Hitachi SFP80DJ / SFP90DJ

10 out of 5 – This is now over 20 years old and has never missed a beat. It washes superbly even though it has no agitator. No tangles either. I don't know if they make these now but I would buy a Hitachi again.

My Fantastic – I have owned and used my Hitachi PAF-160LP since 1986. I had small children with sports whites and a husband with overalls covered in grease and it never missed a beat. Now it is on its last legs and i need to purchase another machine but don't know which one will compare to the longevity and performance of this Hitachi. washed everything spotless – have owened the older model for 15 years used 3 loades a day for everyday for 15 years. used to wash cloth nappies clean and was very fast and quiet. the sadest day was when it decided not to turn the bottom thing to wash the clothes. it had seen better days as it was placed outside as we did not have an internal laundry at the time. catch the hot morning sun on it, a bit of rain even though undercover. went to put a load on one morning and heard a horrible grinding noise. called the repair man and said that the gearbox has exploded and he can't buy them anymore. i nearly started to cry. went into harvey norman one day and asked for the brAND hitachi NO LONGER AVAILABLE. so many pros i can't list them all the day it died after 15 years

Excellent – Massive load taker, quiet,easy to use love the fact it has child lock, it has great finish not too plastic like some I have seen. I am also impressed with amount of water it uses. standard warranty plus my extended is a joy. I also must say that the control panel is great as it tells you how much water, powder etc to use for a wash, small or large. All the diffrent water levels and at last something with "fuzzy logic" that works. Dinky tune at end of the wash. Which can be turned off.

Terrible – We purchased the 8kg version of this maching in 2006 as I was using my great grandmothers old hitachi for years until it had seen better days (20 + years old)! an 'E9' error. We called the recommended repairer who advised that the control panel had broken. This was going to cost aroudn $400 to have it replaced and it still may not fix the problem. As Hitachi has left the Australian market, there was no warranty on the part once installed and there was nothing further that could be done. Great machine, but once broken expensive to repair. Needless to say we purchased another brand that is still in the Aust market. No aggitator in the centre - like a front loader on its side! Jet dry function, the machine tells you how much powder to use and water levels. No problems until 12 months out of warranty

Good – I loved this machine, it gave a great wash, and especially for me, lint was properly collected by the lint filters. The wash cycle also was not to long. Unfortunately the gearbox died after 2.7 years and that was it. I made a mistake and bought a fisher and paykel aquasmart which doesn't even wash properly great wash, capacity, fantastic lint filters gearbox died after 2 years and 7 months
