Beware this faulty product – Its the worst vac I have ever used or paid for. its head is bad, both of them are bad. the handle where it joins the tube to the head is so little it does not fit properly and falls out all the time . the chord is so short its impractical and to empty it is very hard. To put it back together is very hard and can cause it to break so its useless.… Read more
worst ever i cant even justify the one star honestly . so so so sad about how much i paid for it brand new too.

Rock solid, absolute beast – Only had it for 2 years, but moving from a Dyson to this has been an absolute pleasure (as pleasurable as vacuuming the house can be...) Picks up 99% of debris from carpet that includes a long haired dog who enjoys digging and chewing dog treats on the carpet. Couldn't recommend more. Show details · 1
Absolutely Brilliant – This vacuum has great suction all the time and sticks well to the carpet when sucking the dirt up. Years of dirt just keeps coming out my carpet. We live in the country where a constant flow of dust enters the house, the carpets are old and flat but are coming back to life. It amazes me every time I use it! I can empty the dust compartment for… Read more
each room and it is full. The bagless construct makes dust removal easy and the power beater head that thumps the carpet to bounce the dirt out of the carpet works a treat. Love this vacuum! Makes vacuuming a pleasure to do. I've had this machine for at least 3 years and love it to bits.
Very good cleaning power for carpets – I am quite happy with this vacuum cleaner. The power heads can pull out almost all sand and dust from the carpets. Need to change the power head with brush one for cleaning the tiles which can be bit of a hassle while vacuum a small home with some tiles and carpet. Got to get repaired 3 times in 2 years but the service provided by Godfreys was… Read more
good, didn't ask a question and directly sent it to manufacturer but had to wait for at least 10 days for it to come back. Once it was a problem with the handle extension button, once the suction got lost of all of a sudden and the other time the handle started to get a big crack near the power head switch where you hold the handle. The main drawback for this cleaner is the handle got into problem with it twice. Even though hard to manoeuvre with the heavy power head but the cleanliness you get is really awesome.

Worst Vacuum Cleaner I have ever bought! – As mentioned by other users, the plastics bits break, the metal extender wouldn't stay extended, the suction is appalling (can't even pick up grains of sea salt!). I have to sweep my floor AFTER I have vacuumed. Paid a hefty price for a piece of rubbish. Will never buy a Hoover product again. Show details
Expensive for its handleability – Although the suction is good, it is not easy to swap the heads between the carpet head and the hard floor head. The hose constantly gets tangled, and it is not easy to drag around the house. I have gone back to my old Vax vacuum I had prior to the purchasing the Hoover. Show details
Motor burned out after 4 years! – Paid $430 in 2012. It works well and easy to maintain(Dust Canister Cleaning and Filters Cleaning). However, first 2 years the Telescopic Tube and Power Cable broken (covered by 3 year warranty). Then Jul 2016 the motor burned out after 4 years of regular household use. Shame just run out of warranty. Show details

Great – This is a great little vacuum cleaner at a reasonable price. My Dyson lasted for quite a few years but needed to be replaced and I didn't want to pay too much. Godfrey's was a great place to shop with many models to choose from and helpful staff willing to demonstrate and advise. The suction is excellent but the best feature is the vacuum right up… Read more
to the edge of the skirting board. the whole machine is light and easy to use and the drum is easy to empty.
Good sturdy no frills option – Good suction on rugs and polished floors. Also on tiles. I haven't used it on deep pile carpet. Very easy to put together and put away. Fairly simple to empty. Strong plastic body, but still quite light. Plastic hose seems sturdy, with metal extending pipes, which add a little to the total weight. It comes with a useful and good quality mop attachment. I have been using it for 4 months and am very satisfied with performance and ease of use. Show details
Well....I killed it – Paid $700 or so for this vacuum 1.5 years ago thinking it would last me a good while. Has been treated well, always maintained filters cleaned etc. vacuumed my lounge room today and it just stopped. I thought it may have over heated even though it was only in use for maybe 10 minutes. Allowed a few hours and tried again, still nothing. Rang… Read more
Hoover, waited on hold for 15 minutes to be asked to leave my name and number and they will get back to me. Some how I doubt that's going to happen. Waste of money, should have stuck to an elcheapo Kmart model.
