Seven Years Old & Still Going Strong – This is the best notebook PC that I have ever owned. I bought it in 2004 when it was specced well ahead of the pack with a DVD+/-RW and high resolution screen. It has run faultlessly ever since, other than he screen backlight failing a year ago. I now use it with an external monitor. I have only needed to upgrade he HDD (for more space) and… Read more

RAM f(for better performance) in recent years. It is still my main computer today (albeit for mail, internet, Office and music) and is only now starting to show its age. I'll actually be sad to retire it. Reliable, faultless & still running everything in 2011 Display backlight failed when it was 6 years old

Excellent – My opinion of this laptop is quite high, I like it's feature's and its durability, it is quite a tough little machine. Another good point is that it is a leading brand. Dell. It is a yes from me. Stylish and eyecatching. It has quite a bit of storage space on it and Is Perfect for somone who is either on the go or in need of a smart laptop for… Read more

Excellent – LG has made a huge comeback over the past several years and the LG LS50-3 being a great product showing the improvement is very impressive. I find this much better than many other products, such as sony. Very compact with a good amount of memory Battery life could be improved

Good – well will say it's a great laptop and it's brand new from the undisappointing LG company and at a very consedrably price.it just make it's entry to the african market and it's already making waves.heard about it from a friend and went ahead to check it out and was in no way disappointed it's very flat and looks impressively smart with a 40GB HD,… Read more

DVD+/-RW COMBO,and an Internal 56Kbps Modem + 10/100 LAN + Intel.it's a very impressive garget that it's model and kind is hard to find in the market.company has already proved it's impressive performance capability a long time ago and this is no disappointment.the sight of the beauty makes it alone a must buy maybe would be better if the memory was much bigger and it lasted a little longer.

Good – Overall it is a handy piece of gadjet, giving you all the things needed and giving you a high quality result. The LG LS50-3 is a very handy and light unit, can be taken almost everywhere you want to go. Offers you so much, and helps if you are a buisness person, needing it everywhere you go. Some people have it as an extra item in the house but… Read more

can come in real use if you know what I mean, like going to friends house to do homework, etc. The battery is the most painful part in having this for if it dies halve way while your doing lets say work you lose it all.

OK – Its not the best performing laptop when it comes to graphics (games and stuff), it's a very good package for someone who just needs to use it for simple programs like word processing, accessing the net and other things. Very good sized keyboard, big bright and clear screen. Controls are well laid out and the wireless connectivity feature works… Read more

well. Sort of light to carry and use/ Very easy to operate and you're able to use a few different applications at the same time without encountering any problems or the laptop freezing. The big screen without widescreen function, very low performance, it could be lighter than 2.7kg, get a bigger screen, wireless slows down the machine considerably, not very good tech support and has a really slow boot up. Also, battery life could be a lot better.

Good – Very good machine for the money and I will look for another LG when this one goes in 10 to 15 years... This thing just keeps going. This laptop is very light to carry and use. I have a business that continually requires to be on the go and to continually carry my "brain" with me. I have found this computer to be a very useful for what I am using… Read more

it. From the ease of operating I have to say that that everything is great. This was my first laptop and I had to carry it also to the lectures and to the field for doing some research. So far I have over 30 programs installed on it and sometimes I am using few different applications at the same time. I did not experience any problems in regards the software or in regards the spped of processing. If you have the wireless and IP operator software turned on it slows down the machine when wireless is not in use. SO when you do not use wireless turn the thing off (Fn+F6)

Good – I live in Canada and purchased a Canadian version of the LS50, and due to the non-existence of Canadian-oriented review sites featuring this laptop, I thought I'd write a review. I purchased mine three weeks ago for $1399CAD (this works out to roughly $1600 ~ 1700 AUD). So far I really like the machine. It's got a very good keyboard, and… Read more

overall ergonomics are good. The screen is a generous 15.4" and offers a bright, clear picture; it does, however, tend to wash out in really bright light, like many laptop screens do. It could offer a bit better resolution and smoothness.

In a home setting, where the wireless access point isn't too far away (say within 30' or so) wireless performance is quite snappy. Initial set-up of the wireless system is a bit touchy at first (my recommendation: use the native WinXP wireless set-up and skip the IP Operator software which LG bundles with the machine).

Battery life is half-decent, but does not quite live up to the 6 hours LG claims unless screen brightness is greatly reduced.

Audio quality using the built-in speakers is quite mediocre. However, plugging in a good set of headphones into the headphone jack reveals that the LS50a actually has decent on-board audio circuitry that could really be made to shine if hooked up to a good pair of computer speakers.

I haven't evaluated the built-in DVD playback capability or the machine's suitability for intensive gaming, so cannot offer any advice for users who are into gaming or using a laptop for watching DVD's.

This is not a small laptop. It's thin, measuring just a little over 1.3" thick, but it's not the lightest, at roughly 6.5 lbs. To my eyes, though, it strikes me as a reasonable compromise between a desktop-replacement machine and a road warrior's trusty sidekick. Before buying the LS50, I did look at a Toshiba A70, which had a better screen, but which seemed a tad too large and heavy, tipping the scales at nearly eight pounds.

Overall build quality is quite good, showing better fit and finish and materials than I found in a few comparably-priced Compaq and HP models.

I haven't had the LS50 long enough to pass judgment on its durability or long-term reliability. My biggest quibble with the LS50 is that it has a very noisy CD-ROM drive. The noise seems to generate vibrational harmonics which interfere with the sound quality of the on-board speakers.

The feature set, overall quality and bundled WinXP Home OS indicate that this laptop is primarily aimed at the home and home-office market. As such, it will probably appeal to users who want a machine suitable for surfing the internet anywhere in the house, doing light word-processing tasks and listening to music (use AC mains power to spare the battery if planning to surf and listen!). Its size and weight would not make the machine a first choice if you are plan to travel extensively, or need a machine for the road.

I short, the LS50 seems to offer very good value for money, and few compromises you can't live with. Very good keyboard. Big, bright, clear and readable screen. Half-decent battery life. Controls are well laid out. Wireless connectivity feature seems to work well. Screen resolution could be better. Noisy DVD/CD player/burner, which is a bit slow to boot up. Battery life not quite as good as advertised. Mediocre on-board speakers. Not the lightest choice around. Smallish 40GB hard drive.

Good – my first laptop and I'm really impressed, will definately be buying another one in the future when this one becomes a dinosaur. scrolling function is good, keyboard also good, graphics and speakers sufficient for home business, educational purposes. easy to use, good looking, great lcd screen, dvd/cd burner slow boot up - really annoying, no floppy drive, battery life not as good as advertised

Terrible – Basically dont touch it with a ten foot pole. Get a laptop that provide TRUE website tech support and FAQs. LG FAQ site is empty (unbelievable but true) Go for the Toshiba, Acer, etc that provide a good after sales support. It looks the part indeed ALmost everything else. Zero tech support, no BIOS updates, Hassle to find RAM that suits it Oh yeah, the tech support doesnt exhist on the website so no downloads are available.

Good – Although maybe not the best performing laptop when it comes to graphics, it's still a very good package. It's a joy just looking at it! Overall I'm very satisfied with this computer, as the price is low and the features right. It's slim, great battery capacity (max. 10h), gorgeous looks, excellent keyboard, SD (Secure Digital) card reader, nice… Read more

bright screen, and it also comes bundled with the latest Nortons Antivirus (2004 version). Price a bit high, but the RRP has come down from 2999 to 2399, so that's not really an issue anymore. Also it lacks separate graphics card, so don't expect to be playing very many 3D games on this PC.
