Melbourne Map Centre

Map never came! I paid for nothing – I ordered a map over the phone and had it express posted to me. It was supposed to be next day delivery but now, more than 2 weeks later, the map has never arrived. I called and emailed the company and was told 'this happens to our suppliers all the time and they just write it off". Well my $12 for the map and $10 for express postage has gone down the drain. I have absolutely nothing to show for it and the Melbourne map centre seem to think that that is MY problem not THEIRS. If I ran a company and my customer paid for a product that they never received, I would be doing everything I could to make that right. I needed the map for a hiking trip and I had to go without it. It was really inconvenient as well as costing me money. I advise you to NEVER rely on Melbourne map centre.

No concept of customer service – I made an effort to visit this store as I needed a map for a forthcoming trip. The map I needed was not in stock, but the sales assistant confirmed he would order it for me and that it would be in by the weekend. I called on Monday to ensure it had arrived and was surprised to be informed that my order had not even been sent to the supplier. The lady I spoke to (who is apparently the executive director) was very defensive and told me that customer orders were ‘not within her control’.

So – having had my time well and truly wasted - I have ordered the map directly from the supplier, though it seems unlikely to arrive before my trip.

You’d expect, especially in these days when it’s possible to pretty much order anything online, that a specialist retail outlet would be working hard to add value? But not these people. I don’t expect they will be in business much longer.

Great Shop, Great Service – I was looking for a map of Westernport Bay that I had seen displayed in a cafe at Rhyll, Phillip Island. The local parks office put me onto Melbourne Map Centre and I found the map I wanted. I was able to either order over phone or on internet. I rang them and made the order and it was delivered within a couple of days of placing the order. The people that I dealt with were very helpful and efficient. I have since ordered another map over the internet and received wonderful service too. I will shop with them again if I need maps etc. Now I have the christmas present that I needed. Friendly, reliable and prompt service.
