Kenwood Blend-X Pro BLM800WH

Happy with it – I use this blender for 2 months and I'm very satisfied. Before it I had Phillips. Kenwood is MUCH quieter and subjectively more powerful. It makes wonderful green smoothies. I happy with this blender.

Excellent – Got this for $30 part of the good guys black friday sale. Has really good adjustable functions and a seperate pulse which is handy. One drawback is I find bits get stuck on the very bottom below the seal.  Show details

So sexy – I have gone from using a NutriBullet to this! I used to have to go to my mothers house to reliably make a cake or a large amount of smoothies Truth be told I cannot be happier with this machine and it’s many functions! Terrific strong machine – I have had this machine for 10 months and love it. We make smoothies with frozen fruit, etc. The machine is very powerful and does a great job and chops everything really well and does not leave little hard bits on the bottom. glass jar; it is quite a fiddle to get the position just right to be able to screw it together. Otherwise a great and reliable machine.

OK to use, but leakage happended occasionally – I used the blender only for juicy and smoothies, in terms of that, the machine is OK. However, it's very noisy when working. Occasionally it leaks, you need to check whether everything is tightened. Blade Assembly Recall issued Aug 2015 – Be wary of second use products as there has been a blade assembly recall on models 2014 -2015 see https://www.recalls.gov.au/content/index.phtml/itemId/1075439. This is because of quality issue with one of the blades found to have been breaking up; contaminating food contents and also damaging the glass goblet. Ironically I noted that the blade in question looked rough on the edge, but i ignored it until contacted by the store seller. At this point it's been 3 weeks since I registered with Kenwood (Aust) for the replacement. So I am not impressed by the delay by the distributor - DeLonghi Aust :(

[EDIT @ Oct 6, 2015: the parcel with the replacement part, was actually at the PO the next day and was sent from the USA - a fair explanation I'd think.]

However I have rated it 5 stars based on its performance between May - Aug, 2015- when I received ph notification of the possible problem with my item. I absolutely loved it and apart from an initial difficulty screwing on the bade assembly (it's the reverse of any other screw in item) it made super smooth blended drinks including breaking down flax seed and making fine rice flour - the 2 main reasons for purchase.

I've had no leakage problems at all but comment that food does get between the seal and jug (not beyond the seal into the housing to cause damage etc. but for hygiene reasons it needs to be unscrewed for proper cleaning before storing in every instance and not to rely on the 'Cleaning Preset' as this is only intended to clean the jug sufficiently between immediate uses and also as a pre-treatment clean of the blade assembly. (To reduce hand contact I think.)

With Regards (below) to the store agreeing to restart the warranty at the replacement of the damaged second item: it is your right to have the warranty from the replacement date. An exchange is effectively a new sale date anyway and they should supply new paperwork for each new item.

A HN kitchen appliance salesperson actually told me this when I was hesitant about purchasing an updated item for a Brand that I'd previously had trouble with. I was assured that if it was faulty I would get refunded or a new warranty on replacement.. I know this also applies at Target and would think it was the norm for exchanges.

It's also your right to have a refund (up to 12 months) under Australian Statutory Law. You simply argue that the item doesn't do what it claims to do and provide evidence. I am now refusing to deal with stores that won't stand by the quality of the products they sell. I do not have the time or energy to be guinea pig, suffer the consequences or to travel to and fro with poor products.

*UPDATE*

At June 2016 this product continues to give perfect service ( with replaced blade) and is used most days f the week. I am very happy I changed from a previous 2L Tritan jug style, to this more manageable item: love its ease of cleaning; that it is glass AND I that continue to get very smooth "smoothies". I clean and tighten the jug parts EVERY use - I think this is the key.

I continue to use this blender most days for smoothies and it still makes them smooth - Kale and Beetroot is no issue at all. Rice flour and creamy fruit soft fruit ice desserts still perfect and hassle free. I love the glass jug as it shows no sign of the "sand blasting /mineral deposition effect" that i got from my previous (Non-Vitamix) Tritan Jug style Super Blender.

PRODUCT RECALL on Kenwood Blender blades will break Aug 2015 – After finding out early September 2015 their is a product recall on this blender BLM800WH, batch number 14S52 which has defective blades that will break. Plus reading these reviews I went back to store for a refund. Kenwood Blender is now discontinued. Shops should have sent this back by now.

Do not buy! – I bought this blender a week ago (July 2015). Trust all the other reviews on this site and do not buy. It will leak all of your fluids through the motor. Worth paying a bit extra and getting a good blender. I have a magimix now and it is much, much better!!!

