An absolute waste of money and time – Thank you Epson, for stealing my money, time and paper. I swear they plan for their products to break. Despite numerous cartridge replacements, my printer has refused to accept them, despite using genuine cartridges. It's funny really, spending nearly $70 for a printer which which only costed me $100 a few years ago, essentially turning a $100 space waster into a $170 brick of cheap Chinese plastic.  Show details

The Epson Stylus NX130 is a jerky imposter – It tries to feed the paper so FAST and clumsily that it always goes in crooked, sometimes rips the paper then makes an inky mess farther down. Even if it gets the paper only slightly crooked, it misses the top or middle of the lines of print (a blank 1/8" horizontal stripe across the entire width of the paper where print should be) Have tried… Read more

fresh ream of paper etc but still unacceptable.

The areas to clear paper jams are inaccessible so good luck with that. It always tries to redirect you to "Buy Epson Ink" whether you need it or not. Also the ink replacement routine doesn't align the ink cartridges with the thin slot so changing the ink is a frustrating, nearly impossible task. The paper feed pawl (roller) is inaccessible for "cleaning" so if that's the problem then it's "Tough biscuit, dummy!" Ya should 'a researched it online before BUYING! The Scan works okay, but if I could I'd give it zero stars. I wanted a PRINTER !!! - - - Not an ANCHOR!

Worse Printer Possible – I have had nothing but trouble, ink clogging, ink not recognised, paper not feeding, too many pages feeding, not recognising printer is connected. This printer could not be worse.

Papper loading issues – Same problem that others have mentioned. It constantly tells me that the paper is loaded incorrectly. No matter what i do it just keeps telling me this. When i do get it to work it will print one page and then the same problem re occurs... Iam not so worried about the ink, cheap to replace on eBay but this really is a piece of rubbish. A… Read more

shame as i owned a Epson scanner/printer in the past that was very good(only replaced it because it became obsolete with newer operating systems).

this has been a good printer for me – I had it for so long that it stopped printing because it had used up all the print pages it was allowed (something I did not know anything about),but apart from that the printer ,I changed over to a auto ink feeder and it did me good service for over 3 years and now I have purchased a second hand one changed over the ink system and it hasn't… Read more ·  1

Worst Epson ever – Terrible product. First day - can't feed a single sheet of paper. Found out you need several sheets in the feeder for it to work. Later the scanner as a copier broke. It missed bands, yet scanner as a scanner (controlled by the computer) scanned perfectly. The ink as supplied with the printer ran out very fast, and replacement cost is close to the… Read more

cost of the printer. Now can't remove the ink cartridges to replace them because it 'thinks' they are full, yet the cartridges can't be full because the colours are washed out and banded. Do not buy this printer. Nothing Not fit for purpose

Great value – A great little printer. Excellent value for money. I never have a problem with it. Have had the printer for several years now and it gets a lot of use. Changing catridges was a bit awkward at first but no issue now. Yes, the ink is expensive, however, it doesn't matter what printer you use the ink is always expensive. The cost of the ink for this… Read more

printer is in line with that for other printers. Remember that the manufacturers don't make money out of selling printers - they make it out of selling the ink. I understand that this model is being phased out, or has already been phased out. If your printer is giving you so much angst, at such a low cost, throw it in the rubbish bin and get another. Maybe an expensive one! You might find you have just as much trouble with that one. reliable changing cartridges was awkward initially but now OK

Yup, they're right - it's terrible – I presumed I had a faulty printer, but after reading the other reviews here perhaps the model it just bad! Replacing cartridges is painful, print quality is terrible, there is always banding or missing colours which means I face the arduous task of checking the nozzles, alignment and cleaning the print heads (and wasting ink) before every use. I… Read more

have attempted to deal with Epson over the warranty period but kept getting the run around and it was going to cost more than the printer was worth to send for repair. Now of course the warranty has run out.

Won't be buying Epson products again. Affordable Bad quality, possibly faulty, no help from epson

wow! Just kill me! – If you hate efficiency, and quality this is the product for you. Replacing ink cartridges (some thing you will need to do way too often) is an absolute ordeal. Replacing paper is difficult, almost like the paper is not held in the correct position. I live in a student house, 3 of us have this printer we all HATE it with a passion. Have printers gone back in time?? Everything

Shame on you Epson to seel [censored word removed] like this NX130. We are stupid to buy cheap things. So don't ever buy Epson! Lexmark my old printer is the best!

