Cheap & Nasty – This Lexen hand juicer utilises a tried and trusted cold pressing mechanism, but is let down by being nearly all plastic of varying quality. Plastic components are simply not mechanically strong enough to deal with the stresses applied when processing dense vegetables such as carrots or beets—even when they're diced to a small size. Softer fruits such as apples produce very little juice, as they lack sufficient fibre in order to be compressed adequately. And forget watermelon, cantaloupe or bananas.
The entire juicer body, handle, and mount flex disconcertingly when the handle is turned. The splined drive shaft, where the handle fits on to, is also plastic and distorts under load. Far too much residual pulp is diverted to the collection cup, and frequently blocks the filter screen which then annoyingly needs cleaning. Additionally, one can't rely on the suction cup base—even on a smooth laminate bench top. It's imperative that the included clamp is used, otherwise you can count on a kitchen floor covered in sticky juice!
I acknowledge that at $88 the performance and construction of the Lexen juicer won't match electric units costing ten times as much, but the device should at least work similarly to its advertised claims—but it doesn't. It's a very light weight unit, both in form and function, but as a family-type juicer intended for daily use it fails dismally.
Overall, this Lexen juicer was a very disappointing purchase, and there's NO way I could recommend it to any potential purchaser looking for a well constructed and purpose-designed manual juicer. Mine was dumped at the rubbish tip yesterday. Good riddance.
Thank you for your response, although it reads more like an advertising screed, rather than any attempt to answer my individual complaints. I note that you repeatedly talk about its abilities processing leafy greens, but fail to mention more dense vegetables such as carrots and celery, or fruits such as apples and pineapple—although these are suggested in your advertising.
I also note that the juicer can now be purchased on-line for as little as $49 [www.vitality4life.com.au/juicer-lexen-manual-juicer-demo/] in comparison with the $88 I paid in mid-2016. To me this suggests that the earlier pricing of the juicer has been almost halved because of a longer-term lack of evidence supporting its claimed efficiency. This so-called juicer should be marketed as nothing more than a wheat-grass juice extractor, but for any other fruits and vegetables it fails dismally to satisfy the expectations of the average purchaser.
As I discarded the juicer, there's really not much point in contacting your customer support team as I have no longer have any proof of purchase documentation.
My opinion of the juicer stands unchanged—do NOT purchase if you're looking for a competent juicer, as this device will sorely disappoint.
Great Value for Money – What a great little gadget for making wheatgrass juice so quick & easily without consuming power. At less than $50 from Vitality 4 Life via ebay, delivered, it's a must have! small, convenient, easy to use & clean. Uses no power. Nothing if I don't give it a hard time & keep using it for just wheatgrass juice..
