Electus 20/130W Turbo Soldering Iron TS1554
Verified3 reviews
It's ok but not the best, 20W is too low for most applications so you have to constantly use the turbo button. Get something from KOGAN that's 60W+. Also the tip on the iron is a little on the large side so not good for smaller jobs.
Perfect for smaller jobs / DIY use! – Honestly for the price I can't complain about this product, Jaycar offers it in a kit including a stand, solder, a "solder sucker", a spare tip and the iron itself for only $24! For over a year it has serviced me well, with use times of upwards of 15 - 20 minutes and being used at least once a week! with a comfortable and lightweight handle. Only takes about 10 -15 seconds to reach temperature and the "Turbo" button is great for soldering larger pads, de-soldering or a quick recovery after using a damp sponge for cleaning.
Very poor service life! – Would not buy this soldering iron again! First one lasted less than 12 months before burning out, and was probably only used for 10 minutes in total. Bought a second one after Jaycar convinced me they had no similar reported failures, but have just suffered the same failure after similar usage. Pretty disappointing that Jaycar stock such rubbish. Iron was light, comfortable, and easy to use. Two soldering irons failed after probably no more than 10 minutes of actual use.

agreed, though my iron lasted 6 months of mid use and now I have a new one and am not using the 130w button ever.
