For a 10 year old device, this speedy, efficient, reliable, multi-function office printer is FANTASTIC! – I purchased this second hand recently (2022) and found it to be absolutely fantatstic. So I beg to differ with others perhaps not as computer literate as myself. You can really see the huge difference of this "Office" Multi-Function printer compared with the much cheaper "home" print/scan/copy units. Here are the pluses 1. Super fast, high quality printing - very impressive for an inkjet printer, Draft mode is quite sufficient and uses minimal ink. 2. Super cheap, individual colour ink cartridges with very high page yield. Especially in draft mode. We are talking well over 500 pages and up to 1,000 pages per ink cartridge...WOW! The ink cartridges are also still readily available in 2022. 3, Super responsive even in "sleep" mode. 4. Convenient auto document feeder (ADF) makes it great for multi page scanning or copying. 5. Built-in duplexing unit (optional) for double sided printing. But reduces size of printed page in duplex mode to allow for gripping and re-feeding the printed first side. 6. I have the wireless model which works great as a wireless printer. In fact much better than recent Canon MG series so-called wireless printers. You just cant connect directly from a mobile phone as some newer wireless printers can do. 7. Its not too complicated to remove the scanning glass from this printer so it can be properly cleaned on both sides. Most scanners do get a misty film build up on the under-side of the scanning glass after a few years. Its also easy to remove and disassemble the auto document feeder for ocassional cleaning and maintenance. 8. Setup in Windows 10 is a breeze as Windows automatically detects the printer and loads the relevent print and scanning drivers. 9. As with any multi-function printer its so convenient using the one device for printing, scanning and copying. It also sends faxes but who does that these days? Now for the negatives. 1. Slightly bulkier and heavier printer than common home Canon and HP multi-function inkjet printers 2. Can be quite noisy, and takes a while to get ready, especially when preparing to print the first page of the day. 3. I suspect a bit of ink wastage each time its turned on as it does its (rather long) start-up routine. Not as fast as modern day inkjet printers. So best to leave it in 'Sleep" mode if you are using it every day or two. 3. HP dont provide updated or compatible software and drivers for Windows 10. (only for Win 7 which dont work with Win 10). Hence you must rely on the Microsoft provided Windows 10 drivers and also third party scanning software which unfortunately is not optimised for this scanner. I found Paperscan Free works fine though after some adjustments to the brightness and contrast settings. But in the end this printer does in fact work fine with Windows 10.

Good – I bought this 4 in 1 from Costco for $220 and I think that its a reasonable price for the unit. Prior to this I had a Lexmark 6500. With the ink for this printer though I imagine that it might dry up if the unit is not used every once in a few weeks so bare that in mind when you are buying the unit. Also, ink could be on the pricey side. Its a compact unit

Double sided printing without having to manually reload the pages

Having the option to insert media into the unit to copy photos directly There are a lot of problems with this printer working on Windows 7

I purchased the Hp 6500 officejet all in one printer 14 months ago and have had nothing but trouble with it. I am now dumping it in the bin. Throughout its 14 month life I have had to uninstall it and reinstall it 10 times and despite considerable well meaning help from HP's support line, the machine refuses to function with anything resembling continuity or reliability. Never again HP.

This product should not be used with laptop comuters – This printer will malfunction when you close the lid on your laptop as there is an issue with connectivity when your computer reopens. this can be fixed by interrupting the power supply to the printer turning it on again and it will print your documents.... WOW WHY? why would you buy this if you have to go through this procedure every time you want to print a document after closing the lid on your laptop.

oh yes also the printer is quite waste full when replacing cartridges as you must print a test page then scan it so the printer can calibrate its new cartridge, or so we are told. it has no ability to calibrate its cartridges as there is no hardware to do so another way to waste your time and paper.

This printer also needs its power button to be pushed twice to turn it on the first one gives you a blank screen with a light and the second actually turns it on. once it is on it takes two whole minutes to warm up and do self tests.

there is no product support for Ubuntu but that is ok. but if you have windows or mac it will update one day a week and give you warnings every other day.

two stars overrates this printer but I cannot give it one and a quarter for its looks. It's pretty to look at and I like bright flashing lights. Not reliable, I own one :(

Never worked as a $250 printer should – I purchased this because it does double sided printing and I am trying to waste as little paper as possible for my Uni assignments. If I could go back and buy a printer that worked even if it did one sided I would. I waste as much paper jamming as I would printing one sided. The scanner feature hardley ever worked on my old computer and now it doesn't work at all on my new one. A message comes up that says something about 'No Scan Options' everytime I try which is a pain.

The power cord has packed it in before and thankfully HP sent a new one but it was a huge inconvenience

As a uni student there is no way I could afford to replace this and there is no way that I would recommend this horrible thing. Sooooo not worth the price!!! The print is reasonable good quality and although it's big it's compact. But that's about all The scanner doesn't work, it jams, it smears ink over my printing and it goes through ink like you wouldn't believe (which isn't cheap either)
