Awsome Beast which will cut anything with ease – I have just purchased a Fastcut 32 with the Kawasaki 21.5hp V-twin to replace my old 16/34 Deluxe (see another review by me). The old mower had clocked up 2,000 hard hours and whilst the motor and body was OK, the drive needed some work. The 21.5hp for the 32 inch could be regarded as an overkill, but the smooth running Kawasaki and V-Twin sound… Read more
and the ability to cut long thing wet grass in my paddock with ease was the selling point. There is little that has changed over the years. The same solid build quality and proven drive system remains the same. Nice recent aditions are the easy seat adjustment, emergency foot brake, more positive lock on the cutter lever. Given that over 15 years nothing much has changed indicates Greenfield have got it right. Comparing this to my old mower, the 32 inch fastcut lacks headlights (who needs these?), the wider cut (dont notice much difference and gives me slightly more time to enjoy ther V-twin), slightly larger tyres (the ones on the Fastcut 32 are fine for my sloping rough bush paddock), and the diff lock. I was interested to see if the fixed axle would cause scuffing or plough steering. Honestly I hardly notice any difference between this and the deluxe with locking diff. No scuffing on my lawn even on tight turns (providing you slow down a bit) Of course the fixed axle will provide no wheel slip on sloping ground. Providing all your driving is on grass, the lack of a diff wont cause any issues. Given the price difference between the standard and deluxe, I would recommend the standard 32 inch as better value for money for all but the largest of properties when you are mowing more than 1 to 2 hectares. Greenfields are more expensive than most others on the market, but you are paying for reliability, solid build, availability of spare parts and I challenge other mowers to take 2,000 hours of flogging. Greenfields have good resale value. I reckon these are great (that is why I bought another) and the ease of cuting either good lawn or long rough paddock grass is amazing. No real niggles - the bigger motor is a bit thirsty and will need refilling every hour or so. Grass still collects on the deck. Heel and toe can be a bit hard to manage for my (very short) wife, particually in reverse (but no problem for my 6 foot frame and size 11 boot). Do yourself a favour and get the 21.5hp machine in Kawasaki Green. It looks, goes and sounds great and mowing the paddock is now something I look forward to.
4 year update. So far no problems. Mower serviced annually and the Kawasaki engine runs like a charm. The drive belt broke after 3 years at 130 hours which I replaced myself. A bit fiddly but following the manual and ensuring the belt was correctly aligned to the pulleys wasn't too hard. I purchased a Greenfield catcher which would probably work better with 4 blades as it does choke up quickly. I would not recommend the catcher for long and or wet grass but does pick up well on the lawn although requires frequent emptying. I am not particularly gentle with the mower and it is used on slopes that exceed the safety recommendations. Overall very happy with this mower and would recommend it for unstoppable cutting in long rough grass as well as a reasonable finish on well maintained lawns. Well Built, Powerful, Greenfield reliability and Australian Made, Cuts long rough grass with ease, will last me out,
Update April 2019. I added an extra set of blades which now both make for a smoother cut on the lawn and provide enough lift to fill the catcher. You dont need high lift blades. Four normal blades make more than enough lift for the catcher and general mowing. Running 4 blades does require a bit more power but with the 21.5hp Kawasaki there is more than ample for cutting anything. Still no problems with the mower. Clutches are smooth as when new and cutter belt still looks fine. Strange that there are some negative comments about this mower, perhaps the B&S engines are more problematic, however with my machine I still rate it as Excellent. Now Cox has taken over Greenfield I could not comment on the newer mowers.

Good ride on lawn mower – Had this ride on for 9 years second hand. It is a lawn mower and does this very well, starts first time every time, I do all my own maintenance and repairs, and I find it a little difficult to replace belts, the use of welded to frame nuts would make a huge difference to servicing. easy to manoeuvre but turning circle is large. I have used on… Read more
level flat lawns and sloping, sloping does cause an uneven cut, but I have found this to be the case with some top of the range European and US makes as well. I have also used it on rural lots with trees roots and rocks, the mower blade cutting set up is very forgiving if a large stick root or rock is encountered, doesn't do the blades much good, but unlike cutter bars there is little or no impact on the cutter deck or mountings. This is 12.5HP Briggs and Stratton Motor. I always top up fuel before using and find that on well maintained lots it will use 1.25 tanks on a full acre. On hard going long grass and weeds it become much more thirsty. A couple of Hrs on this mower and I have had enough and need a spell, that's not bad, I class it as only slightly better than average. These mowers a no longer manufactured as far as I know.