Cheap plastic lets it down – Almost every clip and plastic parts, including the lugs that stop the cord from retracting have broken. It is a pity, as after we had the power head bearing replaced twice, it works very very effectively. However, all the plastics parts have broken with normal use, which renders this machine absolutely useless.
Waste of money – I too wish I'd found this site before spending over $700 on the worst vacuum cleaner I've ever owned. The power head has broken numerous times and is now broken again and out of warranty - it is also very hard to manipulate. The suction for hard floors with the smaller head is terrible. Overall, very disapointing
Motor burned out after 3 years – When new, it had powerful suction and was fairly quiet. Filters were cleaned regularly, however the motor burned out after 3 years of regular household use. I opened it up to diagnose the problem - simple construction internally, although some of the wires looked as though they'd been stressed (eg: bent spade lugs on the switch). The only… Read more
electronics in the machine is a slow-start triac circuit, which was still fine.
Overall this would be an OK vacuum for light/infrequent use if priced under NZ$200, but it is certainly not value for money above that. I will not be replacing it with the same model.

Not happy Hoover! – I paid $750 for a good, reliable vacuum cleaner and I ended up with a piece of rubbish. The suction is good but the cord constantly twists on itself and the whole thing died just after the warranty period ended. That would be okay if it was a cheaper vacuum but not at $750. I'm not buying Hoover again.
Throw Your Money In The Bin And Save Yourself Some Heartache – Great unit for the first 6 months then it falls apart. There are not enough words allowed in this review to list how many things broke. On the plus side their customer service is non-existent. I will never buy another Hoover product again, even if I had ebola and they were the only company with the cure.
Should have checked the fine print – Money grabbing Had the unit for bit over 2 years, Traced the stopped unit to the power head, Motor in head has failed, checked with head office approx price for motor is $55.00 but cannot purchase replacement motor, must purchase the total head unit for $225.00 corp greed again, by by to Hoover products
A kids toy is made better – The sales person went all out at Godfrey's to sell my wife and I the bag less Hoover 7010 but I was put of by a few things. I didn't want to spend that much; even after telling the sale person we still had our Kambrook going after almost 6 years. The main reason that put me of with the Hoover 7010 that was the obvious small gauge of the… Read more
electrical cable and I was told that it was that size so that the machine could be pulled over the cable more easily. That was the first thing to go. When I rang the store and told them it had no power to the motor (I have a voltage meter to check) they asked me did the cable get hot and do I use it for long periods? It's a vacuum; of course it's on for long periods so we can vacuum the house! Obviously there ARE problems with the cable sizing. It ended up having the plug replaced and we were without it for a couple of weeks. We kept using the Kambrook.
The handle piece also continually kept falling out of suction pipe and it has almost always had to be used 2 handed. I have noticed since we bought it that, the curved handle on the end of the hose that goes into the chrome pipe was wearing out to the point of splitting in at least 3 places as the plastic pipe itself got paper thin; (all one replacement part #31220423 for $99 plus delivery; but out of stock for 5 weeks; why out of stock?) but Hoover would not give me one unless I took it back to Godfreys. So; I am a tradie; so I cut the split end off and stuffed it back in the chrome pipe and wrapped it in duct tape. Works good now!! except the cable still gets hot so I get the Kambrook out that is now 8 years old. Follow your gut instincts, if it looks like a rat and it smells like a rat.
As an update:The main hose connection has since broken and been duct taped back on, shortly after posting the original review. And on 6th February 2015 the darn thing blew up! I had vacuumed the lounge and because the cable was getting hot again, I decided to wait before I did other rooms. I waited some time (over an hour) and attempted to vacuum the rest. Sparks flew and a burning smell poured out. The vacuum is dead! This all happened during the warranty period! I took it to the dump this morning. I did not take it to Godfreys or Hoover because I do not want a replacement, even if offered one! $499.00 down the drain! We got the 8 year Kambrook Jaguar up from downstairs, still works a treat!
Update 7-Sept-2015:Back in Feb 2015, we bought another Kambrook KBV480 as a replacement for the Hoover. We shopped online at Billy Guyatts for $140 and it is a fantastic bagless vacuum cleaner. The old Kambrook is still going too, and is used downstairs only. So we have 2 Kambrooks going strong. Thank you Kambrook and Billy Guyatts for helping normal people get a product that is well worth the price.
