Overall: I have a bad impression on Epson printers because of the one I've experienced in the office while I was still working for my previous company. I was suprised to stumble upon this Epson picture mate, unlike the Epson I've encountered before, this one works really well. The colours are so alive. And I think that putting a handle is a brilliant idea, it's what makes it more portable and convenient to carry around. This printer dispells all my bad impressions on Epson printers.
Pros: Having a handle like that of an AM/FM radio. The PictureMate 500 has a colored LCD to display pictures you are printing. Truly borderless, its capable of printing resolutions ranging up to 5,760x1,440dpi. Supports memory cards too for easy access to those pictures files you've stored there.
Cons: It's a good, unique printer design that somehow prints very slow in order to achieve realisting output. Considerable only if the later is required.
Overall: Carry everywhere with an optional battery pack, because PictureMate 500 is that highly portable. Of course, it includes an AC adaptor for plugging it in the nearest electrical socket. Prints very sharp. Photo-lab like.
With a maximum resolution of 5760 Optimised dpi (when connected to the PC) using Resolution Performance Management (RPM) technology, the Epson PictureMate 500 can produce ink droplets as small as 3pl. Playing a major part in the printer's professional quality print capabilities is its six-colour (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Photo Black, Red, Blue) pigment ink system, which delivers extremely smooth colour gradation and beautiful skin tones.