Little rugged work horse – Bought new 6 years ago for my 2.5 acre residential block with slopes, trees and rocks. Never had a service and still starts first go. Mowed thick 1.5 ft grass and got through it (went slowly). Only cons are no fuel gauge and nowhere local sell parts. Show details
Packs a punch and seems reliable – Bought this second hand with 125 hours up. First use, the drive belt broke. Figured it had sat in the previous owner's shed for a while. After a service, it ran better and cut through hip-high grass, surprising my neighbours. Have only added another 3 hours but I find it quite comfortable to sit on. It has a surprisingly small turning circle,… Read more
vutt8ng close to trees. I always have my rear diff engaged as I'm up and down slopes constantly. I try not to push the slope angles but as long as I drive with straight wheels, she does it fine. Wet grass can be a bit slippery.
I bought this as it's easy to service. So far, 5 months in, I'm happy.

Never again – After we bought our 2.5 acre block, I bought a Greenfield fastcut 32. First year or so was okay. Then things started to go wrong. I only used the mower 4-5 times a year and every time there was a problem. It seemed like I was constantly having to replace something.. Things came to a head when the side of the block literally blew off when I was… Read more
using it, missing the top of my boot by inches. When I took it to the dealer to get a new engine, they told me the back axle was bent and would also have to be replaced. The cost of repairs was over a thousand for a mower which was purchased new less than six years before and had done just over 50 hours. They offered to buy it back from me for $500. Ended up using my Victa classic cut push mower. Or if grass is too thick, pay someone $150 to slash it. Put some rescue sheep down the back and mowing time halved. Mowing time has gone from 1.5 to 4 hours but when you take account of the aggravation, the downtime for diagnosis and repair of faults, the time is not much different. Seems that Greenfields are either very good or very bad. Mine was very bad. As a consumer, I shouldn't have to roll the dice when spending $4,000.
Dissapointed – Bought a 2014 Greenfield with a 2 cylinder Husqvarna engine.. engine was rebuilt at 50hrs, just snapped a drive shaft at 200 hrs and was told today by my dealer Cox now owns them and parts are impossible to get especially for a major repair... shout me down or direct me to some in Vic Aust who can repair the unit, happy with either but buying what you think is good based on price is a modern fallacy... horrible machine – I have had this 32 fast cut "professional" series for two years. There seems to be two reviews for these good and really bad. I have a $5000 lemon. Cuts unevenly on the slightest slope. Engine will fill with fuel if you do not turn the petrol inline tap off. Breaks cutting belts every couple of hours. I mean EVERY couple of hours! That's $35 min.… Read more
Had it in the shop three times over just this issue to be told; I fitted it incorrectly; I hit a rock: I ran over something!... Turns like a boat and rear wheels chew up the lawn and drives straight on when trying to turning. It has an internal decompression leaver with a tiny spring which fails and that will be $500 rebuild later. I complained so hard about this that greenfield gave me the $50 part and the dealer charged me $500 to put it in. The position of exhaust puts the driving right foot directly in its discharge path , so you have to drive it with your foot in an uncomfortable position. Driving sidewise across a hill can cause oil to leak causing dramatic billowing white smoke. The spacings between the bolts on the head of the motor are so far apart on one side that the head will warp and blow the head gasket. Did this within two months so was warrenty issue. consequently has to be driven for short stints to try and stop this and the cost to replace the head gasket. It has no fuel guage!! The body is made from pressed sheet metal so every edge is sharp. Up close it looks very cheap. The catcher is rubbish, hard to use , expensive and the grass must be very dry to even pick up 10 liters before it chokes up and stops working. Very bad. Thought I was doing the right thing buying Australian made for Australian conditions. Bull ship. OK at knocking down tall weeds. Horrible for lawns. At least they got the yellow colour close to the LEMON it should be. EDIT 8/5/20. blew the cam shaft again after 3 months in the shop waiting for a new cam, got it home did 1Hr mowing and broke both belts.