Heap of Rubbish – Had the unit for 3 years and it is clearly rubbish. I found it had good suction but is very heavy and it continuously had something break, the handle rod, hose connection on a number of occasions, motor replaced?, power head repaired 3 times on last attempt they replaced it with a much older, worn with dirt build up and scratches on the bottom and… Read more
have tried to claim it was mine. They can't explain why the replacement fits under our hall table when MINE wouldn't. Don't trust them !!!!
Hoover 7010 - the 'Specials' aint that Special - BUYER BEWARE – Bought this machine based on the video and website. Very disappointed to open the box and find that the floor heads bear no resemblance to the one shown in the video and all but one photo on the Godfreys website. Makes me think that they have substituted a lot of the good stuff (motors, tools, etc) out of it, to get the price down to the… Read more
'less than half price' advertised.
Also my friend that bought one 2 years ago showed the box showing a 3 year warranty. Website now shows 1 year.
Everything is screaming 'buyer beware'
Handle shattering - cheap plastic – My machine worked brilliantly for the first 12 months, and then the handle began to break apart at the nozzle. It is impossible to use now. The wand also stopped clicking into place, and I have had to gaffa tape it up in order to use it. Definitely not purchasing a Hoover ever again! It says 3 year warranty on the vacuum cleaner, but apparently that doesn't include the hose or wand.
Wish I never bought it! $750 down drain! – Bought this machine at Godfreys along with an extended Warranty. 6months later and the head sharded. Took it in under warranty and they repaired it but it came back more broken. Returned it AGAIN and the guy at Godfreys said they missed a screw and broke the neck. They refused to replace it and just sent it back for repairs. Went back to get it… Read more
and the guy at Godfreys said Hoover will only repair it not replace it.
A year later the stupid machine won't work! I called Hoover and was advised due to the company I bought it from closing down and me losing my warranty, they can't do anything. Now I have a broken machine that should last years not a year. I feel completely ripped off again by Hoover and even though I have done nothing but constantly look after this machine - it's just not working! Premium price tag for rubbish!
Dont buy – This would be the worst Vacuum I ever brought, in the 3 years I have had it back 5 times for broken parts and the Turbo head breaking. I wish I found this site prior to purchasing this vac. It has now broken for the 6th time (turbo head) and the final time. As it is now out of warranty and it will cost me to fix I refuse to waste my hard earned… Read more
$ in fixing it as it will only break again in a few months. I am looking at going back to bagged vac's a miele which I have heard nothing but good things about.
I will never ever buy a hoover vac again.
The only nice thing I can say about this, is the staff at Hoover have been absolutely wonderful just a shame they have to deal with bad products.

Avoid at all costs (especially the $600 I paid) – The plastic is cheap and breaks easily (power head casing broke within first two weeks after accidentally bumping the skirting on the wall). The head is heavy and not manoeuvrable at all. Worst feature is the bagless design - dust goes everywhere when emptying and the design means that pet fur is sucked past the usual filters into the actual… Read more
cyclonic unit which means you have to pull it to bits to remove it - this involves getting covered in dead skin dust and having to use the vacuum again to clean the area you are standing in. The worst purchase I have ever made after allowing myself to be conned into this by Godfrey's. I hate Godfrey's now, and I mean really hate. If you told me you worked there I'd punch you in the face for being guilty by association.
Hoover Alergy vacuum cleaner – I have only had the hoover for a month. Would I have bought it without my husband around noooo it is cumbersome, awkward, heavy in the hand, and very hard on your lower back, and my arm aches when finished. Does it do a good job at present yes. But so did my Miele. Do I see a difference in the carpet No. All in all like the Dysons you pay big money for just the name. It is certainly not made for women in mind.
Good for carpets, rubbish for everywhere else – I like the power head for my carpets but with the normal bit to clean tiles has barely any suction.. I paid $650 for this and pretty disappointed. It's messy to empty and the filter gets jammed. the plastic bits on it are starting to get jammed also...... Wish i read the reviews before buying the piece of junk.