Do not waste your money – Same problem as Arief .. started ok ...changed cartridges..printed a couple of pages.....then general error warning which you cannot find info on or correct ....run away ..be afraid...be very afraid ... consumer law in Australia needs to look at garbage like this and ensure it does not retail here ..penalize the manufacturers or retailers who continue to sell the rubbish. the colour it's like a money box without a bottom

Piece of junk – Intially this was a good printer, good print quality and speed. It used half a catridge each to charge the printer. Was used for 20 or pages then wasnt used for two months. after this time it would not feed the paper in. After many attempts to load the paper the only way to make it print was by punching it. After this for twenty minutes I threw it… Read more

Awful printer – This is the worst printer I have ever owned. Every time it runs out of paper it is an ordeal trying to load new paper and have the printer start working again. Ditto with the ink. It is very slow (much slower than advertised) and the print quality is inconsistent. Strongly recommend staying away from this printer. Slow printing speed, tempermental,

Worst printer I have ever used – If you were considering buying this printer, don't. I can count on a single hand the amount of times it has printed a readable page. The paper feeder jams constantly and printing is ridiculously slow, constantly coming up with some error or another. Draft printing is not much faster, and barely readable. The ink is expensive considering it doesn't… Read more

last very long - it won't print unless all cartridges have ink, so you need to replace magenta for example even to just print out black and white text. Changing the ink was a pain in the neck too - you have to press a button and hope the printer realises you want to change the ink, and puts the cartridge in the right position (a tiny square opening). Cheap Paper feeder jams, always having errors, slow printing, chews through ink

Worst buy ever – This printer is the worst bit of rubbish I have ever purchased. Ink lasts approx 20 prints, and you have to change all the cartridges for it to work, not just black! Sometimes it just wont print and says there is either no ink or paper jam when it's new ink and no paper in there. Will never buy another Epson. The price

Terrible printer – I bought this printer as it was cheap. However, the cartridges it came with needed to be replaced immediately. The cartridges are more expensive than the printer so I only got the black as I only needed black. The printer then was 'unable' to recognise the cartridges and tech support at Epson said I needed to replace all the cartridges. So I will… Read more

Really bad! – Got it as a gift and had to give it back as it was frustratingly slow and used up a lot of ink. Starting it up with the cartridges was a pain, scanning docs are ok but printing anything takes up a long time. Would not recommend this printer to anyone even as a gift or a cheap purchase. Slow and inefficient

Pathetic product – This printer has proved utterly hopeless in every way. The first problem I encountered was the unnecessarily difficult task of replacing the too small, too expensive and crucially non refillable ink cartridges, why is it so time consuming? On a HP, you simply remove the empty cartridge and insert the new one, on the NX130, you have to hold down a… Read more

button until it eventually realises that you want to change the cartridge and slowly slides the cartridges across so the cyan can be removed.

Repeat until you reach the one you want.It could take up to half an hour to change the black. Recently mine has begun feeding multiple pages though at a time, causing it to jam or spit out several blank pages, and not actually print what you wanted. the scan quality is also woeful, it prints incredibly slowly and for some unknown reason it defaults to print backwards. This setting can be changed but it reverts back if unused for extended time periods.Do not buy this printer, spend a bit more on something with refillable ink cartridges and you'll be better off later on. It's cheap

Worst Epson printer I've ever purchased – I've used Epson printers for years - good quality print at inexpensive costs, but this printer is apalling. The sheet feeder is hopeless - constant paper jams, pulling in multiple pages at once, paper coming through lopsided. The ink funnels clog up quick if not used regularly but I'm used to this with Epson and usually use them often enough for… Read more

The problem was whenever I want to print it was stuck on general error and if it can print, it wasn't clear (it blur somehow).. I won't recommend this printer and fed up using epson product. It was really cheap, and it does the basic job – This printer is fine for what i wanted it for. Printing out, text, emails, coupons etc. It might have some people stuck on set up...For four reasons. a) When you install the ink, it's not so easy. You need to do in one at a time, and press one of the buttons to move it along, put in a colour, move it along and put in the next etc. b)… Read more

When you try to put in paper the first time you can't. There is this grey thing in the way. So you have to squeeze it, and pull it to the side. But that wasn't obvious until I read that.

c) There is no USB cable, but the shop keeper told us that beforehand, and he also said that is standard for most printers nowadays and my old printer had the same cable, so I was fine.

d) With the printing on the paper I have for photos, there seems like there is too much ink, so the paper gets a little bit wet from the ink if it's a big photo. For me i'm used to that. I'll let it dry and it's fine. Though if someone wanted to print a lot of full color photos , this might not be the best printer to choose. Epson do recommend, certain paper, so it may just be the paper I have lying around.

For me, anyway it's fine and it was so cheap! So it's good value... People were complaining about the cost of ink. I just checked ebay and someone was selling the set of 4 ink cartridges for $7.50. Which is also so cheap... For a private home use printer it's good and amazingly good value, for what I paid. Price, prints fine Set up is a little tricky, photo printing on my paper seems a bit thick, but it drys okay.

FIne in-expensive printer that does the job – As an in-expensive printer ($49) connected to a Mac Book Pro and Windows 7 Laptop it did the job printing and scanning fine. Nice colour quality. For this price range nothing to really complain about. If you want lots of features look elsewhere. Had a little trouble getting thermal paper invoices to print. Cartridges pricy prints and scans well
