Excellent if expensive – If you can pick one up cheap(er), go for it. It's a very well built product with great sound & image quality. The mount may not be the best, but its' not bad: It sits fairly safely on top of my 24" monitor, it has a pretty well balanced holding structure, but it could probably be pulled down by a kid yanking on the cable. I don't know how… Read more
likely it is, or what the damage would be I've luckily managed to avoid it, so far :) And the camera itself seems to be built fairly sturdy. image & sound quality price
Outstanding Webcam - and price has been reduced – I picked this webcam up from Dick Smith for about $68 - bargain! The picture quality is amazing, and it works in low light. Autofocus makes all the difference. I love the Logitech softward, and the avatars are a fun touch. I use my webcam with Skype and have no problems at all; sound and video quality are terrific. Easy to set up, great picture quality More expensive than the others - but worth it!
Good – Although this is one of the more expensive webcams, it is far superior than most of the others. Well worth the dollars. Simple installation process. Great images, good lighting under all conditions. Auto-focus is a BIG bonus. Price
Excellent – I use Skype to communicate with friends and family across the world. This super little camera has an inbuilt mic and is truely plug and play. Load the software and off you go. It also has face tracking and auto zoom so if you move around it follows you. The avatars let the kids create their face as a shark or alien etc... with true moving eys and… Read more
mouth when you chat. Quite funny for those on the receiving end. It is only 2Megapixels so the quality is not the greatest however, it is the best 2MP camera picture on the market. Anything larger takes too long to process video. The software included is great to use and works well with many options included. I highly recommend this camera which I chose after many reviews and a froogle and google search. Buy it!! Great picture for 2Mpix camera. Better than others on the market. Super easy to install and software is great. Setup and settings are intuitive but also easily adjusted if desired. Some fun avatars with the software for the kids to enjoy Can be a little expensive but you truely get what you pay for. Can retail for AUS $199.00 as at June 2009. However, I got one for AUS$99 end of financial yr sale.
Excellent – The Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000's clip fit cleanly onto my flat screen monitor without fuss and installation was a breeze. It looks cool in its black and steel styling, while sitting surprisingly unobtrusively on my monitor. In fact, I hardly notice it's there until I turn it on and see that warm orange ring telling me that it's ready to rock. … Read more
Compared to other webcam's I've used, this takes the cake. The picture quality is fantastic, not what one would commonly associate with a "webcam". Sound is just as good in that I didn't get pops and crackles or humming from interference with my monitor as with other webcams. The "snap" button on the side of the camera is conveniently placed, although it did take a bit of getting used to. The fun tricks that come bundled with the camera, such as the Avatars and Fun Faces are amusing, and I can see how they may become more advanced in the future. These add-ons appear to still be a novelty, but I can see how they could be applied in the future.
Connecting the camera with applications like Skype(tm) and Windows Messenger (tm) was a simple procedure, and now I can make IP based video calls with unprecedented clarity.
Some of the more technical aspects are eyebrow raising: Auto-zoom keeps one's face in focus and frame when moving about, dynamic lighting control ensures that the window behind you doesn't wash out the colour of your face, feedback control stops your speakers and the camera's microphone interfering and making booming noises. The frame rate and capture size is sufficient to capture detail and movement.
Before purchasing I looked at other manufacturer's cams, including Microsoft and Swann, but I finally settled on Logitech only because I've purchased numerous other peripherals from them, all with excellent experiences. The price comparisons between the brands is similar for a similar style camera, so it came down to features, past experience and, to be frank, how "cool" the camera looked.
A note to shoppers: If you're thinking about buying this little baby, I'd definitely recommend it, but shop around and do your homework. I found a pricing difference between two stores (within less than a km of each other) of $60. Installation is almost too easy.
Styling is unobtrusive and non-conventional.
Picture, frame rate and sound quality are vastly superior.
Features like auto-focus, auto-zoom, feedback control keep it frustration free.
Features like Avatars and Fun Faces are fun for a while.
Links into messaging programs without fuss. Avatars and Fun Faces sometimes don't look as they probably should, and currently feel like just a novelty.
The price of the unit is at the higher end of the spectrum.
Excellent – Little things that you think you may want to do such as turn off the red light that comes on as the camera is activated is possible through the software. All the issues I have had with the camera have seemed to be caused with external software such as Flash or windows live messenger - they have been very simple fixes such as running the camera… Read more
wizard or going into the relevent settings. Fantastic quality lens. Works in dark or light room. Best mount on a webcam I have used which even allows it to sit on my desk instead of my monitor due to distance from my face. Zoom, autozoom and other features are available if you use the software that comes with it. I don't know of anything to put as a con.
Excellent – We bought this so that I could Skype with my Dad in the USA. We have two children that cannot sit still and my Dad is hard of hearing. So we didn't want a cheap solution that would make it difficult for him to hear or see us. So far the Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 has been brilliant. The visual quality is very good on his end, even in low light,… Read more
and the sound quality is also good. We are very happy with this product, which we've owned for 6+ months now. Easy to install and works really well.