Had a Fastcut 34 25 hp for nearly 10 years. Excellent UNTIL. Drive idler pulley failed. 2-piece pulley and I wonder why they were made like that. Just a normal V belt pulley would suffice. and they still make them (COX) but they don't make parts for them. That's just disgusting, I think. Here's me with a perfectly good mower with a probably 30 dollar failed stupid pulley, and a mower that I paid 6,600 for 10 years ago and now is totally useless.
Bought a 21hp 34 inch cut deluxe with an aluminium deck in 2015. The machine is great, but the engine is rubbish which is such a shame. At the time of purchase this engi engine was the only choice, maybe due to their going bankrupt around that time, not sure. gadget and make the engine run better than it ever has. Good thing about this mower is it repairable by yourself with basic tools not including the engine. Don't cut rocks, it's not a stone cutting machine and it will be fine.
Greenfields Evolution – I bought this Greenfields Evolution used on Ebay many years ago. It has an 11.5 hp Briggs and Stratton engine. I have used it on a rocky country property with heavy grass. It runs well, mows well and just keeps going. The only issue I have had is that the drive chain has popped of a couple of times and it is a pain to reseat. I suspect it has… Read more
stretched and the manual provides instructions on how to tighten it so that is my next project. Great mower. No brake, you just use forward or reverse, which means if you break the drive chain you are in a free roll and will have to use the emergency/parking brake.
Rubbish - may have been good in the past – No not the best, the early ones might have been ok, I have had nothing but problems from the very beginning and now the agent is offering me $1500 for it in exchange for a zero turn, of course pay the difference!! as a result. The blades are totally useless, they just bend on any small rock. No recommendation comes from me. don't even think that you have any adjustment on the height - just ONLY CUT HIGH ig you dont want to keep replacing blades. I have said occasionally for how often but it is through the season as regularly as necessary - not excessive.
Amazing! Really is “excellent though innovation” – I’ve had mine now for about eight years and now done 758.9 hours on the clock. still starts first pop and only just replaying the drive belt now. I own a farm in Australia and I pull trees, tow trailers even a friends charade made it three houses down and broke, so I come down and pull it back up to our house (fairly steep hill.) Any way love mine and I recommend it to everyone who asks. Show details

Absolutely the greatest – Traded a Rover Rancher that caused me a heap of trouble (only three years old) for the Greenfield Fastcut 32. Cut my mowing time almost in half and does and excellent job. I do my 2.5 acres in four bits (having a break and refuelling every break) mostly uneven but grassed. Check the oil and battery ever time it comes out of the shed and give the… Read more
top of the cutterdeck a clean. Shés now done 486.9 hours and I've only replaced two batteries and a drive belt (Feb 2018). Goes back to the selling dealer every Feb/March for an annual service. Replace the blades on a regular basis (about $20) as required.
Cuts the grass beautifully and evenly. Wouldn't buy anything else.
Excellent mower – Have owned this mower for 18 years and after all these years of abuse it just keeps going. Being in the mowing business I use it on extremely rough overgrown terrain and normal lawns on a frequent basis. It has rarely caused me any problem other than normal consumables (blades and occasional drive or cutter belt which are priced under $40 each) .… Read more
Easy to maintain and repair and parts both genuine and aftermarket are always available. I use it on large and small blocks with beautiful results without a catcher. If a mulching plug is used be prepared to go through blades quite quickly but in all honesty no mulch plug is needed if you use a correct mowing technique. 10 out of 10 for build quality and cutting quality.
Pretty good but not as robust as advertised – Purchased my Greenfield Fastcut 9 months ago. I've only had two issues with it and to be fair I drove and cut over some fairly rocky terrain. 1st problem is something blew a hole thorough my deck. 20 cent price hole, must have been a rock but to puch through the steel I was shocked. 2nd incident the main brake came undone. Sent it in for repairs… Read more
500 dollars later and a full service no more issues. Cuts nice and runs well. Not too bad on fuel. Not as robust as they claim but still decent. I'm happy with it.
