HTC Wildfire (2011)

Not Very usable – I was trying to download some apps (info. games) and nearly NONE are downloadable! Very slow and sometimes freezes and shuts down for no reason!
HTC is great for Tasmania – Whilst travelling in Tasmania we found the terrain challenging for mobile reception. So we bought one of these at Burnie. I had the first Google phone built by HTC but Telstra refused to let it onto the lower frequencies. This one gave us reception in the last corner of valleys. Wherever we camped we were many times the only ones who had internet… Read more
and mad a hotspot for up to 5 notebooks to use. Sadly android has been upgraded to do too many things like a AHD child it just stresses to now dated 800MHz processor over the limit making it slow to respond. This impacts most on the camera that now takes ages to make a shot. After 3 batteries and many drops this phone is like a cat with 9 lives. Just can't kill it! It still does outdo my newer $1000 super phone when it comes to dropped calls. Well made in Taiwan built properly and leaves most Chinese lower quality for dead. Pity the processor is now too slow.
So disappointed with the HTC Wildfire S – I purchased this phone for my mothers birthday who had never owned a smartphone or Internet before, after reading such great reviews on how easy/user friendly they are and as a cheaper phone to my iPhone I am so disappointed on how hard it is to use/navagate to change settings etc I wouldn't recommend it at all to anyone Glad I didn't purchase… Read more
on contract, so can get rid of it sooner
I love my iPhone now even more thanks Apple Nice size & great cheap extras/covers that u can purchase (better than the phone itself) Not user friendly at all
Not so bad, but to slow – When I bought this phone, it was really great experience to have mobile with android platform. As time has passed it's not so good anymore. Processor is to slow, and there is no enough memory. If I install too many programs, it shows me message that there is not any more place in memory. I need better phone that this. Design is not bad Too slow, and not enough memory
Worst phone ever – When I first purchased the phone the first three months were trouble free. After that it became a nightmare. The screen constantly freezes not allowing me to answer or make calls, will no longer allow me to upload any photos or posts onto social networking sites, the battery is now cactus and only last long enough for an approx 5 min phone call… Read more
before needing to be charged.
Extremely hard to type on and overall the biggest piece of rubbish ever. Unfortunatley I am stuck with it until the contract expires. Telstra have been useless. Don't waste your money on this cheap pathetic phone.. spend the money and purchase an Iphone or Galaxy....
Very dissapointed – Have this phone for two years and had to come back to my old phone instead of this one. It responds very slowly to your commands. Screen frequently jumps from vertical to horizontal position due to small screen so some apps can use only vertical position while others only horizontal and it is very annoying. Can not load a lot of apps including… Read more
Mozilla Firefox, my favorite browser. I'd better had bought a full screen mobile instead of this phone.
It takes me at least 5 sec to make a phone call to someone in my phonebook.
Phone memory got full very quickly, I have to clean it almost every day.
I put terrible rate because I just can not use this phone any more. One little mistake in pressing the buttons and my phone rings to someone I don't want to. Yes, it was cheap but I'd better had bought something more expensive but more reliable. Looking for a new phone now, not HTC at this time.
Small screen size is the worst disadvantage of this phone
good mobile – its a good mobile for its price tag but can be slow at times the screen is not great its a compact size it can take a while for large apps to load because of the slow processor the battery life is great compared to other mobiles over all its a good first mobile. strong built, good battery, cheap price, good warranty screen size, bad sensitivity, screen resolution
Worst mobile I have ever owned – Heaps of Android Apps will not load, I have often wanted to load an advertised app but when trying to download I am told my mobile is not suitable. Very slow when opening the apps you have, battery has to be re-charged after at least 8 hours. Biggest waste of money I have ever spent & I am stuck with it. size is good & I like the metal casing
Superb – Got this phone around 3 months ago. Can't live without it! What totally captivates and catches my attention to this phone is the compact, metallic and solid design! The battery is pretty decent with 3G open all the time. But i would like it to have a larger battery capacity. What really irritates me is the low resolution and the superb slow… Read more
528mHz processor.
Come on, at least it will have to reach 600mhz?
However, HTC Sense which is bundled with this phone really rocks!
So many social networking features!
However, the ringing phone screen is really laggy.
The media player is pretty stylish and nice!
The optical trackball is a added bonus!
One of the major negative factors is the slow messaging application!
Great phone in overall! Very cheap, Great design, Social networking features, trackball. Slow processor, Slow messaging, sluggish, small size.
