Dry Lips, Cuts, Grazes, Nappy rashes - it's a No-Brainer – What It Does: As a healthcare professional for over 20 years and a father of 2, Paw Paw Ointment is my go-to lip balm, delivering lasting hydration and protection for all of us. With a fragrance-free, tasteless formula, it extends beyond lip care, serving as a versatile solution for cuts, grazes, and even nappy rashes. Advantages: - It's got a… Read more

thick consistency (but NOT sticky) which is good for dryness and cracking of lips and skin. - I use it for cuts and grazes to protect against the elements. - It comes in small and sufficient container sizes, user-friendly - fragrance-free and tasteless for a pleasant experience - long-lasting expiry date so you don't have to worry about purchasing another one for another year

Disadvantages:

- Limited Scent Options if you like nice smells (I prefer no scents anyway) - It's oil based, so it might not suit users who like lighter textures

Summary:

Paw Paw Ointment's multitasking prowess makes it an essential in the cabinet. Its hydrating and healing benefits extend beyond lips, proving its worth as a versatile skincare companion.

Why this ointment is good, – People that are against this ointment have most likely never experienced debilitating wounds, probably believe what they see on the tv screen and cant get past the word petroleum. Papaya fruit is rich in nutrition which is a requisite for biological healing. Pawpaw fruit is high in vitamin c and has antioxidants. Paraffin not Petroleum is the… Read more

carrier for the fermented fruit. This jelly will not destroy your skin but it will stick to you which is great if you want to have that fruit sticking to your wound. If you are scared that this is blocking your skin pores it is relatively easy to wash off how ever, healing of wounds does not occur through skin pores, it happens through blood circulation. You are more likely to not heal through poor blood flow rather than the use of this ointment. The paraffin acts as a breathable bandage and might help the body to retain the white blood that will weep from the wound. I am using this on my burns that I received from scalding hot oil. It does not hurt me it soothes me, it does not make my skin break out in feverish rashes and it is not creating puss or any kind of infection. I initially treated my burns with four hours of running cold water and no, the doctors and nurses did not recommend I do this.

The deep cracks around my mouth are finally healing up!!! – I bought a 75g tub of Lucas' Pawpaw Ointment for the first time this week. I've known about it for a long time, & its only now I decided to give it a go. I wish I had of bought it 7 years ago when I was first diagnosed with an auto immune disorder by my dentist called Sjogren's Syndrome. It leaves me with absolutely no saliva, & a mouth so dry… Read more

that the corners of my mouth constantly have big, deep cracks which not only look red & unsightly, they are extremely painful as well.

I've tried pretty much every lip balm on the market & they do an "ok" job in that they keep my mouth moist for a short time, but they don't heal up the cracks.

Major relief has come to me this week with Lucas Pawpaw ointment. Hallelujah!!!! I've only been using it about 3 times a day for the last 4 days, but in this short time, I can see that the cracks around my mouth are slowly beginning to close up nicely. I can't quite believe it!!!! It is truly amazing!!!! For the first time in 7 years, I am finally getting some relief for my painful mouth.

My dry mouth has also caused tiny painful blister thingies in the soft tissues inside the bottom lip. By using my Lucas Pawpaw ointment as a lip balm, the blisters are beginning to heal as well. I'm so thrilled, I could cry tears of joy!!!!

I can't speak highly enough of this product. I urge anyone who is suffering with pain from any sort of skin problem, to give Lucas Pawpaw a try. You have nothing to lose, & everything to gain.

Lucas Pawpaw ointment comes in tubes & tubs, in various sizes. Prices are cheapest at Chemist Warehouse, especially for the big 200g tub. I wasn't anywhere near Chemist Warehouse this week, so I decided to just go into Coles for it. I paid $12.50. Money well spent, as far as I'm concerned.

The jar says - a topical application for boils, burns, chafing, cuts, cracked skin, gravel rash, splinters, open wounds, insect bites & nappy rash. The ointment relieves & cleanses. Carica Papaya 39mg/g fresh fermented fruit.

It has a nice fruity taste. Has a texture similar to Vaseline petroleum jelly.

I have 2 words Lucas' Pawpaw Ointment - bloody brilliant!!!!

** I have started using goat soap to wash my face, instead of other soaps. Used in conjunction with the pawpaw ointment, I think the goat soap is also helping with my painful cracks. I am going to keep on using both, for sure**.

Really bad reaction. Caused painful pimply rash – I recently used this stuff for aftercare of a tattoo and it did not go well at all. After the first session I used this ointment and while at first it seemed to do an admirable job after a day of use I developed sever pimply rash all over my arm. I wrote this off as an isolated incident or perhaps just a reaction to the ink used and didn't think… Read more

more about it.