Leaks – I've been through three of these and there's a design fault where occasionally the seal comes loose mid blend (this fault is widely reported elsewhere). This happens for me, despite tightening it before every blend, about 5% of the time. like a smoothie. Also if the drain pipe comes loose then it's game over for the motor (this happened on blender no 2).

It's a real shame, as apart from this one fault, it's a great blender.

The worst blender ever – I bought this processor in September 2014 and realised from the start that I had made a very poor decision. I hardly use this processor as it leaks more often than not. Today, I was juicing lemons and the rubber seal somehow got chewed up into the liquid. Most of the contents leaked out. This machine in my opinion is very dangerous and should be recalled.

allowing liquid to leak but then leak through the drain hole in the motor housing all over the motor. Harvey Norman sales person tried to fog me off saying I must not have tighten the jug ring but I came back with; well what is the purpose of the drain hole? So they gave be another blender. This time I made sure the jar ring was as tight as a large Australian hand fisted male could, tighter than most intended users would make it. A few weeks late another leak down and same result. The issue seems to be the nut on the bottom of the jug losses tension because of the vibrations and then it all comes apart and leaks. When I had closer look underneath I noted a drain pipe but when I poured water down the drain hole, it did not come out the drain pipe but out over the motor. So seems the drain pipe inside the motor is not hooked up or has come loose. Back to Harvey Norman for a refund but they would not be in that and only offered store credit or a replacement. I suggested before I leave the shop I have them pour water down the drain hole and if comes out of the drain I will take a replacement. They would not be in that but did offer to make number 3 a fresh purchase so I get a full 12 months warranty. So what did they know? Ok so home with number 3 blended. Made the ring on this one even tighter. 4 months and failure. This time the cutting blades, which are only screwed onto the shaft, are spinning free off the shaft. The fine thread on the shaft has failed. What a poor design for a drive shaft. No drive pin on the shaft. Back to Harvey Norman and this time asking for a full refund. Been fogged off again and only offering a replacement or store credit. Asked for the manager but not in today so have to come back. So not happy Kenwood, not happy Harvey Norman. Seems from other comments here this model is a dud. Still fighting for a full refund when someone in the store can approve such.

Update. Finally got a full refund from HN but had to fight for it. The first manager, “senior sales person??” insisted I would only get a replacement or store credit. I push the point that the blender does not do what it should, I am already on number 3, and after moving up to manager level 2, they refund me. O why don’t they just offer a refund when it’s clear they have a defective product, as others have noted here.

Expensive heap of crap – Wanted a Thermomix but got sucked into buying the Kenwood by Harvey Norman sales guy, he even did demonstration. Twice now my green smoothie has ended up through the motor, the repairer made me feel like my fault but now I know that the base unwinds whilst the machine is on. DO NOT BUY THIS BLENDER – I bought this blender in 2014 and have had nothing but trouble with it, I wish I had of read the reviews before purchasing. Twice now the jug part has come loose and emptied all the contents into the into the motor below, I thought it was my fault the first time, SO have been checking it each time to make sure the screw and seal on correctly!! Still it came loose, not happy as its not a cheap blender.

Rubbish! – Twice now the screw on seal at the bottom of the mixer has loosened resulting in my smoothie running through the motor, which has now killed the blender.......Do not buy this blender

Disappointed – Only had this blender for a couple of weeks...in that time I found that the blade screw-on part was difficult to attach and detach. Now the rubber seal has been sucked up into the blender part some how and I have to buy a new replacement machine after only several weeks usage.

Exceptional performance - as good or better than other high speed blenders – This blender is amazing. I have used it to make smoothies (including green smoothies, which is a good performance test) and soup; and it blended to velvety smooth perfection. nearly as noisy as other high speed blenders. One star off because of the glass goblet. It's not a big issue though, just that I would have preferred a Tritan plastic goblet, since I'm a little accidental, and worried about dropping/breaking glass. Having said that, the glass goblet isn't too heavy, and is very easy to clean.

I was sucked in by its good looks – Went to Harvey Norman to buy a Tefal blender, but they were all sold out. Should have ordered one in, but instead, decided to buy this Kenwood. have. It is very noisy, and shakes on the bench. It sounds cheap when it's working. Dry ingredients get thrown up its sides, so don't get mixed in. It's hard to get any thicker mixtures out from under the blades. And worst of all, you can't put the blades in the dishwasher, so you have to be so careful when cleaning so not to cut yourself. I wish I could have just bought another moulinex but they don't have them in Australia to buy anymore. The moulinex blender I had lasted 15 years and was excellent. This Kenwood will be sitting in my cupboard while I move on to buying a Thermomix now that I have seen them in action! What a waste of money.....
