Loving my sultan mattress – And very disappointed the Ikea has discontinued them. I purchased a sultan mattress and sultan mattress pad and found this to be an amazing combination - I do like a firm bed and this combo is splendid. I purchased this combo in 2009 and when I went back to Ikea to buy a new mattress pad (started to lose its firmness) I was disappointed to find… Read more

they are no longer selling it. I had to settle for a Tuddal mattress pad and the difference is noticeable. I would buy an other Sultan mattress just as a backup - Ikea should not discontinue a product like the Sultan mattresses and pads.

Soft & comfy – A very comfortable value for money mattress topper that improved our sleep (much better than the expensive latex topper we had previously.) Additional asset: mattress cover can be washed in a washing machine

Better than any mattress – We sleep with only this pillowtop on the floor. And it is awesome. Those who complain about smell should google memory foam... it is packaged compressed and needs time to expand, during which it release smell... My infant daughter loves it as well, and uses it as a playground during the day.

Great topper! – I'm not sure why everyone gave this such a low rating. I suppose sleep comfort is highly subjective and that may have a lot to do with it. I find the stopper economical, supportive, and extremely comfortable. There certainly are better models for higher prices, but this strikes a nice balance. The only drawback I would mention, is that if you're not used to memory foam depending on what you put on top of it, it can feel a tad warmer.

Overpriced low-quality piece of garbage – I have a too-firm mattress and have suffered from back pain for years. I thought a memory foam topper might be an economical way to improve things, so bought this. Boy was I wrong! It is hot to sleep on, produces a terrible smell, and is hard and unpleasant. It is kind of like sleeping on Silly Putty--it yields a bit when you first lie down but… Read more

then feels very firm and unyielding. Note that it is 3.1 lb/cu. ft; medium-quality memory foam is at least 4 lb/cu.ft. See [link removed] for an excellent discussion of what to look for in a mattress. Fortunately, I was able to return it for a full refund--even though Ikea says a mattress can only be exchanged, I think it depends on who you talk to when you bring it back.

Horrible smell – The comfort is 4/5 stars but the SMELL is horrible!! We've had our mattress topper for about 1 month and i have washed the cover 3 times and put the whole thing outside to air out but it STILL smells. The smell doesn't bother my husband as much as me. I'm ready to take it back to the store!

Horrible smell – It's been 4 months and I feel like I am being poisoned every time I sleep on it, which is once a week. I was hoping to use it as nursing care in the future... Not likely. How can IKEA stand behind such a product for sleeping?

Overheated! – We bought this matress topper and had to sell it at a loss because both my wife and I would wake up every night overheated. We would fall asleep easily, but after about 4 hours we were too hot. I do not recommend this topper. We bought one called Novaform from Costco and its much better. We can sleep 8 or more hours now, no problems at all! Made us overheat.

Horrible smell – I bought one of these mattress pads for around $360 (queen size) at Christmas at IKEA Richmond in Melbourne. I took it home and found that when I unsealed it from its plastic wrapper it had a horrible smell. So I left it in a spare room for a couple of months for the smell to dissipate. It is now 5 months later and I have been using the… Read more

mattress pad now for over two months. It still produces, but less so, a horrible smell. On top of that, I dont find the mattress pad all that comfortable either. As I have moved house since I bought this mattress pad, I probably wont be able to return this product. Im going to throw the thing out as I just cant stand the smell.

Back pain is unavoidable! – We spend a good $240 AUD on this mattress 'top' (I believe you are to place it on top of another mattress/mattress base) in the hope that it would relieve the back pain that I had been experiencing for over a year due to another lousy mattress. However, it is horrible. Once you are laying on it, you can't move. You sink in a little and you're… Read more

stuck. It is the firmest mattress I've ever come across. We thought the fact that it had memory foam might mean it would be more supportive of my back muscles, but instead it's like sleeping on a rock! It doesn't sink in the right places, so you're practically laying on a plank!

We tried placing it on top of a much softer mattress, hoping the soft mattress combined with this firm one might 'even out' somehow and give me a better night sleep - Big mistake. It's not a good idea to wait with these things, we thought it might soften after a while, we were wrong.

I don't know what their policy is concerning refunds (I bought the mattress about 5 months ago?) but we're considering taking it back and getting an exchange. Just hope I can find the receipt! Otherwise I'll be sleeping on the couch, it's much softer! My partner is taking the bullet and sleeping on it for now, but he's experiencing the same pain I did.

Stay away from this mattress!

expensive, too firm, cover is difficult to put back on after wash
