Not Good – I had a cheap heat gun which worked just fine for 3 years before finally giving up on me. I should spoil myself with by replacing it with a Makita. I was very disappointed. This heat gun will not continuously deliver 2000w of power. Once it reaches the desired temp (even when set to the maximum), it will limit the power. This is fine for some jobs but NOT for stripping paint. It takes three times as long to strip paint using this thing.

My advice is to buy yourself a cheap gun which does not have any electronics inside it to limit the heat.

Build quality is fine. All these gun do is create heat and blow.

Makita HG6020 Review – If you are a serious DIYer you need this tool. It is NOT a toy but a seriously good heat gun. Minimal noise (I've had others that scream like a hairdryer) and easy to use. Lasts forever and like all Makita tools I've bought it just goes forever. Forget AEG, Bosch, Black and Dekker and buy this one. It works great, low noise, great heat control & 3 different temp settings. Pricey - but like all good Makita tools, the quality is long remembered after the price is forgotten.
