Full of chemicals – I use size 5 Huggies pull ups for my son and also size 5 for my daughter. They honestly smell like chemicals. I turn them inside out for a day or two to try get rid of the smell.

Terrible smell – I use stage 5 in girls nappies and stage 3 in boys nappies and both have a terrible smell as soon as you pull the nappy out of the box. Newborn and stage 2 didn't have the smell though??? I have been using Huggies for 6 yrs and it's hasn't always been like this. It's also annoying when the side tags rip off before you have even used the nappy (which doesn't happen all the time) but my issue is with the disgusting smell. Show details

New ultimate Huggies size 2 terrible – I have been using Huggies ultimate since my son was born 4 1/2 months ago. They were fantastic up until they changed their design. The Winnie the Pooh ones had a lovely soft outer cover and were not bulky around the private area. The new Dumbo ultimate size 2 design is definitely not as soft, is bulky in the private area and have had many… Read more

occasions where it has leaked wee after being on for 5 mins! The wee seems to leak out at the top at the back of the nappy on the right side leaving his side and back wet. The indicator line is not as clear and reliable also. The fit just doesn't seem right and is not soaking up the wee leaving the skin wet.

It's disappointing Huggies has changed these nappies as I now have to look for something more suitable. It makes me want to go searching for all the Winnie the poo nappies and stocking up.

I called Huggies and they are going to look into it. I am going to send them some samples of the Dumbo nappies I have.

Please Huggies go back to Winnie the Pooh, they are MUCH better!

Reliable, affordable and quality nappies – Have been using Huggies nappies since newborn size and we've now upgraded to infant size due to my baby's growth spurt. With the new design of the wider pocket, I noticed it allowed the wetness and poop to distribute evenly. For messier nappy changes, we have noticed it holds the urine and poop well (as long as the previous nappy was put on… Read more

snuggly. It will leak if the nappy was not placed snug and loose. We also tried one less nappy change during the night and for our baby, it can hold at least four hours of a wet nappy before our infant demands for a change (mind you, every child is different in the amount they urinate during the night). The wet nappy line indicators a great feature without having to completely remove clothing and disturb the baby's state (e.g sleeping, playing, etc).

We have tried the ultimate infant nappy boxes and the extra softness, breathable and aloe vera/vitamin e is an added feature however for the ultimate you only get 72 nappies. Whereas the regular box of 96, has an extra 24 nappies so more cost-effective. We also have purchased the bulk 144 box during specials held by stores so overall, just buy the larger boxes to keep it affordable. As long as we continue to apply a nappy barrier cream at every nappy change we agree there's no difference between ultimate and regular box.

Thus far, happy to continue using Huggies.

The Only Nappy where you need training on to make it the most absorbent nappy on the market – Been using Huggies along with other brands (Newborn, Ultra-dry Boys 4-8kg Infant and Ultimate Boys 4-8kg Infant). This is one of the worst nappies to put on a baby if you don't get trained on it. If you think about it, how hard is it to put on a nappy? All other brands I have encountered (except for Snugglers which suffers the same issue) is a 3… Read more

step process. 1. Put the nappy under the baby, 2 Fold over, and 3. Fold the side tabs and stick it in front. If you follow these 3 steps without the additional 4 steps, you will guarantee a leak from Huggies, even if it's the most absorbent nappy on the market.

Now if you follow the next 4 steps, Huggies will be able to handle Poonamis like no other nappies can. (including Merries, Moony, Babylove, Mamia etc).

Once you have done the 3 steps above, you need to do the following steps for Huggies nappy to actually do its job properly.

So to repeat

Step 1. Open Nappy and Place under baby (like all other nappies)

Step 2. Fold nappy to the front - if you have a boy, point member down, so he doesn't pee on himself.

Step 3. Fold the side tabs onto the front of the nappy.

Now.. the important bit for Huggies

Step 4. Turn baby to the side and pull up the back of the nappy

Step 5. Turn baby to the otherside and pull up the back of the nappy. Roll baby back on its back after. You will now notice that the nappy is very loose.

Step 6. Re-open and re-seal the side tabs properly making a tighter fit while making sure you fit the 'wings' properly for a comfy fit.

Step 7. Important step here - place a finger into the nappy where the thighs are. Make sure you pull out the inner leak guards out.

So there you have it. The fitting of the nappy should now be much better around the legs and thigh, you'll have less red marks and you'll control most poonamis.

I found most other nappies are much easier to put on. This is due to the fact most other brands are wider or bigger in the same size bracket. Therefore if you do need to change the nappy in the middle of the night, I do recommend trying another brand that doesn't need the additional steps. This is probably a negative of trying to make the nappy smaller than its competitors. However, I've now tested 12 brands and Huggies is up there with volume retention and absorption; It's also the thickest one amongst them all.