Awesome – The HTC wildfire is a great phone u need to get one.if u already have one then u would already know that it is a great phone.my reasons are its afordibale it has a great camera I have dropped it a million times it does not have one single crack in it and it is working fine and there is so many more reasons why!if u don't have one then I would decently get one. I liked so many things it was affordable but still really good
Tiny touch screen makes for difficult typing – Telstra HTC Wildfire with Android 2.2.1 Pros: -Cheap -Small and compact -Hard to break -Has decent internet browser and other apps similar to bigger smart phones, can personalise and delete unecessary apps -Can easily mount as disk drive without syncing -Has Wifi Hotspot so you can use its 3g data on Laptop or PC- Without this it would be… Read more
really lacking as it is absolutely painful to try and type on it
-Is compatable with Myphone explorer essential for SMS for reason stated above
Cons:
-Screen is way too small for touch screen typing
- SMS Autocomplete is frustrating and wont turn off
-Often freezes when performing simple tasks
-Syncs my gmail contacts this is irreversible, unecessary and annoying I cant send emails on the thing only read them
-Battery life is short so its constantly on recharge
- Need to enable USB debugging in developer tools to use it with your computer in any useful way
-HTC Sync software is useless
-Need to add new callers to contacts before you can click to sms them ie no option to sms recent callers
-Slide to answer function often doesnt work especially if the phone is in your pocket it will decline the call as you pull it out
-No hotlink to Telstra 101 messagebank for missed calls or to the callers number ie you have to write the number down and then enter it in the phone and you have to manually enter 101 everytime
I cannot live without my awesome HTC mobile – This year I had a telstra phone that lasted me a few months and was playing up so much I changed to a HTC wildfire. Ever since I have been extremely happy as it has the capabilities of a iphone but with a much smaller price tag!!!! Also it hasn't ever played up on me at all.... my brother has a brand new iphone and it is playing up all the time. … Read more
I like the fact not everyone I see has a HTC, it makes me more of a individual (unlike a iphone user), and I have been able to buy plenty of cool covers for it also that makes it so much more fun for me too!!
Awesome gadget, love getting my emails through my phone straight away also oh so very handy!!!
Love the HTC will never say a bad word about it, my daughter threw it over the kitchen gate one day also and i turned it back on and no dramas with it. great reliable phone with all the bells and whistles. Very budget friendly a phone that will last me a long time too. Great battery time too. Reliable, inexpensive lovely extras also!!!
One of the better phones I've owned – I really like the speed this phone has. It doesn't compare to the higher end smart phones, but for it's price it's definitely a phone I would recommend to my friends. The only problem I've had with this phone is the internal memory. It doesn't have very much so I often times have to clear data, cache, or uninstall programs that won't transfer to… Read more · 1
the SD card. If it had a larger internal memory, I'd definitely give this phone a 5 star rating. I love the 5MP camera, the chat style texting, and its quicker than my old Huawei Ascend because it can play any game I download, my old phone wouldn't play Angry Birds without lagging really bad. The graphics on this phone are always very smooth, and I enjoy it a lot. Decent battery, smooth graphics, 5MP camera low internal memory storage.

Useless – The most annoying phone I have ever owned. Sometimes I can't answer when it rings. Sometimes it doesn't ring at all. Sometime it rings people on a wime all by it's self. It's really strong as it's been thrown twice out of frustration, without breaking. Can't sync with a computer unless with vista or greater. Refuses to let me set up a gmail account. Not happy. It fits in my pocket It's a unreliable & frustrating
Maybe the old phone was better?? – I do like my new HTC Wildfire but I feel I dont need all these gadgets. OOh maybe I'm showing my age. It is fairly simple to use though and I feel I will get more used to it as time goes on. Easy to use. Have started to try new phone apps. Too many things to make mistakes with.
No problems whatsoever – Had my Wildfire for about 9 months, haven't had any problems with it, easy to use once you get used to it, only issue was price drop after i bought it but that's all Reliable, quick, does everything i want it too Price drop after i purchased it, camera not so speccy
It's OK – Bought this after my trusty Motorola Razr died. Thought I'd go with a smartphone for the experience, also wanted to buy a phone outright, as I was already on a plan. Took a while to wake up to what it can be used for, now use it constantly, especially for GPS assisted navigating. Since I'm in Tassie, I find Telstra's BYO Freedom plan ideal for… Read more · 1
my requirements.
Of course, the price dropped by $100 a week after I purchased it. :-( Lots of free apps & helpful forums on the net. Poor battery life when GPS & mobile internet used. Only turn these features on when required, to conserve battery life.
HTC Wildfire – HTC wildfire is an entry level Android smart phone. It comes with many applications pre loaded.I was very impressed by the sensitivity and the response of the touch screen.I paid $200 for an unlocked phone with decent camera and very impressive features--Definitely worth looking at ! Cheap full functioned phone with many apps and quite good G.P.S guidance difficult to text if you have big fingers
best phone ive ever had – This is my first ever touch screen phone, I was a bit apprehensive as im an old school kinda girl but since getting it I have never looked back and will never get anything other than a htc touchscreen again. I bought this phone from Target for $299, they have since dropped by $100 but this doesnt phase me, i would pay $299 again for it. Its a… Read more · 2
sturdy phone, easy to use, I love that it has 7 home screens so its easy for me to scroll through for my bookmarks, facebook, calender and weather, and i can change thses up at anytime. the battery life can almost disappear when browsing the net using the data, luckily for me i have wifi at home which this connects too so thats not really a problem, lately in the mornings my phone has been freezing and i almost have to 'warm it up' with the back of my hand to get it going at the pace i know its capable of.
