Not worth your money or time. Avoid this brand – Bought quite some time ago, and it worked well for almost 3 years. We didn't use it often, probably watched about 50 movies on it over that time period. Started to get issues with it not recognising some DVDs but it would work with others, then it just outright stopped recognising any DVDs at all. Dismantled it to find the motor had blown. Very… Read more

disappointed as it is a waste and I expect these devices to work for much longer. My car CD player has been working reliably for 10 years with vibration and heat. So I'd expect a DVD player sheltered at home to last much longer than 50 uses over 3 years.

A very useful player with clunky UI – When it comes to value for money, nothing on the market beats the Laser Blu ray players. They are multi-region free which means they can play Blu ray and DVD's from anywhere in the world, regardless of any advertised region lock. All that's required to play discs from regions other than Australia is the enter a simple code in the menu which is… Read more

explained the provided user manual.

The only gripe I have with the Laser players is the ugly and clunky user interface which simply doesn't feel as refined as other big brands like Samsung or LG. The remote control also needs to pointed directly at the player for user inputs to be registered which is a nuisance. These are insignificant complaints when taking into the account the region free ability. I would highly recommend this player solely for this reason alone.

Works great for a while then problem start – I have two laser bluray players. They were awesome for the first 12 months. Now 1 rejects the disc your watching for no reason at all. The other has packed up all together the standby light is only half lit and the player totally u responsive. Searched all the troubleshooting etc out there and theres no support  Show details

Bought it yesterday- taking it back tomorrow – Yep. Caught 2 buses and a train to buy this. Got it home, worked last night for one show I watched. Tonight it won't turn on. Flashing light that won't turn off. Tried everything. By the way, remote signal interferes with tv. Had to cover up the tv sensor which was ridiculous.

Laser BD100 Plays Blu-Ray & DVDs for all Regions – The Laser BD1000 easily satisfies the need to play Blu-Ray and DVD discs from all regions. While this player is discontinued it is available. It comes branded as an all regions player and it does that out of the box for DVDs. For Blu-Ray discs for non Australian regions it is necessary to enter Set Up/Home on the controller, enter the code 8520… Read more

on the controller, and then change BD to the region required. e.g. 1 for USA.

In terms of performance and picture quality it is excellent. It allows the Blu-ray picture quality to shine through. Controls are simple and easy to use. HDMI, and video connections are at the back, There's no network connection and the controller could have better visibility on the keys. Still generic controllers are easily sourced and the operating manual is available free online.

Overall the Laser BD1000 is a reliable and simple to use player. History on forums shows that it performs well, is reliable, and has the capability to play and easily adjust for all regions.

Bit of a worry? – I bought one of these, had it only about a week. I played 2 DVD's one after the other, then it started to freeze & track. I ejected the disc to see if there was something on it but it was clean & new. Put it back in & player said "unknown disc" then I tried a variety of disc's & it said the same thing? So I turned it off. Came back a little later,… Read more

turned it on & it worked normally again… That was a few days ago. Since then it hasn't froze or tracked, but I've found that I can only play one disc. When I change the disc it says "unknown disc" Have to turn it off for a while & then it works normally again? What a pain… like it's getting hot or something? after 1 movie? but it's sitting on a tiled floor under the TV stand with heaps of ventilation, all my other components are in the TV cabinet & they don't play up? I bought it because its multi region & plays DVD & Blu-ray etc, but Im worried that they're a bit of a dud???

Didn't work. Had to return it – This was exactly what I needed... a bluray which played avi/mp4 etc off DVD and USB, and had component output. Unfortunately, it was a disaster. The setup menu didn't display at all. I had to put a bought DVD in to know it was workingl. It made horrible noises but did eventually start playing the DVD (didn't go to the menu). But then it wouldn't… Read more

stop or eject. Had to disconnect/reconnect power to retrieve my disc. Once again it made nasty gurgling/scratching noises on the way out. It didn't recognize any DVD with .avi/.mp4 at all. It played the sound but no picture on my burnt wedding DVD.

Returned it to BigW and got my money back. Nothing. Everything... doesn't work.

Also plays DVD-Audio and SACD including SACD-R – Not only does this machine represent great value because it is DVD region free out of the box and the Blu-ray region is changeable through the menu, it also plays high resolution DVD-Audio and SACD (including home made SACD-R backups) even though this is not mentioned in the specifications - it's only mentioned in the Troubleshooting section! … Read more ·  3

Surprised it isn't marketed as a Universal player! Amazing additional funtionality Just that they don't market the additional fucntionality

Regional coding – I am unable to set manually the region C for china after following the instruction guide It will set up for A and B only, it is a first class machine, it plays everything you would wish it to, but alas it fell down on the multi regional coding by one step. This maybe a simple case of some setting never the less I expected it to work out of the… Read more

Laser Blu-ray Outstanding product – I have for some time been wanting to purchase a region free blu-ray player, most of which were somewhat on the expensive side & had an after market modification to make it region free thereby possibly voiding the factory warranty. The Laser BD 1000 however is different in that it is region free straight from the manufacturer, it has the… Read more
