LG LST-5403P

Excellent unit with great features – I exchanged a Sony DVR (which lasted 2 days before crashing) for the LG LST-5403P Digital Video Recorder. I have had the LG now for about 3 months and I am very satisfied with the performance of the unit. It is very easy to set up and operate and the picture quality of direct TV and recorded content is excellent. Connectors are solid and clearly marked. Initial setup is easy.

The only negative comment would be that the clock has no battery backup and is set by the digital broadcasting channel. If power is lost to the unit, you have to wait for a signal to be transmitted for the unit to set it's time clock. This would be a distinct disadvantage if you had programmed a show to record and there was a temporary power failure following programming the unit. Overall though, I would recommend this unit and the 250gb HDD is more than adequate and the twin tuners with time shift capability make the unit an excellent buy. Easy to setup and operate. Crystal clear playback. No battery backup in the event of power failure once programmed.
