Great mouse – Purchased the G500s variant for around 130 bucks in 2014. It came with weights , small disks you could install underneath to improve handling. I never used the weights but loved the shape and feel. Mouse finally failed The left hand mouse button started doing multiple clicks when you pressed it. Probably worn out after 6 years of solid gaming. The cable came with a nice braided overlay but it wore out after couple of years and became wedged at the end of the cable. Overall excellent mouse, which has been replaced with the G502. Can recommend the G5xx series.

Purchased in at JB Hi-Fi Retail Stores for $100.

Solid performer – This mouse has served me well for over 2 or 3 years now. Excellent build quality, nice mouse buttons, scroll feel and adjustment options. The width of the mouse is a little thin low down, which can make quick gaming movements a little difficult to control - but this would be heavily dependent on your grip. Also the nice pattern on top is wearing where the hand contact quite quickly.

Like the weights, and particularly like the 9 settings for mouse samples, makes it easy to switch mid game if I want to and is surprisingly good for switching between multi monitor setups.

Got this mouse from a Logitech discount sale for $50 so my value equation is excellent.

been working good for 2 years – Great mouse upgraded from a g5 ( which is basically the same just older ) The cables i got on both have been pretty bad. They cant really be straitened and one of my side buttons sticks when not used much Also i have found no games that allow me to use the middle red thumb button

after 3 years i had to get a new one due to buttons not working when cold and sticky buttons. now got a G402. still prefer the G500 due to the free spin wheel

nice mouse, but disposable – I've had Logitech's G500 gaming mouse for a year or so, using it for a mix of games, work, computer aided design. I'm not a hardcore gamer but I enjoy spending time on some of the pointy clicky games. The mouse is comfortable, it fills my palm well and fingers and thumb fall on the buttons. The placement of the three extra buttons under your thumb can be confidently clicked without needing to look away from the screen.

There's not much to say about the sensor or button weighting or the low friction slides on the base, these days even $20 mice are pretty good. Is the G500 better? Probably, but not astonishingly so.

The mouse worked well for 12 months, then it started dropping items when dragging. Not really noticeable at first but the left button gradually worsened until it could click but not hold. Couldn't drag icons, couldn't select text, couldn't choose a selection of files without the mouse registering a click instead of a hold. I've not seen this on a mouse before and was at a loss. A quick internet search suggested that this happens to many G500 mice (all of them?). Fine, I've had mice before, just a matter of popping it's lid and cleaning the lint out right? Not as it turns out. Four of the five screws are under the slide pads and once removed to access the screws, the pads don't stick back down well. The mouse wasn't full of lint and nothing appeared broken on the inside. This is not an easy maintenance fix, Internet have you leveling hammer pads with glue.

My conclusion is that this is a disposable mouse, it works well while working but is to be thrown away and replaced when it stops working. This is all over Logitech's web site and they have had plenty of time to refine the model, so designed failures? Just saying.

Given that this mouse is sold as a premium gaming device, I am disappointed with it's working life. As I've said above, the working mouse works well - and the button configuration software is easy to use. However, this is not a device I would buy again, nor recommend.

If you are looking for mice / keyboards / etc. I suggest search for typical problems with your chosen model before buying. I didn't and I'm now looking to buy a replacement. well weighted, easily configurable buttons buttons fail and repair is not practical
