rpm than this load of rubbish. Good energy ratings. (No wonder they're good - it has hardly any energy at all!) Too slow, everything comes out crushed, spin doesn't get clothes properly drip free.
