Pros: We thought the handle controls would be good - Not so!
Cons: Continually shuts down after just a couple minutes use - hardly used since December 2010 - wasted money
Overall: Bought oct 2010, not used until almost christmas time 2010 with poor results; it proceeded to shut down then and when we dared try to use it again since, even up to 19 May 2012, the fault remains. It has had a new hose and attachment to cleaner body fitted in past two weeks but is still not worth the money paid for it.
Shame on Electrolux for such a 'dud' of a machine. We,ve had so many good ones in the past but this is "rubbish".

All we want is a machinje that will operate without shutting down after only a couple of minutes use. my old small Sanyo for the car is so much better and much more reliable.

This has certainly turned us of Electrolux! The technician told us we were "nuts' to purchase this machine; didn't realise. Will tell so many friends and family.

Pros: First use was great and sucked up a lot of dust and dirt I didn't know existed
Cons: Motor burnt out after a few weeks. Most annoying is the Bad design of the wire in the hose that gets clogged with hair every few week
Overall: Good for a couple of weeks until the motor burnt out even after keeping filters clean. The main problem with this vacuum which is not immediately noticeable is the clogging of the hose because of the bad inside wire design.

What happens is hair gets stuck under the wire inside the hose at the vacuum cleaner end and you have to painfully pick it out using a coat hanger wire. People don't realise this for a couple of months after the buy it.

I am surprised Electrolux have such a bad design that did not get picked up in product testing.

I would be far happier if they redesigned the hose and replaced it for me. Until then I will stand clean of the brand for a vacuum cleaner from my experience. A vacuum cleaner need to last you at Lear 10 years and you don't want this problem believe me.

Pros: lightweight, grreat suction, copes with toddlers and pets, easy to use, one handle does it all.
Cons: It breaks down at 8 weeks old. Very Bad warranty service.
Overall: the fact that i had not one but two of these vacuums break and have had waited longer for repairs than the life of one of these vacuums is unacceptable. A vacuum which breaks at 2 months old should be replaced without causing the client any disruption.

Having a replacement warrenty for all vacuums regardless of the age or state of them is disgraceful. I have been without a vacuum for 8 weeks in total of the two vacuums.

Pros: Plenty of suction, looks stylish, good wand length
Cons: The dust canister is way too small and does not empty easily. The door fell off it the first time we used it (Harvey Norman replaced this with one from their showroom model). Accessories are supposed to clip on the handle but they always fall off.
Overall: I did the research and wanted a bagless, cyclonic vacuum with a hepa filter from a big-name brand at a reasonable price, so the ZUA3820 seemed the natural choice.
The machine looks very modern and stylish, the wand is a great length and the accessories are functional. Best of all there is enough suction to lift the carpet, but it's variable so can be set at an optimum level.
But when it comes to actually using this machine the experience leaves a lot to be desired. We had a new wool carpet which I know sheds a lot, so our experience may be a bit atypical. But a year on we are still finding the dust canister hopelessly small and poorly designed -- we have to empty it every time and it doesn't just empty into the rubbish with the push of a button, as advertised. You have to reach in and pull the fluff out yourself! We have an average-sized house but had to empty the canister three times to vacuum the house once, when the carpet was new.
Then there are the three filters -- great if you are an asthma sufferer because the machine blows out clean, warm air. But if you don't constantly shake, clean and wash the filters the machine will shut down.
Next time I'll go with a more traditional vacuum cleaner -- one with a big bag and one filter.

Pros: good suction
Cons: Pain to clear blocked hose
Overall: Have had it sent in to be fixed because the remote control didn't work and the hose part closest to the control panel always blocks up with debris. It isn't easy to clear, as there is a small plastic fixture which appears to hinder debris from flowing through to the collection area

Pros: Bagless, effective, easy and fun to use. Long cord. Buttons on handle.
Cons: Having to change heads when moving from carpet to hard floor.
Overall: Our old Miele was really showing its age and although it was still working well, our three pets were taxing it and it was becoming quite noisy. We could not find a shop that stocked the Electrolux UltraActive range so we were guided by the reviews on this site.

Decided on the ZUA3861P which replaces the ZUA3860P and I don't think there are any obvious differences apart from colour, and I'm trusting that some glitches with the electronics in early models are all sorted now. This is the unit with the power driven head.

We did the test of vacuuming with the old unit and then re-doing with the new Electrolux and an amazing amount of dust and hair came out of the carpets.

The rotating brushes really are effective and can be switched on and off with buttons on the handle on this model. Also the 5-speed motor can be adjusted in the same way.

This is our first bagless. With the bags, whenever it wasn't empty the old dust made a bad smell each time we used it. Now with the empty canister the smell is gone. Also the vacuum seems much more powerful.