That was until after the 2nd session where using this ointment caused the exact same raised, bumpy pimply rash. More the rash broke out in areas above the tattoo where it had been applied so it was definitely caused by this product rather than a reaction to the ink or tattooing process.

This was finally confirmed when I switched to a different product for aftercare following the 3rd and 4th sessions and had no repeated outbreaks.

I'm not saying this product isn't good or effective only that it CAN cause a pretty severe reaction in some people so be very wary and discontinue immediately if it does.

My holy grail product I can't live without – This product is the only product I will use as lip balm because it's keeps my lips soft and hydrated all day. It is fragrance free and also tasteless. It's thick and does a fantastic job of protecting my lips from cracking. It's non sticky and can also be used for cuts and grazes so it's not only a lip balm. I also use this on nappy rashes on my toddler and also it's a fantastic heel balm. It's a fantastic hydrator and protector with many uses. Show details

An ointment for everything – Have been using this stuff for years. Firstly just as a lip balm but progressively have tried it for various other skin issues (rashes, chafing, bug bites, burns). The thing I’m most impressed about is it’s ability to resolve mozzie bites though (at least for me). I have sensitive skin and also attract mosquitoes like crazy and develop bad… Read more

reactions to their bites. What I find is as long as I put the ointment on early enough (within the hour or so), it works wonders and not only does it relief the itch but the next day they’re gone. However, if I leave things too late like I’m lazy and don’t put it on until a few days later, then It doesn’t work as well and I have to resort to stronger things eg cortisone creams or anti histamines. Always have a tube or tube lying around the house and in my bag.

BURNING OF SKIN – I used this product on my face and it was red and sore next day. Main ingredient is petroleum jelly so avoided it as this is not a natural product. Petroleum based product which should not be absorbed on skin. Show details

Petrolatum with pawpaw washing – Marketed as pawpaw ointment but if you check the ingredients that is minimal. It is almost all petrolatum. I avoid petrolatum but many like it. You can get petrolatum, probably in a less irritating iteration by just buying petrolatum jelly/ Vaseline.

I've been using this ointment for many years. It's hands down the best lip treatment. I've tried so many lip balms and they don't stay on my lips and leave my lips feeling dry. This ointment doesn't do that. I've also used it for other skin issues like rashes, cuts, burns, insect bites. It's good stuff. I've since discovered the lip applicator one which is great to have on hand as don't need to use my finger to apply. Show details

Ointment That Works – Terrific ointment. It has many uses (scalds, sunburn, nappy rash, insect bites, lip cream etc ...), but cold sores wasn't listed but I decided to give it a go anyway. It works!! All natural ingredients without the hefty price for 2g that other cold sore creams are. You only need a little bit, I used it morning and night and the cold sore was soon gone. 75g tube cost $7 at Woolworths.

A True Aussie product – Have been using this wonderful, all Australian product for over 6 years. Thank you ! Originally, it was 2x 200gr weekly but now have graduated to just 2 x 75gr jars. I think every car and fridge should have at least 1 jar on hand. I have a chronic wound which heals completely from time to time but in the meantime, there are no nasties in LPP that can irritate sensitive skin .  Show details

Dry and cracked lips – Every hayfever season I get dry cracked lips, especially in the corners of my mouth that become painful. This is the only thing that worked to cure and prevent it. My Winter Staple – I have used other Papaw ointments before but have recently had extremely dry and cracked lips. Good product! Cheap but useful – I saw a lot people recommended it online. It says good for damaged skin like dry lip or hand. I bought one for my mom. Her hands always become dry at winter. I asked my mom to use it daily. After a few weeks, she said not bad...it makes hands smooth a bit. But it's oily for her. Show details

Not effective – It’s not very effective for already dry lips and it dries up too quickly without moisturising your lips. I’ve used other pure paw paw ointments that work much better and this one just seems to have too many other chemicals in it and it doesn’t give any sort of protective barrier or moisture. Would never buy again. Show details

Love it on my face! – I don’t use this on my lips, but this has been a staple in my beauty routine for at least 10 years. Sometimes the skin on my face can feel dull, lifeless and dry and I put this on overnight and the next morning it feels so smooth, fresh and plumper. I have never sensitive skin but this has never made me break into pimples. Definitely recommend for adults and kids too. Show details

Can't stand the taste. Melts off like petroleum jelly. What's all the fuss for?! – Seriously I can't understand the fuss with the Lucas' Pawpaw Ointment. It keeps being recommended to me as a lip balm by chemist staff and consumers alike but I think they've got rocks in their head. There's hardly any pawpaw in it for crying out loud, it tastes awful and it melts off in no time like petroleum jelly. I much prefer the Nivea lip… Read more
