Unreliable and ineffective. I can’t believe how much money we spent on this POS. Very disappointed Show details
Poor Heat Plenty of Gas used – Installed a Lopi DVS GS2 Very poor heat out put for the gas used. Removed the screen attached to the 1 piece panel and the fan outlet this made some difference but I think the real problem is dragging the cold air from outside to heat it up ie 4degrees to try and get 22 is not working. We had a free standing Gas heater at our farm that had a flue… Read more
but drew warm air from the room back to the heater and it worked far better. Need to find a remedy or start again. any advise would be welcome
LOPI FLUSHWOOD MEDIUM – We recently had a Lopi Flushwood Medium installed. I describe it as Beautiful, Efficient and Great Value - cranks out the heat, no smell, no noise, no worries - very happy. The cat has taken a liking to it as well!! Show details
Money well spent! – Have had our Flushwood Large for 4 years. We have a 380sqm home, and we never use any other source of heat. We live in regional NSW and regularly get -6 degree nights and 2-3 degree days. There are times when the house is so hot that we open up windows. Burns through the night every time. Load it up at 9.30pm and still going at 6.00am When on the… Read more
highest setting, the fan is a bit noisier than other fires but not ever offensive. Keep in mind that this fire has a very powerful double fan system - one of the highest performing fans available in fires. If the fan is too noisy, just turn it down slightly and you can barely hear it.
To those leaving bad reviews saying that the room temp only goes up 3 degrees - you have something very wrong with the sealing of your windows and doors! If you select the right heater for the room/house, these Lopi units out-perform any other fire on the market!
Would definitely spend the money on this fire again!
Worth the money – We have had our Lopi for 12 years....it's still as good as the day we brought it.....our wood heater heats our entire home. Winters would never be the same without our Lopi....highly recommend.....but for the negative reviews.....a good wood heater works very efficiently as long as you know how to correctly use them and your home is well insulated.....mine has a fan, but very very very rarely do we need to use it.....just saying:) Show details
Cannot fault this heater in looks and efficency – I am actually writing this review by default as I was only looking for the LOPI phone number to order a replacement globe and decided to have a look at reviews whilst I was on the page. I must admit I was quite surprised to see so many negative comments about these heaters. We purchased our 4415HO early last year (2015) from a supplier on the… Read more
Mornington Peninsula in Melbourne and also had them professionally install it. (Mr Gasman). Throughout this process the term professional was most prevelant. We built a house with a relativately open plan living area with 3 metre ceilings and obviously enduring bitter Melbourne winters, we are more than impressed with our LOPI heater. We also have ducted gas heating however most nights this is not used with preference given to the ambience and efficency of the LOPI. I dont know if we 'got lucky' given the other reports but at this point of time would not hesitate to recommend this heater.
Where's the heat – Our heater was installed some 4 years ago and has been a bitter disappointment. The heat it emits needs to be supplemented by an electric fan forced heater. Rubbish heater and would never buy one again! We paid in excess of $5,500 for our heater and despite being assured it would adequately heat the required area, it is a massive failure.
Very disappointed – We have had our heater for 4 years now and it is absolutely useless we have it running from 4 pm till about 11 pm and we sit on our lounge with our blankets as it is freezing cold the heater does nothing but make noise and look pretty not what we paid $6,300 for.
Lopi is crap! – I recently bought an ex-floor stock Lopi heater from Joes BBQ's in Silverwater, Sydney. It has never worked properly. It uses excess gas, a 45 kilo tank in two weeks running less than 3-4 hours a day. It goes on and off randomly, and it more off than on, then the alarm goes off. I have to turn it off, then back on. I have contacted Lopi head… Read more
office and they have essentially refused to help me because the supplier, Joes' BBQs, went into liquidation and did not pay Lopi for the heater that I purchased.
I used a Lopi installer, Lopi flu and was advised after the fact, by Lopi, that there was a part missing on the heater. The installer did not inform me of this. This is a gas product and potentially dangerous. I have contacted the supplier, who said they would get a gas plumber to contact me. Here I am 2 weeks later, and several calls to the supplier, Joes' BBQ's at Silverwater, and I still have a malfunctioning heater. Lopi have also refused to sell me the part.
I have essentially been caught between the manufacturer and the supplier.