Disappointing product, even worse customer service – I have owned a Greenfield for a year and it has been nothing but a hair-tearing-out experience. It has been back to a mechanic six times under warranty so far. I fell for the 'made in Australia for Australian conditions' propaganda thinking that I was doing the right thing, even though it cost a bit more. How wrong I was. After getting nowhere… Read more
with the seller after 3 times trying to get the mower to even start, I went to Greenfield for help. Their customer service is almost non-existent and their attitude is arrogant. They blame Briggs and Stratton for anything that goes wrong. A second mechanic has been fixing entirely different issues under the B&S warranty. Every time I get it back from a mechanic, there is still something wrong with it. Like, it won't start, or it hasn't enough power to go up a small slope let alone do any speed on the flat or cut grass, or the engine is constantly backfiring and surging. This is how it performed after 3 visits to the mechanic and after Greenfield suggested a manual choke was installed. https://youtu.be/NqIYodwGNRQ This is how it performed after the second mechanic got involved to fix its lack of power issues https://youtu.be/6nWU5flIPhY. I just wanted to buy a new mower, keep it in the shed and mow paddocks on the weekends. Doesn't seem too much to ask when you pay over $6500. Beyond disappointed in this product and the company.
And even if I had no mechanical issues, I would say that it is not well designed. The hot exhaust comes out where your right ankle is and so you must wear boots and socks to protect yourself from being burned. It is hard for tall people to get on and off without scraping and bruising your legs, accidentally turning the key with your leg and switching it off, it is not comfortable to sit on for hours of mowing, and it smells very strongly of fuel fumes when running.
I don't recommend Greenfield – I have now been waiting for nearly 2 months to have a new deck put on my mower. The local agent has told me that Greenfield is out of stock of this part. I wonder why? Are there so many owners needing them they can't keep up with demand or do they not bother supplying parts once we have bought their mower. I bought a Greenfield largely because… Read more
it is Aussie made and as well I thought it would have been made for Australian conditions. However I now think they are not made for Australian conditions at all – only for a nice smooth lawn. The cutter disk is too weak and easily bent. The deck has holes in it from where stones or the blades have hit it due to the bending up of the disk. The deck needs to be made of strong steel and not a weak alloy. I've only used it for a total of 17 1/2 hours! I bought it about in Nov 2012.
Frankly I wish that I had bought some imported mower. It would have saved me some money and I can't see that it would be any worse than the Greenfield.
I wouldn’t recommend this mower unless you have only a very smooth area to mow.
11 years later (2023). The mower still runs well. I bought replacement steel deck (after factory model from a place in Queensland and a necessary (after factory) blade holder and spindle. These are all so much better than the original Greenfield parts and remain in good condition. I do find it a bit rough to ride on the not smooth ground on much of my property and still consider it a machine made only for smooth suburban backyards. I'm stuck with it as I can't afford to replace it with a different brand eg Husqvarna that I'd like to have. I still don't recommend Greenfield as there are far better buys out there.
Great for clearing ferral blocks and ok to poor at everything else – Well built for sure. Powerfull. Loves to plow through long overgrown underthatched ferral yards with ease. read up on hydro drives single wheel and live axel drives before you decide if this machine is for you. I didnt realise I would be purchasing a mower that steers this poorly. Good mower for what its good for. Im a contractor and have accepted that i will need many tools for different jobs
a machine thats cuts well with a floating out front deck that turns on a dime and has an great catching system that improves my cutting time and makes work a joy (caugh, Walker)
Or get this greenfields 25/32 with a steel deck for Feral Cheryl her 4 foot marshmallow weeds and the occasional brick. God knows the walker couldnt do what my greenfields does and I wouldnt use the greenfields for anything else.
Good all round mower – I hope my mower doesn't go down the path of Sailor Sam though. Just gone 21 hours and the drive belt shredded itself. He was surprised when i said it was my drive belt as he thought it was the cutter belt. … Read more
At 21 hrs and no other problem (apart from running over nylon bird netting that was my fault and cost me $100 to get the mechanic to untangle it) everything else is fine. I have to agree cleaning under the deck is a bit fiddly but i manage. I'll keep you posted.
Chews up belts like there's no tomorrow – Our fast cut 32 chewed up a belt at 20 hours ($70) and again at 23 hours, another $70! When you complain they compare it to a tyre getting a puncture (not the tyres fault) and that you have picked up a stick or a stone. That'll be $70 please. Greenfield never countenance that you could have a faulty belt, $70 thanks. Only get one of these if… Read more
you are happy with perpetually buying new belts, $70 a pop.