Absolute rubbish – I wish I had seen this site before I forgot to send in the warranty registration to Hoover – since I cannot find the receipt they refuse to accept a claim on the warranty after only barely 2 years of ownership. A lot of the faults noted above have been suffered by me after about 18 months – the handle extender clip has jammed open, the plastic… Read more
collar attachment on the power head is cracking and tied together with plastic ties, the floor vacuum attachment slips off, the clip to the power head is worn so when I pull back on the pole when the power head is on, the motor in the power head cuts off. An absolute piece of junk. I am using the 8 year old Miele we put int he garage
Worst quality vacuum I've ever owned – This vacuum is terrible, avoid it at all costs. I paid $750 for it and I would rather be using a $30 model from a department store. All the plastic pieces on it crack. The clip to hold the pipe extended was the first to go, so you cannot choose the length of the pipe, it doesn't catch until it's at it's full length (I see this mentioned in… Read more
someone else's review also). There is a big crack in the plastic near the handle which catches my hand in it and pinches my skin multiple times every time I use it.
The head broke down within the first three months. Godfreys did fix it, but this took weeks and they would not give me a replacement or loaner head so for weeks I was unable to vacuum, waiting for it. Now, six or so months later, the head is making a strange noise and a hot smell, and is not doing it's job, so I fear I'm up for another lengthy repair job. Hopeless.
The suction power is strong with the head going, but if you turn off the head then the suction is hopeless. Unfortunately you cannot use the powered spinning head on any type of hard floors, and have to change the head to a standard one - so you lose all the suction. If you try to use it on a hard floor it just flicks all the items you're trying to vacuum back up at your ankles. The same thing happens even on carpet if the mess is any larger than sand or dust, if for example you try to vacuum dry rice bubbles or rice or things of that size or larger, they get flung back at you.
The power head is heavy and doesn't move around well, so you constantly have to lift it up and plonk it down directly on top of what you want to suck up.
I vacuum most days and not one of those days goes by that I don't fully regret ever buying it. Gutted.
Edited to ad: I took it back for the second repair to the head, but apparently I've sucked something up that has cracked the whole unit and so it isn't covered under warranty. If I want them to quote me for fixing it, I have to pay $50 upfront for them to send it away to get the quote. I asked what would have been sucked up to crack the whole thing completely and was told "it could be anything, like a bobby pin, or a small piece of lego...". Unbelievable, a $750 vacuum that turns into landfill if you suck up a small piece of lego.
Update:
Here is the report from the second time I had to return the powerhead, 16 months after purchase -
"- a piece of the base of the power head is protruding from the lower section, showing the edge had been damaged underneath the bump stripping.
- the non-belt end of the agitator retainer is also damaged. This has caused the agitator to free float inside the housing, creating friction that has melted the top and bottom guide for the agitator.
- the belt has been slipping which has caused the shaft of the motor to start to turn blue.
- These issues would have made a lot of noise, however evidence shows that despite the noise the vacuum was continued to be used.
Unfortunately, the type and extent of damage found on your powerhead is not covered under warranty conditions, as it is not a result of manufacturing faults. Additionally, the type and extent of damage cannot be repaired, so you will need a replacement powerhead."
A new powerhead is $220. And for the record, NOPE - it never made "a lot of noise", not other than the noise it made since day one.
Rubbish bin it is.
Price, breaks down, doesn't do it's job, plastic cracks, heavy, noisy, have to change the head between floors.
THe power head weighs 2 1/2 kg alone, worst ever !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! – So disappointed in this paid $650 and it doesn't live up to it's price, the power head alone weighs 2 1/2 kg to push around which also doesn't work well on tiles or floor boards as it flick dirt back at you so you have to change to the head for hard floor which is a pain, the power head is also very hard to manoeuvre so I would have to lift it up… Read more
and place it where I wanted dirt sucked up.
Also the cord that runs from the rod to the vacuum cleaner gets tangled so you have to unwind the rod or it was hard to pull around, and now after only 3 months the stuck power head has stopped working. The powerhead sucked up dirty really well Very heavy 2 1/2kg powerhead, hard to manoeuvre, broke after only 3 months
Disappointing design – This is the most expensive vacuum we have ever purchased. We expected it to last for many years into our retirement. Good point. The power head did a great job in cleaning out the carpet. Bad points. 1 The machine is supposed to glide smoothly behind the operator. The machine catches on door frames and furniture where the hose joins the… Read more
casing, and also on the rim of the wheels. These should be faired off.
