Do Not Buy This Machine – If you buy this printer as I did, you'll be stuck forever paying 5 times the price of ink replacement from Epson. The company sends updates through your computer that will recognize any other cartridge by the chip they use on theirs and will not accept it. This printer will not print with any other ink cartridge. I've tried every other workaround… Read more

including removing the entire software package, and tried all of the so called downgrade fixes on You Tube, and none of them work. The people who build and sell Epson printers including this 645 Workforce should all be wearing a mask. That way you can identify them as thieves.

January 6th 2019 Update: Epson criminals selling this junk!

The printer is slower than a snail trying to cross the street. The print heads stink at best, and Epson forces you into buying ONLY their ink cartridges by using a chip that rejects all other replacement inks at less than half the price of Epson's. You'll overpay for the cost of the machine many times over by having to pay their hyper-inflated prices for ink replacements. Trying to deal with the company is like dealing with your crazy Uncle that the family hides from the neighbors. I gave this crappy machine away to someone I don't like.

Rip Off – If you like slow printing speed, crap color printing, expensive ink toners then buy as many of these as you like. Did I forget to mention that if one of the ink cartridges run out you can't use it. Yep a printer that can't print in black if say the cayenne is out of ink. Awesome design guys, what will you think of next! a printer that refuses to print unless the feeder tray is half full....  Show details

Good for printing if you like cables and old software – Quality of print is very good, lots of options to print draft to good quality photos on photo paper. It can copy and is good quality, again lots of options. THE BAD -It does scan, but the software for scanning is atrocious. You will spend a couple of hours downloading this and then something will conflict! DO NOT buy if you need wireless… Read more

printing AT ALL... especially if you have a MAC or need AIRPRINT for iPad etc. it will give you grief....so much trouble trying to connect! some days wow it works ... but the problem is there is no options to move the picture on the paper, it will print from the top of the paper with no border! Not worth the head ache especially with so many other printers out there.

Works great - until you move house – It worked perfectly and I would have rated it 5 stars, but then I moved house. Re-establishing the network connection has been a nightmare running over several months. In short the printer cannot connect to the new network and keeps looking for the old setup (restoring factory defaults does not remove previous settings it seems). There… Read more

seems no solution. It still works fine via USB but you cannot print from tablets, via email or wirelessly. Epson Australia seem limited in their ability to resolve. Works well via USB, and wirelessly before I moved. Cannot re-establish wireless connectivity and you manual setup does not override previous settings

Did all the research - this is the one to get; here's why – I needed a new multifuction printer, and was frustrated with too much choice, and too little objective info. My requirements were simple: Must support AirPrint (Be able to print wireless and hassle free from iPad and iPhone.) Have low cost per page. (My children like to print a lot, and I did not what to be an ogre about it.) Inexpensive, but… Read more

not cheaply made, I want it to last, the kids are going to use it...

(Your requirements may be different)

I started off with a list of ±80 available models, mostly ink jets and a few laser ones too, AirPrint narrowed the selection down to 15.

Then I compared the cost per page both for B&W as well as for Colour and this brought my list down to 4 models, of which the Workforce 645 had the lowest cost per page of all.

Physical build quality, and all the 'nice to have' bells and whistles made it the one for me.

RRP is $249.00 (Jan 2012), but OfficeWorks had the best price of $178.00.

http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Technology/Printers-and-Scanners-and-Faxes/Inkjet-Multifunctions/Multifunction-Including-Fax/EPWF645

Epson have a promotion through March 2012 where you can get $70 back if purchased together with a spare set of inks, (you are going to need them anyway), but unfortunately OfficeWorks are not part of this promo.

https://www.clubepson.com.au/competitions/data/index.asp#9

Fortunately GoodGuys are part of the promotion, and they matched the $179.00 price, so it only cost me $108.00. Bargain.

Have had it now for a few weeks, and it is fantastic. Connects without difficulty to my wife's Windows PC and my Mac. Scanning is easy, even via the auto document feeder. Photocopy is quick too. I have no immediate need for the built in Fax function so have not tested that.

Print quality is excellent for a 4 colour printer.

Some printers offer 6 inks for more Photorealistic prints, but usually when I want to print Glossy photo's I want large prints to frame on the wall, and it is cheap and easy enough to do those at places like OfficeWorks.

$70 Rebate from Epson was deposited in my bank account ± 10 days later. Great service! Low cost per page, print speed, and warms up quick too.

Epson WorkForce 645 – Easy to use - does great photo prints. It can be used as a fax, even though I don't . Has a large ink capacity. Prints first time every time and does not smear or smudge when printing. Absolutely brilliant, Does everything I need and more. I would happily buy the same again Reliable

Why make it so tedious to setup? – Bought it for my daughter to finish her Uni studies and wanted it to perform wireless printing. It takes at least 30 minutes to set up for each computer. The wireless setup also requires that you put your computer close to the printer and enter a special menu in the printer because it uses the signal from your laptop. It set up correctly from 2… Read more

laptops and despite wasting another 2 hours did not set up from 2 others (1 laptop and 1 dektop). Disappointing!!

It is less noisy than my HP, but I don't think the print quality is as good and the black ink cartridge is much smaller. Overall I bought it because of it's price $145 and that it is a bit quieter, but I'm disappointed in the setup experience and needed to buy a USB printer cable to connect it successfully to the desktop. Cheap and relatively quiet Hard and unfriendly to set up. Small black cartidge.

Why does the US version do Fax to PC and the Australian version does not! What a waste of paper! – I needed something that would do Fax to PC, so as part of my research for this unit I googled "fax into computer 645 epson". The EPSON website specified it was able to do this, but didn't elaborate as to how. I purchased based on that advice, but have now installed to find it doesn't have Fax to PC (Something that similarly priced HP has).… Read more

Spoke to Australian (lack of) Customer Service who rudely advised the Australian model doesn't have that feature. In this day when saving paper is business (and environmentally) savvy this is not acceptable! At $149 cheaper than the RRP on the EPSON website. Why does the US version do Fax to PC and the Australian version does not?