Anyone want to buy this one, only done 23 hours and cost $140 in parts so far... The future looks mighty expensive
Update Update Update!!!
The Greenfield agent in Casino, Days Machinery, has looked at the mower for me and fitted the new belt and told me I fitted it incorrectly.
These guys have really tried to solve this issue and deserve plaudits for that, unfailingly polite and they are trying to support the product they sold. No complaints there (whether they should ever have a Greenfield product in the first place is another matter, but they been been very helpful)
The manual for this mower shows the cutter belt going in the wrong path!!! Greenfield have checked and agreed that it is an incorrect diagram!
I will get a refund of the belts (at least I hope they will do what they say, I'll keep this updated)
When I realised this the production manager said " if I had taken to their agent it would have been on correctly" and " I should have called them to check if the diagram in the manual was correct" hmmmmm, what about the rest of the manual???
Really funny if it wasn't me.... Seriously guys, I have grave doubts about this company and their method of handling a complaint.
I shouldn't have followed their owners manual to replace a V belt???
I still wonder if this mower is fit for function actually....
Yet another update....wish it was good news..... the yellow peril has actually clocked up 37 hours of use in just over 2 years (I actually try and avoid using it) the pussy cat machine has now got petrol running out of the exhaust!!!!! I have taken the carbie apart and cleaned it and discovered that (thanks to you tube) most people in the USA just replace the whole carbie.
The lemon is now in the shed while I carry out yet more repairs!!!!!
Seriously, the worst way to spend $4,500 EVER.
A truly pussy cat machine that is as robust as a stale marshmallow, I dread mowing the lawns and although the huckster that sold it to my wife said "you can do a bit of paddock work with it as well" this machine is delicate, suitable for lawn bowls type greens.
Wish me luck please.....
Extremely happy with this beast – Originally had a Toro zero-turn which was giving me issues with the single hard blade. Bought a new 17.5HP Greenfield 32'' deck. Works like a mini tractor and like it should. Knocks off uneven ground easily and gives a nice cut still. Purchased for $4800 brand new in Victoria, Australia. Only issue I have found is the deck is hard to clean. I have… Read more

Handles everything – This is our first ride on mower and what a beauty it is. We are 10 hours in to its life and this machine can't be faulted so far. We are cutting 2 acres of grass. We have a decent sized front lawn with some fiddly areas, but we chose the Greenfield because it could handle rough going. Our main grass area is a rough ex horse paddock. The ground… Read more
is rough, it is pasture grass so it gets long & thick and there are sticks bigger than a finger in thickness, much bigger.
We did look at some of the other, cheaper brands. As soon as they said any stick bigger than a woman's little finger would be a problem we knew we had to go for something else.
The power of this unit coupled with a 32" cutting deck means it can cut through any grass. We have a sloping block out the back & it manages just fine. It also has something called swing back blades so if you do hit a rock or hidden tree branch it doesn't trash the spindle and destroy the machine. You will need ear muffs, the 25hp generates power & noise.
It also cuts the lawn with incredible ease & speed and leaves a great finish. It manages the tight areas well.
Expensive, yes. Worth every cent & we expect this machine will last a long time.
fast great mower had others wont go back greenfield is the best – tried other mowers rover and cox but greenfeild cuts mowing time in halve tall and short it handles it all i have mowed grass up to my waste and it turned it to lawn after two mows good on fuel easy to use tell every one how great it is Show details

I have mowed small trees, rocks, roots, stumps, you name it, and still going strong!!
My Dad mowed some long grass on the property 8 years ago, and accidentally mowed a grape vine made of hard core wire and star pickets........ Well it's safe to say Yes that stopped it!! I love this machine, and I strongly recommend this to anyone.

Poorly designed – I bought this mower new and I am very disappointed with it. No matter what we tried to fix the problem it has never cut evenly, the motor is far too powerful and uses far too much fuel. Because of the engine's power and the live rear axel the mower won't turn sharply, the power of the engine just pushes the front wheels straight ahead. The tyres… Read more
are constantly losing pressure and have to be pumped up. And now, even though this machine just mows lawns around a house and small orchid, at just 100 hrs the clutches are completely worn out! Another problem is your foot on the forward/reverse pedal quickly becomes uncomfortably hot from hot air blowing off the engine and the position of the pedal causes you to catch the back of your heel on the running board. I like the seat position adjuster and it is comfortable to drive. We also got a catcher for this mower and I can only say it is an over priced piece of crap. The rear door is stupidly weak and the spring is not strong enough to hold the open door off the ground when you lift the catcher up to empty it, so guess what happens when you move forward to let the clippings fall out!
