Pros: The quality of photographs produced by this printer is outstandingly good - and I am a semi-professional photographer who needs excellent definition and faithful colour rendition. It may take a little time to get the printer set up to suit your particular needs but once that is done you can simply print away. It is quiet and at first is generally highly reliable - I was a HP devotee for many years but moved to Epson because of the availability of continuous ink systems, which I have fitted to my R230
Cons: There is a MAJOR recurring problem with the paper feed. There are two lots of rollers - the first, which operate visibly on the right hand side of the paper feed. These at first were smooth rollers but the latest pair I had fitted are 'serrated' and do not slip so easily. The next rollers are the main feed rollers deep inside the machine and they will not provide continuously reliable service when doing very long print jobs. It is difficult to get at these rollers yourself unless you know how to completely dismantle and reassemble the printer. But this problem makes the R230 in the medium to longer term a thoroughly unreliable and frustrating machine
Overall: Excellent quality of output, but not very fast - it can take upwards of 5 minutes to print a full colour A4 photograph. The paper feed mechanism is not reliable. The machine is definitely NOT user friendly, as Epson deliberately design it so that parts that need periodic cleaning or replacement such as feed rollers and ink soak-pads can only be serviced by one of their agents. I also live and work in China and fortunately it is fairly easy to find a printer repair place that can do this with Epson printers - and inexpensively too. I also abhor the impertinence of Epson in building into the machine the facility whereby it will stop working after its on board computer registers a certain number of on-off cycles. There is software (SSC Service Utility) that overcomes all this but you really need to be a bit of a computer/printer nerd to understand how that works - I have SSC and I have saved a lot of time and trouble by using it.
Verdict - Nice machine but only when it works properly - I will not be buying ANY further Espon printers as long as I live - I think they are an arrogant and unhelpful bunch - in China particularly.
Pros: Can be found for a good price if you shop arround.
Reasonably good color reproduction.
Comes with bundled program to help you edit and then printout your photos or whatever else you like.
Cons: Inks can be expensive.
Overall: This is a relatively well made little printer. It produces quite good qulity picture reproductions. It is relatively compact & quiet too. I have owned two other Epson printers & after good results from those chose to pick this printer up as well. Though some people have complaiend about the paper feed i have not had any problems with it but then i only keep 20 or so pieces in the tray at any one time.
Pros: This machine gives exceptionally good output and is more sensitive than my monitor screen in that in some cases it prints what is not visible on the monitor. Very easy to use and, if fitted with a continuous ink supply system, the exorbitant cost of replacement cartridges is done away with.
Cons: Its paper feed mechanism is its weakest link after some time, the machine refuses to pick-up (photo) paper and can only be used if the paper is given a push to help it on its way. This is a MAJOR problem
Overall: Could be a REALLY reliable machine but like so many other printers it has this paper-feed problem. With bank ATM machines all over the world delivering hundreds of banknotes daily without any error at all, you would think that printer manufacturers would make a paper feed system that (a) is reliable for long periods and (b) is readily accessible for user-cleaning. This printer is not a cheap and cheerful toy - it cost me a fair amount of money and now after years of using HP printers, I try Epson and find they are no better. This performance is simply not good enough and if I get no satisfaction from my local Epson office (I live in China) I will sell it and buy something else. If wanting to buy this printer or ANY Epson machine with a friction paper feed - BEWARE! BEWARE! BEWARE! A machine that refuses to take its paper is of no use at all no matter how well it would print on it if it did!
Cons: it is my third time buying this machine, 5 to 7 months of using the problem gooossse paper jam
Overall: i think this photo r230 printer this would be the last one, for epson printer the output so exceptional, but the machine wont last for years, why?
Pros: I Like the quality of printer piture is very clear...
Cons: the printer head is very sinsetive hope that you have available printer head in other that we can raiper it or change it.
Overall: hope that you available printer head of epson r230 or all printer you have and served it longer to your costumer and they satisfied to used this product.
Pros: Great for Printing On Cd's, looks like the real thing.
Overall: Was very impressed with the cd printouts, and for any1 who cant use this printer, u would have to be pretty retarted. i just took a quick look at the user guide on how 2 do cd's and thats it. Everything is pretty straight forward and its a great printer for the price
