Aldi hedge trimmer – Typical of Aldi, they sell you expensive battery’s and charger, but discontinue the Gardenline hedge trimmer. The trimmer has been good WHY discontinue it. I need a new one and now I will have to buy new batteries and charger. Show details

Gardenline - Perfect little tool – I bought this cordless Gardenline Hedege Trimmer from local Aldi back in 2017. I use it each year. Excellent tool-no problems whats so ever to trim my Potostrum shrubs at my property 100m in total. I don’t understand why people are unhappy with it, as I absolutely love it. Gardenline tools are great for home use. It lasted 4 years and it stoped… Read more

Solid Product – Only had it for 1 week but so far it's great. It has the feel of a well built product and performs in the same manner. For $99 this is a great buy. It doesn't come with a battery or a charger which it states plainly on the box. If you don't bother to read what's on the box you shouldn't be allowed to post negative reviews regarding this.  Show details

snapped in two at the head – The hedger broke in two at the swivel area. Luckily I was not underneath. The black plastic is too thin and too brittle. I thought I might be able to use the chainsaw tilting part because the chainsaw keeps cutting out if the is cut is not a perfectly straight up and down but the two are not changeable. Avoid and buy one that is made from aluminium at the swivel area.  Show details

Fantastic for price – Totally happy with this unit since I bought it, I'm not really gentle with tools but keeping in mind it's price I am careful with it, it can be a little wobbly but overall it's quite good, sharp chainsaw and cuts thicker branches than I thought, the hedge trimmer works well, wouldn't say it's crazy powerful but no problems at all, and a $40 4ah battery lasts me at least half a day to all day and only charges in about an hour! Show details

Solid performance for the price – Bought it a couple of years ago and has been reliable and useful ever since. Nothing has gone wrong though now the chain is super blunt. Would definitely recommend it. Now just adding words to get to the minimum.

Great product works well – Once again generally surprised how effective and efficiently these aldi tools work. I have a large 3m tall hedge at my house and this product just powered through the hedge as some branches had a diameter between 3 to 12mm, it was sharp, easy to use and light enough to handle when fully extanded to its maximum length. Impressed!!!!

Gardenline battery – i purchased a Gardenline trimmer from Aldi and it ran for 3 yrs then battery died. the new battery and the negative and positive was different so soldered to the same setup as gardenline glued some plastic plates to the side with liquid nails to hold top to bottom and bingo runs like a charm no need to buy new trimmer.

Faulty chargers on Hedgetrimmer – Five stars are for ALDI but not for Gardenline's service. I have had my trimmer a few years now - it is great but I found the fault was with the charger - it does not start charging unless the battery is absolutely dead flat - you will notice the light stays green until you totally discharge it - it will go red then immediately change to green… Read more

- once it finally goes red when you plug it in you will get a good charge.

Shame on Gardenline for not knowing this and immediately remedying it - how many customers have they not only alienated of their own but soiled ALDI's reputation too. ALDI should sue them for sullying their name when the fault is clearly evident - you should be able to charge a Li-ion battery at any time - it does not need to be flat to charge it.

Gardenline do not deserve to be in business if they can't recognise such a basic issue and get their supplier to fix it!

I've found my suppliers are always happy to fix a problem because they want to keep doing business with me.

I still use mine very often but it annoys me no end having to flatten the battery completely.

ALDI are brilliant retailers and have always looked after me well if I have had a problem with anything.

Good machine, poor battery and lack of supply/service – The hedge trimmer worked well to begin with but the single battery supplied, soon faded in length of work time. It takes 2 hours to recharge and now only lasts 10 minutes. Service is difficult to contact and we are told that no resupply of batteries is available. With 3 batts. One could possibly still get the work done, but one poor batt can't cope.

Chargers and batteries – Places like battery world can replace the batteries by taking apart the old battery and replacing with new ones. Chargers can be bought from them or try J car electronics, even hobby shops may be able to get them. Hope this clue may help..and what about taking it back to aldi for a refund??  Show details

Best thing I've ever bought! – I have had no trouble with my trimmer, has made my life so much easier when trimming shrubs and small trees. Is light and manageable for me as I'm only short. Doesn't take all that long to recharge either. Have had to sharpen the blades once but then it's as good as new again!

never trust Gardenline products from Aldi – I've had my cordless hedge trimmer for a couple years now, the first time I used it the battery went flat after 5 minutes of normal use after been fully charged overnight. Will stick with more reliable brands which have Li-Ion batteries and not the old Ni-Cad batteries in future.

Gardenline hedgetrimmer – I had the same experience as the others concerning Aldi and Gardenline hedge trimmers. It is obvious that some of the battery chargers are faulty but they will not replace them. guarantee it is was replaced. In the 19 months since we purchased the hedge trimmer we were out of the country for 9 months it was not the battery that failed but the battery charger. So we have to pay for goods that are faulty. Aldi should try and hold it's good name and get rid of Gardenline as a suppler. I have bought good products from Aldi but I will never buy another Gardenline product.

December 30th 2014 Update:

The battery charger failed which made the product unusable. It is a common fault as other purchasers have had the same problem.( check website) Aldi Gardenline would not replace the charger under guarantee but would supply another if $42 was sent to them as with other purchasers.

dead.

I called the after sales service number supplied with the trimmer and left a message on their answering machine . After not receiving a return call for two days I decided to send them an email.

After another 5 days of not hearing from them I decided to call Aldi and they immediately transferred me to the Gardenline service section.

I explained what had happened and the lady became quite rude and said I had cooked the battery because I had left it on the charger after the charge lights had come on.

I asked her how long I had to remove the battery from the charger once the lights came on and she could not tell me. She then became quite aggressive and accused me of trying to con them. She then said she would get a technician to call me back and explain how long I had to remove the battery before it was destroyed. After another week I still had not heard back from them.

I counted how many battery chargers I have in my home and there are about 12 and not one of them will cook the battery if it is left on after charging.

I now have a $50 trimmer that has been used once for about two minutes and it is useless. Worked quite well. Rubbish battery charger and zero customer service.