2 The extendable suction tube catch does not work any more so is taped up to prevent it collapsing.
3 There is a small plastic catch that holds the hose to the vacume body. The hook that does the work has lightening holes in the side to make it even weaker. Mine has snapped off so the hose does not stay connected unless the vacuum suction is turned on. I am in the process of Arolditing it together.
This machine soon become disappointing to us as I find it is weak and poorly designed. The power head works well at lifting dust out of the carpet fibers.
Nah – Like most cleaners it seemed impressive at first and was sold at a top price. I had trouble with it twice dying. Supposedly just overheating or filter. After 2.5 years and cleaning the filters, the motor burnt out after light use. According to Godfreys the filters should be cleaned after each use to prevent this?? The NZ warranty according to… Read more
Hoover is 2 years not 3.
It seems to rely on the power of the head but is not good for cleaning near edges and easily blocks.
Godfreys sell a few brands and seem to up sell on the basis of "technology" to mainly uninformed consumers. I would strongly advise checking things out from consumer reports Initially seemed powerful Heavy head easily blocked and query cleaning filters that often to stop burnout
Great .... When it's working – We have a dog (retriever) that sheds a huge amount of hair. The power head on the Hoover handles it, no problems - not the slightest amount of hair is caught. Prior to the Hoover I had a Miele "Dog & Cat" and had to stop using the power head as it became constantly jammed. I am very happy with the Hoover, with one exception. We have had it 18… Read more
months and twice it has been back to "the factory" for fixing and three other occasions been back to the shop for fixing - problems with cutting in/out due to bad connections on the power head. As this is an item I need constantly, having it away for repair for over a week (twice) is just not good enough. Also having to cart it back & forth to the shop (with very poor parking access) is an ongoing irritant. Excellent cleaning, particularly dog hair No reliability
Amazing cleaning ability, fair design and build quality, reasonable maneouverability – I think this vacuum is difficult to review. It definitely has the best cleaning power - especially with the power head (dog, kids and outdoor carpeted room that is constantly filled with sand).. Our vacuum cops a weekly hammering! And it shows.. A plastic body and clips means I have to be extra careful (I previously broke the clips on almost all… Read more
the parts on the previous Core Plus model). And the powerhead is heavy and not the easiest to manuoever.. But for me the extra arm work-out is totally worth it for the clean and not having to go over and over bits of carpet or tiles.. I empty the canister regularly and probably clean the filters monthly and the suction has stayed spot on thru a renovation (where it got used on an industrial basis) and all our messes.. Personally I think the actual cleaning ability is utmost.. but I am fit and capable to move around a fairly big and clumsy vacuum that I treat as nicely as I can to prolong its plasticky lifespan! Brilliant carpet cleaning ability Cheapish plastic clips, powerhead is a bit awkward and heavy (but it needs to be to clean so well!)
Hoover possibily the worst vacuum ever!!! 3 main faults – I have purchased your 7010ph vacuum. I would have to say this has to be the worst vacuum i have purchased ever!!!! Do you realize how many design faults!!! You have on this model??? I have counted 3 faults that i would consider the worst faults you could have!!!! 1st fault - heavy pieces of any material get stuck in the heart of the vacuum… Read more
which makes it impossible to pick up. To remove this you must tilt vacuum to appropriate side and shake to remove blockages due to the lack of power and design!!
2nd fault - you get blockages in the container with rubbish that makes its way to the filter. I thought the filter was meant to filter things, not allow them to pass through.
3rd fault - motor is not powerful enough! Without the use of the vacuum head!
I would just like to know what you will do about these design faults!!! Or is this something i have to deal with??? great for pet hair thats it! Apart from all the major things that you want a vacuum to do and Forget about picking up stones that fall off your shoes!!!!!!!!!!@!!!
Very average – Loved it to start with. BUT found it gets blocked very easy and the block is not always easy to find. It is very messy to empty. the cord has started to retract by itself while in use and now won't even turn on unless it feels like it. Very disappointed as it is only 12 months old and for the money just not worth it. Blocks all the time.
Disappointed – I've had this cleaner now for two months and I miss my old Miele machine. Was really looking forward to this new machine, but some limitations came apparent quickly: it's not very mobile, the cord gets stuck under furniture and it does not roll up completely, cleaning out the dust container is messy and I found the sucking power of the normal head… Read more
not very impressive. The power brush is very efficient, but not advisable for hand knotted carpets and it's great to give the mattress a clean