NOT GOOD ENOUGH LOPI and JOES' BBQs.
I'd give no stars in the rating if I could!
Looks are not enough – We're were recommended this heater in replacement of our Rinnai rear flue space heater, and we wanted something that offered striking looks. Unfortunately apart from ticking the rear flue and the looks, I have to say that after having had this heater for a four years, I remain less than impressed with it's heat output, and to reiterate the comment… Read more
of others the fan is extremely noisy. I would also prefer there was some kind of external on/off switch rather than having to rely on the remote.
The claim this heater built for the Canadian market and climate, means they must install one in each room and not have any open plan living as there is no way possible for the output claims, and I agree a lot of heat escapes through the rear flu which is great for my dog outside, but obviously not so good for efficiency. Over the four years we have had this we had to install doors to contain the heat which once was no problem for the Rinnai in our two storey home. Now, this has to run constantly with a level if noise unacceptable in a living area. When it arrived after weeks and weeks of waiting the box was opened and damaged and we always suspected components were missing, but our concerns fell on deaf ears by the retailer so we felt stuck with it.
I also agree with others that reviews here are so important when we purchased we scoured the Internet to find reviews on this product but they were biased manufacturer reviews, so we got caught taking the retailers advice which has left us disappointed and for the expense of this product I very much expected more substance.
Expensive but worth it! – I decided to write this review as I couldn't find enough unbiased information on this heater (the Lopi 564 HO GS fireplace) and thought it might be useful for others. I particularly like all the different options of flame height, and love the contemporary look of the fireplace. The heat output is surprising - much more than I expected, and… Read more
adequately heats my kitchen, dining and lounge area. I checked out a few other brands but chose the Lopi because it has so many options - and really imitates a wooden fire. It uses more gas than I expected (LPG) but I think it's comparable to the cost of buying a load of firewood. I am very happy with this gas fire. Looks, range of options Cost
Disappointing – Having been told that this heater would be best for our living area; the heat output has been very low. Looks great, but delivers well below expectations. Turns itself off for no apparent reason. Very expensive. I have the heater on high and cannot get the temperature above 17 degrees. Looks good Expensive, not enough heat, turns off with no apparent reason.
I have the Lopi Cypress Freestanding Gas Heater and it's having the same issue. It would only go up… Read more (+1 reply)
Lopi DVL – We had this heater installed in our holiday home 3 weeks ago and used it for the first time properly this past weekend. The inside glass is covered in soot and one of the ceramic logs looks to be leaking something that is black. Response from the dealer was disappointing, I made 2 phone calls to be told they had reported the issue. I had to… Read more
call the installer who then told me he had heard about my problem and told me not to use the unit as this would damage it further! ( I had to make the call to be told this!)He would call me back when he could get to visit and check out the problem.
( Guess what 3 hours later and still no call!) I was even asked that perhaps I could have damaged it! I have heard nothing from Lopi, which quite frankly for a brand new very expensive heater is terrible service..I really wish I had read the earlier review before purchasing the unit. Although the heating was very good while we used it. But I guess more than $6000 for 12 hours heating is out there in terms of heating costs!
Less than 1 month old and it is not useable.!

Poor heating performance even in a small area, extremely noisy fan, waste of money !!! – I was sold this product after inspection of my living room (for a fee)and also told i could buy an optional remote with programmable timer. Once installed i was told by the same person that sold it to me, it doesn't have a programmable timer, but programmable thermostat. Then found the heat output to be very poor, after 3 hours of heater running… Read more
on both burners, room temperature had shifted from 15 degrees to only 17.5. My living room is only about 22 sqm. Very poor service and misleading and deceptive advice from the company it was bought from. It's a very expensive heater that does not heat well at all !!!
I would certainly not recommend this product or this company !!! Many face options and very realistic looking expensive, very poor heating output and misleading and deceptive advice from shop it was bought from
I am very disappointed to read your comments. Have you… Read more (+3 replies)
Not enough Heat, and Too noisy – The unit does not produce enough heat. To get any form of heat you need to sit righ next to it. The Fan is very noisy. Tried to have it serviced, Didnt see any difference. The unit looks good, but dont bother buying it for purpose of heating a room. Very disappointing..
