Giant Wow Cypress City Wow!! – Well yet another year has gone by and my darling Giant Cypress City is still such a wonderful machine. I serviced my GCC 2 weeks ago (I do this twice per year) and was surprised how little wear and tear this machine has suffered considering I ride her pretty much each day and was also involved in a fatal collision 3 months ago when I was run into… Read more
by a wild man riding a Malvern All-Star. The subsequent fall ruined my seat (but I was ok bar a few minor cuts), however the wild man unfortunately did not make it. I thanked God that I was on my girl especially when two of the attending paramedics made comment on how well my bike stood up after such impact. Thank you Giant for looking after me and my GCC riding friends!
Such a breeze to ride – Had my Giant Cypress for 3 1/2 years, couldn't be happier with it, comfortable, fast and stops well, great on hills, thought about upgrading it but around the $600 mark, I couldn't find anything as good to ride or as versatile, I'll be keeping mine a bit longer for sure.
Riding strong after 7 years – Best investment given the price. I have ridden over all terrains and hasn't yet let me down. It's comfort and performs well in all conditions.
2012/13 model – I went to a reputable bike shop in the west Island area of Montreal and purchased the Giant-Cypress. I love this bike. Sooo comfortable, easy to ride, overall quality is outstanding. My first ride was 20km long and averaged 19km per hour on an undulating boulevard with a slight headwind. The hour long ride that was performed at good cadence was… Read more
superb, nothing numb or sore and could have continued easily for another hour. BTW, I haven't ridden a bike in many years!. I am 53 and I felt 33 riding it! It's slightly on the heavy side but that's fine, a definite secure feeling riding her is worth it. Not as fast as a road race bike but if you use it commute or exercise like I do, it performs well. Very happy I got this model. I would have preferred disk brakes but the cantilever ones work great, even wet. Super comfortable ride, outstanding overall quality, well balanced Slightly on the heavy side. Would like Disk brakes but the ones supplied work fine.
Bad – If you like the look of it, and don't care how it rides / weighs / lasts, then go for it. However, if you actually plan to use it much, I would suggest you compare with other brands same price range, and I am sure you can do a lot better..... I guess my view of bikes is a bit different from the others: I don't care what a bike looks like, I only… Read more
care how it runs. I buy a new cheap-ish bike every 2-3 years, ride it 10k a day to work, and then donate it to charity when it packs it in after 5-10,000 km. I have used Trek and other bikes in this price range, and this is my first experience with Giant.
It is a bike - I am struggling to find many other Pros to mention.... It doesn't compare well with my last few bikes in this price range It is heavy (much heavier than equivalent Trek I had last) - at this price should be lighter. I have had a problem with brakes shuddering on front wheel. It is not warped - just badly made because brakes grip on uneven weld on rim (as confirmed by shop that sold it to me).
I have had it six weeks, and it is already rusting on the brake tubes (where wire guided into rim) [admittedly these have been very wet weeks in Sydney, but although I have ridden it a couple of times in the rain, it is stored under cover at home and work]. Just feels very heavy and clunky to ride.
Can't adjust angle of seat.
The tires somehow hold water and spray it forward and into your face when it is wet - have not had that problem before. Also had a skid last week on dry ground - not something I am used to (and especially not expected on brand new tires)
Excellent – a good all round bike, plus a nice upright riding position for the city and recreational riding, practical and sturdy. not too expensive. I'd recommend this if you want a decent bike to get around on. a good range of gears, a nice hybrid bike to get around on from a good bike company. a little heavy, but you expect that for the price you pay
