credit card requirement - looks like a scam

1 out of 5, reviewed on May 25, 2017

In comments on other reviews, "Kogan Official" has said that requiring credit card information
is due to "industry regulations required to provide a phone service"

This has got to be nonsense. In the past 6 months I've bought and activated a Vodafone SIM
(bought in the shop, paid cash, they never saw my credit card), and a Lebara SIM (bought with
credit card but activated, using driver's licence as ID) in the name of partner

So what's the true story?

Brilliant!

5 out of 5, reviewed on May 23, 2017

Connected to Kogan Mobile two months ago. Everything went extremely smoothly. Just two weeks ago I realised that I forgot to redeem my start-up voucher. Instantly rang them, spoke to a very friendly person and the amount was put into my account within a few days. Really sad to see all the negative reviews. It all worked perfectly for me and form my personal point of view I'd be very happy to recommend this product (Small $16.90 prepaid).

Useless connection

1 out of 5, reviewed on May 23, 2017

I have a business phone using Kogan. Constantly getting drop outs of service. Phone doesn't ring and calls go straight to voicemail, with no notification of missed calls. There is even a delay from when someone calls to me getting a text to call 121 for message...sometimes up to a few hours.
Kogan suggested turn phone off and on again. Did nothing.
I even tested by sending myself a text on 17 May. Received it today 23 May! 6 days to receive a text! Makes me worried as to how many business calls I'm not receiving.
This is a business number and this issue needs to be fixed.

No service after churning

1 out of 5, reviewed on May 23, 2017

On Saturday I churned my service from Telstra to Kogan, since then I have not been able to make and receive any calls. I brought a voucher to recharge and got the error that it is invalid!? I selected a plan when I activated my service and provided my credit card details - one would think by doing this once the churning process is over I should have been ready to go to receive and make calls. I have contacted Kogan via their website and FB pages and I am still without service! My phone is not locked to any provider, so I know that this has not held up the change over.

EDIT: I initially submitted this review yesterday, I am happy to say that my service was rectify yesterday afternoon.

Terrible at all

1 out of 5, reviewed on May 22, 2017

Seems not only I have those problems! Kogan online system is sucks- It has been three days, I've received exactly the same customer service response - we do not receive your report, wait until tomorrow and ask personal details again and again but without any action? Also, what the heck of that reference number doing for? They gave the number, after a day told me those numbers are useless? I don't understand, if Kogan wants to provide these services then they should have capabilities to deal with problems. Otherwise, make me feel it's no worth your money and time on it.

gotta read that fine print!

1 out of 5, reviewed on May 19, 2017

pretty much, i didn't notice the fine print, left my phone without a recharge for around 2 months, and so they cut me off, no incoming calls, with no warning, made me wonder why i wasn't getting any calls or text messages anymore, unless you plan one recharging every other week, go with another provider..

beware of credit card scam

1 out of 5, reviewed on May 17, 2017

Purchased Kogan Mobile extra large plan for 4.90 first months (prepaid voucher). All looks good until I have started the activation process. In the last page, they requested to provide credit card details for verification purposes. What Kogan want to verify is not clear as I used to do port where often and never being asked to provide a credit card if I already purchased prepaid voucher. Looks like that purpose of this exercise to take your credit card details and debit when they wish. Anyway, I have entered details of 3 different credit car ds all on my name and always received an error message " Your details in credit card doesn't match of details you entered on the previous page". But details were exactly the same. However, when I check my bank account I was shocked to find out that all my credit card were debited total 7 times!!! So if you don't want unexpected cc debits and a BIG headache avoid Kogan like the plague.

Trust is restored

4 out of 5, reviewed on May 13, 2017

I recently just purchase the medium plan for 365 days, i looked at the reviews on here after purchasing and was thinking ive just been scammed aswell as my voucher code wouldn't work and just kept loading. I called up kogan help service and got my phone number, pin and the voucher code, just turned off my phone and turned it back on and The plan was set properly as promised. Not exactly sure why it wouldn't work with me doing it myself but the costumer services were able to, all is good, will see how the plan (calls, text, data) goes for the month...

hughe asked on May 12, 2017

Answer this

Thank you for getting in touch, to work through this we've sent a private message as we'll require the relevant account details.

We can't contact you in relation to a question, but as you've submitted a review as well we've been able to.

Sorry to hear of these issues and we look forward to getting it straightened out.

I have purchased a 365 day discounted Prepaid Plan from Kogan. I received the new Sim card inserted and activated the account but receive a "Mobile network not available" message when attempting to make a call. Could you please advise me what I need to do to connect to the network ?

Ingo asked on May 11, 2017

Answer this

Hi Ingo,

Thank you for your question, sorry to hear you've having some issues getting the service running.

On most phones, it will connect to a network straight away. You may need to check the settings in the device: https://help.koganmobile.com.au/hc/en-au/articles/206229188-What-are-the-APN-settings-for-Kogan-Mobile-

Otherwise, sometimes a quick reboot of the phone will get it to wake up, switching it on and off.

If you'd prefer, or if you've tried the above and it's not working, you can get in contact with our Support team on 1300 056 426 or by submitting an inquiry here: https://help.koganmobile.com.au/hc/en-au/requests/new