I will never consider buying another greenfield mower. A cheaper imported mower for me next time.
I should add that I emailed Greenfield twice about the problems with this mower but I was ignored both times.
Performed very well – Used our new ride on mower for the first time in grass about knee high and very thick. It handled it very well. Fuel tank is quite large and in these conditions, lasted about three hours before refueling. The only thing I would change would be the cutting height, as for this type of grass it was too low and thus caused more stress on the engine. … Read more

"Built for Australian Conditions"..... rubbish – You pay for Australian toughness which just isn't there. Cutter belt fell off after 5hrs. If you drive on any slope with the left side of the mower down it will belch smoke. Even slight slopes. Cutter disc is soft, got so damaged I had to replace after 50hrs. @ my expense! Show details
Great mower - After sales service lousy – Gr8 mower until belt jumped off - just 2 months old and 7 hours work. Apparently a design fault and easily fixed...except you gotta bring mower back ! Husband away. No ute or trailer. 50 k distance. Grass growing at a rate of knots. In my opinion after sales service POOR ! So...while my neighbor is mowing between downpours on his Rover ride-on, all I can do is watch with envy ! A great product let down by 2nd rate service. Shame.
Hour meter problems – I brought my new greenfield standard series in July 2015 very excited. After about 20 hours use the deck belt has now come off twice when it hits a thick section of Kikuyu mowed weekly. The first time I thought that is unusual - now I am disappointed. and something must have dislodged the belt - yes - thick grass !!! .My original second hand greenfield never did it once in 10 years of hard work on a sloping half acre block. Also when I bought it new in July 2016 it sat it in the garage till about October with the key in the ignition. After about 10 hours mowing I checked the hour meter and was amazed to see it has 40 plus hours on it. I was horrified.
I spoke to my greenfield dealer and they said "did you leave the ignition on". but did not ask did you leave the key in the ignition. It was not left on. Obviously not if the battery did not go flat.
I now take the key out and leave it in a separate place. Very disappointed - now the total operating history of the mower is incorrect. Unbelievable.
November 6th 2017 Update: Greenfield production manager
Problem was drive belts were coming off a new ride on mower. I wrote to Greenfield and they responded well. They sent guides to the local dealer who fitted them. It has been running well ever since. I am happy with Greenfield's response and the ride on mower. Recommend Greenfield mowers.
2 months and waiting – We have been waiting 2 months for parts for the repair of out greenfield, we thought buying Australian made we wouldn't have this problem. Our local service guys say this not so unusual with greenfield. Will be looking at other brands to buy in the future. I wish we had know the problem with parts with greenfield mowers!
Bullet Proof – I have had many other ride on mowers from other much larger manufacturers and they don't even come close to this mower! When the person examined on arrival checked the air filter it was clean, check the oil fine but now I am being told that to fix it will cost between $1800 - $ 3,000 they now claim the air filter was dirty and it had no oil, they put a litre in and it leaked, the mower is garaged and there is no evidence of a drop of oil where it kept.
The other major problem with this mower is that if you leave the key in the ignition even when its in the off position the hour clock still ticks over therefore my mower has ten hours more on it than actually used, I found out the hard way. That is a ludicrous to the extreme.
The people who sold it to me are now claiming that I never had it fully serviced despite a $500 odd bill and it hasn't been in the shop four times I believed I am being scammed but regardless a mower that has done so little hours should not have had any problems . I have lived on a farm for 35 years and know how to maintain machinery. I have a 34 year old push mower Rover with a Briggs & Stratton engine and it still runs perfectly.
Greenfield is rubbish and this particular distributor is rubbish as well. I truly believe that because I am a woman they think I know nothing about machinery well their wrong. if you are looking for a mower buy anything but steer clear of Greenfield.
A final point I even sent Greenfield an email but of course no response " happy to take you money but when something goes wrong do not expect any service.
