Poor quality, crap laptop – Very poor quality and build, made to break. Hp support is not helpful. I don't like this computer. Dosn't look nice either. Windows is very slow on it and it gets very noisy and hot for such a small computer (about 15 inches) is a good crash computer, maybe even for a kid or a store. Dont recommend as main computer, Go for something like dell, maybe even apple if you can afford it

good – I have been using my HP for over 5 years now, every day for roughly 12 hours (I am a translator), and its still going and working. I had to replace the keyboard, as the backspace did not not work anymore. What is really annoying is the bearing of the cooling fan. It makes really noisy rattling sound and one would need a special engineering training to replace the fan.

Never again – So many issues while under warranty and so many issues outside of warranty. Persistent overheating to the point of burning and ruining two laptop mats. Charger and ac adapter died just outside of warranty. Customer service shocking. I've had it less than three years. Lost everything when it cooked itself. Seriously all I do on the thing is word… Read more

processing because I'm frightened i will burn my house down if I play a game. If I could get my money back I would. A complete waste of $2000. Large screen Faulty product

good & bad – I am happy with it from a computing perspective, but sometimes it slows way down without obvious reason - I agree that it gets very hot and that may be the reason. (I'm actually on site looking for reviews of cooling pads) Also, I had a lot of trouble with keys breaking; the whole keypad was replaced under warranty because of broken keys, and now… Read more

I have again got 3 broken keys but it'd out of warrany. I use it several hours everyday, but I am not rough with it. I try to use an external keyboard whenever feasible. Pretty pathetic seeing how much I paid for it.

keyboard, heat.

Very good laptop – I had purchased this laptop in 2009. Very happy with it. Very fast, never lags, but after three years, the battery needs replacing. Also this laptop gets very hot while using it. It is also very noisy, as the fan tries to cool it down. Considering I pad almost $2000, I think a MacBook may have been better, but since I bought it, they have designed… Read more ·  1

one that is more comparable to the apple, so will be the one I buy next. Fast, reliable compared to a desktop Expensive, battery needs replacing

Excellent – This machine is fantastic The speed and the awsomeness that you come to expect from HP is back but even better in the DV7 series. The build quality again from HP is strong and sturdy but still they manage to make them stylish....the screen however has gone backwards in design, they use that single bar, which is flimsy for the wiring...the design… Read more

on the DV9000 range was better...but picture, collour quality is best yet on the HD screen...

Touch buttons for CD, Quickplay and volume are a great novelty and the built in webcam offers quality pics and video day or night. also the mics work well....

The wireless range in the DV7 has been largely increased.... Stylish

Fast

Sleek

LightWeight

Touch Buttons Flimsy Screen

Good – HP have designed an excellent value entertainment laptop. My DV7 plays most new games on medium to high settings and it isn't a highly specced version. It is great to use (hasn't frozen or faulted once) and although it may have a few problems, it still is a great laptop. If you are a neat freak, be prepared to clean the system at least once a… Read more

week. Overall it is a great machine and I would have no hesitation buying another DV7 in the future. Large screen, numpad, easy to type on, loud crisp Altec Lansing speakers, great looks and specifications. Whole laptop requires constant cleaning as it picks up every bit of dust. HP light on the cover is too bright to keep turned on at night while sleeping. Touch buttons can become stuck making laptop click for a while.

best laptop i've ever had – i recently received my new hp laptop and opened it with some trepidation. everything ive been told about hp caused me concern but i could not go past the price for the computing power i was being offered. $899 for an intel core i7 6gb ram, 1tb memory, 17 inch sceen more than enough power to satisfy me. i have since found the computer to be… Read more

perfect for all of my computing needs which includes web browsing, word processing, online movies and cd viewing. the sound coming from the BEATS Audio with Triple Bass Reflex Subwoofer is fantastic. far better than my lennovo and my toshiba which are far more expensive machines.

the only down side would be the trackpad is not as sensitive as i would like and the track pad buttons are part of the pad which means when you try to left or right click you some times move the cursor from the spot you are aiming. i'm sure i will get used to this and if not it nothing a mouse can't fix.

given i spent half the money on more than twice the computing power compared to my toshiba and my lennovo i believe i can safely say the hp pavilion dv7 is the best laptop ive ever had. inexpensive, fast, looks great takes a while to get used to the track pad

Good – Happy I purchased this product in January 2010, have had no problems with it whatsover, great performance, attractive machine with all essential functionality including blu-ray player Very stylish, attractive machine which is reliable and quick. Great display screen with bright vivid colours in high definition. Like the touch controls. The screen is flimsy. Factory In built TV card would have been nice

Excellent – consideraing the size of the laptop it is quite light. I manage to use it to access the internet watch hours of movie and still the power reamin high which indicated that this has a very good battery. According to the intel website the intel duo core T series processor has very good speed and power saving. (have a look at their comparison table).… Read more

Most of the Dv7 series seams to have the T9xxx processors so it not suprisingly this laptop can operate for so long without losing speed and power. The screen is very bright and clear. The board size is large and is comparable to a normal size keyboard, which does help those to prevent wrist pain. For people with large fingers the keyboard is not such a good idea as you can easily slip off the key you are using onto another key. but this can be avaoid with a silicon keybaord protector. This comes with a nice little remote control that makes watching movies easier and allows you to rewind, forward, change volume and turn off the laptop without having to get off your seat or bed. unfortuately getting your hands on a dv7 series is not so easy but if you can this is one of the best laptops. dv7-1211tx: screen size, keyboard size, speaker, processor speed, low energy consumption size, smoothness of keyboard

Terrible – I dont treat it badly, but it has broken - the screen coming off the base more than 5 times, the it guy said that there was a bolt missing inside and all that was holding it together was a tiny little screw on the outside. it overhearts, even when i have it on a table or propped up, even on icepacks! as well as there being internal problems and at… Read more

one point not even going past the blackscreen unless in safe mode. have had to reimage it 4 times! personally, if i had to do it again, would not even bother, better of getting a mac. Good screen quality Overheats to the point of turning itself off, nothing I could do could help it, has broken internally and externally