PROS -

1. Absorption is one of the quickest (if not the quickest) of all nappies

2. Volume Retention is one of the highest in the market

3. One of the best 'dry to touch' - so baby stays dry/feels dry.

CONS -

1. Thickest readily available nappy on them market - becomes a lot more bulkier when the baby has been vs other nappies.

2. Nappy size is smaller than competitors in the same size indication meaning its less forgiving if worn incorrectly.

3. Due to extra steps being 'compulsory' instead of 'optional', changing nappy in the middle of the night is a massive chore - and can wake up the baby. - Major issue.

Same instruction applies to Snugglers, and Huggies Ultimate. (trialled both)

Great! Never leak! – Love the new Huggies Infant. Love that the new wide feature. We were using Huggies Newborn Ultimate previously, and there was always leak by the baby. Once the baby is old enough to use Infact, we switched and never had a leak after that. We are not using the Ultimate version, but it is good enough!

Best nappy in the market – Have been using Huggies for my LO who is 3 months old now and couldn't find any other as good as Huggies. Its true that you need to take special care to make sure its snug, and if you do it right, its the best and baby sleeps throughout the night without any leaks specially in Huggies ultimate which is better than Ultra Dry in terms of sizing. Negative point is that they are a bit expensive.

Keeps baby sleeping for longer – I find it tricky to get huggies nappies to sit closely around the buttom without the obvious crease/fold. That was why I started using other brands however my baby is approaching 4 months and still wakes up often so I switched back to huggies at night to see if it helps my baby sleep longer by keeping him feeling dry for longer. night he slept for the longest since birth 2x4hrs!!

I find other nappies so much easier to put on so I hesitated giving it full stars but it gives me more sleep so that trumps all.

I use huggies at night, comfybots or aldi nappies for day.

These nappies smell so bad – I can't stand the smell of these nappies. The smell is so strong and visitors to the house notice it. I will never purchase these nappies again. I will however, buy the Huggies Ultimates which doesn't smell at all and I have been very happy with that product. Show details

Terrible chemical smell mickey mouse huggies nappies – Interested to see others have also smelt the terrible chemical smell. While we haven't had any burns from them I wonder how healthy they are if they smell like that? I've always bought huggies since my first son was born in 2013. Huggies limited edition nappies – The huggies limited edition nappies are absoult terrible. They are ruff like sandpaper. My son has got nappy rash from them. I have been using huggies since 2016. They should just stick to the original nappy rather than inventing a cheap nappy. Even the $25 nappy pants in the box is terrible. The old blue box and ultra dry nappy pants are still… Read more

Used to be the best, now the worst – Used huggies since the day my baby was born then they changed the design. Nappies seem like cheap quality with cheap materials. Never had leaks and then 3-4 leaks a day. Then a red rash appeared after never having nappy rash. Stop using straight away after researching other parents stories Show details

New design = dangerous and horrible quality – The new design, Minnie Mouse, dumbo etc are horrible quality. They are thin and flimsy, explode, horrible absorbency, and dangerous. They caused my baby a rash/burn that bad she had no skin left on her bottom, and my toddler a horrible rash. They also let off a horrid urine stench after very minimal usage. Disgusted with this new product. Show details

Avoid Mickey branded Huggies nappies – Since the recent change to "Mickey" branded nappies the previously very reliable Huggies are much much worse. Besides the leakage and rough feel, I have had 4 nappies explode overnight, coating the inside of my son's sleepsack with crystals. This is outright dangerous, a child could eat them! Huggies private and public response has not been acceptable to the situation.

You have changed – I swore by Huggies nappies for the first 10 months of my babies life! Recently, after causing nappy rash, constantly riding up his bottom and stinking of wee after about 15 minutes of wear, I realised they have changed more than just the "outer layer". Huggies won't admit they have changed anything else and even if they change back I will never… Read more

New nappies terrible – I have always used Huggies for my children and now my grandchild. The new Mickey Mouse nappies are too thin and leak continually. Why change when the Pooh ones were perfect. Wont be buying these again. One more customer lost due to "improvements of the product".Its very disappointing to have paid good money for no results. Sizing is all wrong. Smaller than the original nappies.

Always leaks! – I tried to use huggies for the better part of 2 months and my son always had leakages that required full changes. These leakages got worse when he started solids. I changed to the brand baby love and not one leak so far...even after huge poo explosions. Needless to say. Huggies has become highly overrated and not as good as what I hear they used to be.

Cheaper brands much better – I can't use them my son leaks all through hes cloths. I brought them payed extra thinking they would be better however babylove and cheaper brands are better suited for my son i don't need to worry with having to change his cloths in the cheaper brands. I don't recall huggies being this bad when i used to use them on my older children.
