LG 56DC1D

Excellent product – Bought this unit, late in 2006, from Harvey Norman. It is only this week that I have had to replace or repair any part of it. The globe count read 17863 hrs total, right outta the box. I use it for gaming both PS3 & PC as well as watching movies which it seemlessly handles BRDVD in 720p (most games & movies are this). The picture qaulity is fantastic, easy on the eyes at extended periods, colours are pure & true, sound is excellent and clear, with many options for customization. I would recomend this set for anyone whom intends to use it as I do. You can still pick them up second-hand, generally needing a cheap globe replacement (around $88 if you are willing to wait). Mine is on between 6-12 hrs a day, which would've contributed to its longevity as its never good to power these units on & off constantly. I also didn't like the fact that the RGB input modes wasn't clearly stated in the menu, discovering by accident that it had 2 modes. Only 1 HDMI input is a lack of foresight as well. LG should consider upgradable parts for this unit as these units can clearly handle new boards with extra HDMI of newer spec, USB or eSATA & so on. I would much rather pay $400 for a new digital board (should I ever need to) than the same part now outdated in this modular cabinet. Excellent in every way, does what it says, efficient power consumption Design of some features lack foresight, needs upgraded optional parts
