There is no better value for money -If you can fix electrical problems and are lucky with your purch – Electrical problems will occur. The motorcycle has been incorrectly designed as far as electrics go. I am good with computer hardware diagnosing and fixing computer problems. After 1 year owning my motorcycle an electrical problem came up. Knowing nothing about motorcycles It took me almost a week to fix it working everyday. New parts $150 mechanic quote $800. I fixed it myself because i'm poor. The motorcycle performs best going medium-high speed. Atrocious at low speed. Difficult to learn on. If you buy this as a learner you will slow-drop it a few times at least.

Points to summarise:

Pro's:

-Very cheap

-cheap spare parts

-powerful

-sounds great. like a cruiser with a good muffler (better than most sportbikes)

-At the end of the day it chugs along just fine once you fix electrical problems

-LAMS approved

-Good for sport and touring riding

Cons:

-Electrical problems (@30 000kms my stator and regulator rectifier died,melted/needed changing)

-Frequent maintenance (i need to tighten my chain, change oil, adjust clutch tightness, lube chain, clean carby when my friend on a yamaha does all this 3x less often) (you learn alot which is a big pro, you learn to feel when something needs maintenance. Eg. power-loss when engine sounds/runs fine means you need to tighten your chain)

-Cheap overall construction (you dont notice as a beginner, but after riding for a year or two you will know nothing feels "tight". everything is shaking, gear changes are clunky (everything is functioning ok it just doesnt feel like a solid construction (to be expected being korean, cheap not japanese))

-Headlight is extremely dim (i almost always run with the highbeam on now). My highbeam less than half as powerful as my friends yamaha on low beam. Yeah its dangerous. I'm not sure but i doubt you can put in a more powerful headlight as the electrics are already the way they are.

-hard to fix. Online manuals are not much help when things go wrong.

Tour Australia – I rode the GT650s from Sydney to Cooktown and from Townesville to Tennant Creek and then finally to Darwin . This bike has some power. Fully loaded up with camping gear, tools etc. Still managed to get it to 199km/h which I think is the max shown on speedo. Brakes are brilliant, it corners smoothly and easily. Great learner bike. Albeit a little heavy. Brakes. V-Twin. Exhaust. Fuel economy. Power. Electrics play up a bit. Speedo failed to work eventually.

Not happy – Bought the gt650 comet back in 2011 had it for two years after a year the trouble started electrics, this problem is still ongoing and due to the bike being so unreliable have traded to a yamaha. Biggest problem with hyosung is there is no memory in the ecu with make finding faults a nightmare. The first year of owning it Electrical problems still unresolved

Simply Awsome – Ok friends, I will keep this simple. If you want a great reliable bike you can either buy the GT650S or you can pay twice as much for a Japanese motorbike that will do excatly the same thing. The GT650S is reliable, cheap to run and you don't need a fortune to afford one. Fast, reliable, cheap to run and affordable When I first bought the bike it used to turn off by itself. The computer had a problem but it was quickly fixed.