Top phone, great value – What a great phone. I bought it 2 weeks ago for $159 at the Post Office, locked to Telstra Network. It does everything I want plus it's quite easy to use. In a regional area it has way better coverage than any past phones I've owned. I was hesitant to buy a touch screen as I work outdoors in sometimes dusty conditions. A suitable flip cover and… Read more
screen protector has kept the phone clean.
I was so impressed I went out and bought the Wife one. Cheap, easy to use. Speaker is loud so when in my chest pocket I can hear it ring whilst wearing earmuffs and operating a machine. Very simple to hook up to PC via USB cable. Unlike all past phones I've owned, the alarm does not work when it's switched off so if using it as a wake up alarm you need to keep the phone on overnight. Easy to hit the wrong buttons when typing texts but I am getting better at it
Excellent little phone – This phone has everything you get in an alternative more expensive touch screen phone like iPhone, Samsung Galaxy e.t.c. For a cheap price it will do anything for you. The touch screen keyboard takes some time to get used to, as with any new phone. The android system is the best out there, its extremely customisable and user friendly. The… Read more
resolution of the screen is the only con I would say. The size itself is okay, but the resolution could have been sharper. Reliable, good camera 5mp, thousands of apps on the app market. The screen resolution, not compatible with some apps on the market.
Decent phone – Had this phone for a while. The phone has a decent touch screen, but nothing compared to my current touch screen phone. Got slower as I put more on the phone, and it became less responsive. I do love the HTC software though, and it was very good for someone as social as I am. Overall it was a decent phone, but glad I upgraded. Cheap price, Good for social networks. Battery Life, Not very responsive.

Annoying - ended up swapping it for a Desire – At first I thought the wildfire was ok - but eventually the lag in typing and the screen freezes started getting more and more and were very annoying! When I spoke to Telstra about it they explained that its because its a small phone trying to run the same programs as a larger phone (like an iphone or desire). If not for this it would be a great… Read more
phone as it has all the capabilities of the desire and iphone just not the hardware to support it. I wouldn't recommend it. Size, free on a cap plan. Bad delays and screen freezes
Excellent – I bought this phone for $290! It does everything that the iphone was going to do for me but a fraction of the price. Very easy to use. You can download free applications. Internet is fast and user friendly. Speaker is loud. So many applications available for this phone. Really good Calendar. Accessories available for this phone at a really… Read more
good price. Ebay :=) I purchased well with this phone and would never go back. I much prefer HTC over the Apple iphones mainly for the price. Its just not worth paying $900 for in my opinion. I would highly reccommend this phone! Fantastic phone
Excellent – Overall this is a great phone. I bought it because it was half the cost of an iphone and I have not regretted it one bit. I would definitely buy the HTC again next time around. Sturdy (I'm clumsy and drop it all the time), easy to use, long battery life, all the apps you want! Nothing yet to dislike. Sometimes apps which require me to be online… Read more
"foreclose" randomly, but I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the phone, or if it is the wifi or the app itself.
Good but not outstanding – This phone does well seeing that it's not the best quality phone but it's an Android which is the most important fact. Has a great operating system and also uses minimal power when using 3G. when it's using wifi it's an absolute goner. the battery drains very quickly using wifi. so if you have plenty of 3G data use it. the lighting is a bit dark… Read more
compared to the other htc's but it's a brilliant device on the go and barely slows down or crashes. Apps are a little hard to find because of the lighting that doesn't allow the app to be used on the wildfire. reliable when in need. has google maps. cheaper than most HTC's. runs on Android battery life using wifi
Fantastic, value for money, android phone – At $200 you won't find better android phone, easy to use, quick, reliable, small unit yet decent sized screen, well done HTC! Value for money
Let down by slow processor and battery life – I bought this because it was an alternative to the Iphone however it's made me realise how good the Iphone is. Although the Android O/S is good, the phone is terribly slow to use. For instance clicking "call" sometimes is so slow that you actually touch "hang up" because you press it twice believing the first touch didn't register. The… Read more
battery usage is really poor particularly when using Latitude or Wifi. With either enabled expect no more than 24 hours between charges. Inexpensive and runs on Android Slow processor and poor battery life
Good – This is a great time for HTC to come out with its new affordable smartphone. The HTC wildfire offers lots of wonderful features at very affordable price. Of course there are a number of things that the HTC wildfire lacks such as 3D gaming and low resolution display. However, if you ask the question "Is this phone worth the money?" The answer is… Read more · 1
definitely YES. The phone has a solid built, excellent performance and also comes with 2GB internal memory which is lack on iphone4. There are plenty of features in this phone and the good thing is now you can get it on prepaid for only $250. Excellent phone Not the best display
