Hoover ProSteam

Good but spare parts a problem – My Hoover ProSteam worked well until the heating element failed. Like a lot of others on this site I found that parts particularly replacement elements are not available, so I have a perfectly good and working unit with a non working heating element. If anyone is after good spare parts from the rest of the mop, please send an email to peterhop@bigpond.com. Show details
Lack of Spare Parts – My little hoover did not work hard but the start button malfunctioned so I was unable to use it. I tried to get a replacement switch to no avail. The hoover web site was not helpful, nor was their staff when I rang. Eventually I got a friend who is an electrician to have a look and was advised the switch had rusted out. Not vey good for a less than cheap brand that used to have an excellent name Cant access spare parts
Beware 12 month life expectancy – I first bought this just over 2 years ago, and at the 10 month mark I started having a few problems with the switch, fortunately by 11 months it completely stopped working. Took back to Godfreys and without any trouble received another one with a warning that if this went wrong it wouldn't be replaced as the 12 month warranty would be over. … Read more
Should have suspected some problems with it as they didn't look or check obviously had received quite a few complaints with the switch.
It is now 12 months since I received that one and to our surprise the plastic handle sheered off in my husband's hand on Christmas Eve, not to worry have time to replace it, can still use it, so this week during the Christmas rush we went to use it again, this time the base sheered off, both areas completely shattered (Just to make sure we couldn't use it)
You can see why we believe it is built to last 12 months! it did clean the floor ok, although no better than a cheaper product I had earlier. First, switch not built to last, second, handle plastic also not built to last!
Swapped it 8 times – I got this steam mop for "free" when I bought a vacuum cleaner although it was definitely built into the price. It worked just fine for about 4 goes and then the power switch stopped working and I could no longer turn it on. I took it back and they exchanged this for me. Over the course of two years, the same problem happened 8 times in total and… Read more
I only used the mop once every 3-4 weeks. Everytime, Godfrey's swapped it for a new one but wouldn't let me upgrade to a another model as I had got it for three. Eventually, the two year warantee ran out so when it broke again, I bought a $39 home hero which is actually better as the head is less clunky, it soaks the floor less and it emits more steam. 2 year warantee allowed me to swap it for new 8 times and I never had to buy new mop pads Stops working after about 4 goes.
I love my steam mop – I love my steam mop. I have a small house with wooden floor boards and this mop does everything i want and expect of it. I can get the floor done in 1 tank. reliable, efficient, light and quiet Show reply
Did NOT meet my expectation! – Its my first time using a steam mop. Not sure if all steam mops has limited function like this one? I don’t think I’ll look at any steam mop again? At the moment, I can only said that 'this' steam mop break up stubborn stain and kill bacteria(?), it did not ‘clean’ my floor as expected. For some reason, my floor grouts got more dirty as I went… Read more
through with the steam mop but the mop pad remain fairly clean. I can only assumed that the dirt was simply been moved from one area to another and pad kept clean by the ongoing steam. So, to prove to myself, I actually tried to remove/rinse the floor with a normal mop and as expected, my bucket of water did get very dirty( In case, you are wondering, my traditional mop’s pad is a fairly new so its quite a clean one). Hoover Prosteam Steam Mop is quite a large one and it covers all area quickly. It takes about 3-4mins to get steam ready. It has 700ml water capacity which allow longer using before needling to refill. Handle easy for gripping My floor needed time to get dry and also I thought a steam mop will help me maintain my grouts easier. Instead it gotten more dirty than ever and has to redo my floor all over again with my 'normal' mopping to get my grouts cleaned again. Not sure if this has to do with the steam pressure??
