Terrible – A typical product made to get money quickly, without any care about reputation. I will never buy anything made by LG. Absolute disregard to detail, which is important for proper functioning of the machine. The only reason I use this gadget is that I do not like to throw old things away - they can always be used for some purpose... It records on the hard disk, I have eventually managed to record something on DVD-R, although have not been successful with DVD-RW yet. HAVE INCREASED THE CAPACITY OF HD TO 200GB and the length of recording to 33.5 hours. YES !!! When bought new I could not record on DVD discs. The recording stopped after 4-7 minutes. I did not have time to take it back to the shop, besides I do not believe in "warranty repairs". I pulled out the HD, put it into an external casing and found out that the hard disk was NOT PROPERLY FORMATTED !!! I formatted a 250GB disk to FAT32 and put it in instead of 120GB disk. The system recognises only 200GB, so if you want to do the same, do not waste money, use only 200GB disk. Now I have no problems with recording to DVD discs.

Terrible – Emails to LG on the problems experienced have been mostly ignored and those responses I have received have been general in nature and do not address the problems I have experienced with this piece of electronic disaster. If nothing else, I have gained a boat anchor disguised as a state of the art DVD recorder. Recording to HDD is relatively simple, as for the rest forget it. Even at set-up of menu items, most basic options are greyed out which does not allow changes to suit your particular electronic environment. Currently the DVD disk draw won't open even though its been back for a two week repair. Undoubtedly the worst piece of electronic gear I have ever purchased. Seems that it was released much too early and indicates to me that it is still in its Beta phase.. LG replaced the original RH4940W I purchased but the new unit is no better.

Bad – have now been informed that the problem of lip sync can be fixed by an authorised service centre during warranty period, needs a 4000 series firm ware upgrade, but make sure you do it during the warranty period. not a bad unit, once problem fixed. lip sync from HDD to disc when edited from HDD>
