G 1023 and G5300SC – Very disappointed with both (two) Miele dishwashers. The first one (don't remember the model a 3 tray under bench G1023 i think) I bought at Harvey Norman full price about $2,200. It lasted just outside the warranty about 3 to 4 years. The stainless steel look-a-like rusted and scratched from cleaning and the circuit boards wore out. After being… Read more

put through the wringer by their service, I bought a older model G6300 SC at a discounted price on Sep 2014(but thankful for that as some recompense). Now 2.9 years later it has an F14 error. (Circuit boards again i am told). I thought I had purchased both times a premium product that would last. However I am very disappointed that Miele dishwasher only lasts about 3 to 4 years. And disappointed again that after 2 years/10 months the second miele dishwasher stopped working with an F14 error code. As it was is out of warranty (9 months) I have no option other than to pay for an expensive service call of $175.00 plus, plus etc and a week before they could come. As this is half the cost of another band new other brand dishwasher looking on line. I will be buying another brand and hope I get month than 3 years out of it. (A non descript brand bought for a rental property has worked longer than both). So It seems that these dishwashers with circuit boards around steam, water and heat do not have a long life span, so I won't be buying paying a premium or buying a miele again. I will say that while they both worked, both miele cleaned very well. But very disappointed with Miele products at the price that don't last very long.

The Dishwasher that washes dishes – After having a dishwasher (smeg) that broke down regularly in its short warranty span, I wanted one I could rely on (not have to cart it to town (200kms away) for weeks at a time). After reading reviews & purchasing a Miele front loader, I was convinced the Miele dishwasher was the best option. I have not been disappointed. It is a little more… Read more

fickle than my front loader, but still reliable.

The feature I like are - The huge space inside- it fits my big dinner plates (instead of being banished to the 2 places in each corner where the spray arm won't bash them like my previous dishwasher) the reshape-able/configurable racks are great & the 3rd spay arm works great. I haven't had clogged spray arms & it washes dishes well. The display lights let me know when it needs salt or rinse aid or inlet drain filter cleaning.

Things I see need improvement are-

make sure you use the special knife slots in the cutlery basket instead of punching out the bottom of the basket, the drain filter handle is odd shaped & hard to clean, it is also fiddly to clean the inlet filter, & setting the amount of salt release due to softness/harness is a mystery as we are not on town supply to know the water pH. There is no countdown time & it seems to wash forever, you can't stop the drying cycle early (I have to be patient.....)

But overall it hasn't let me down reliable, huge space inside, works well expensive, fiddly to clean filters, goes for a loooong time

Good – I love this dishwasher. As a mum of twin babies and a toddler, time is a premium. This washer has been a lifesaver. I barely rinse dishes before stacking (removing only large pieces of food, but not washing every plate) and they come out clean every time provided I stack it well. The door is nice and stiff to open so my 2 year old can't get in.… Read more

It's really quiet and gives a good clean provided it is stacked well. I have had this for 6 months now and so far, it has been very reliable and continues to wash well. I am fairly lax with filter cleaning (I only do it when the dishes don't clean well) and it lasts a long time between cleans. I have had one problem with the washer when all of the lights flashed simultaneously. I turned the machine off at the power and when turned it back on, the motor was running even when the door was open. I had to wait for over a week for a technician (which is a disaster in a house with new twin babies and a toddler). However, I was impressed when the technician came. He used a sensor over the door which diagnosed the problem. Quite amazing! My husband didn't see the value in an expensive dishwasher until he saw this! It turned out it was a problem with the water sensor because a contained had upturned in the cycle and filled with water. He suggested we use the sensor wash rather than normal as I had been, and since, we have had no problem.

One minor gripe is that you cannot stop the cycle to prevent drying (to save energy, I used to open the door of our old machine to air dry). If you do this, the cycle automatically starts again where you stopped it so that it dries the dirty load.

The layout of the top shelf is designed for small narrow items. We have wide mugs and drinking cups and the don't fit in well so you can't fit as much.

Miele Made to LAST! – Solid construction, excellent washing and drying cycles. Quiet & efficent machine, durable and timeless design. Easy to clean and maintain. Easy to stack and a well designed layout. You have peace of mind knowing a product like Miele is made to last and not give up in 3-5years. What more could you ask for in a dishwasher?  Show details

High quality machine – We have owned and used a number of dishwashers in the past, including an Asko (which was on par with this machine). This Miele has given us 8 years of service, being used 2-4 times a day, and the clean quality has always been exceptional. Very rarely do we see a dish that isn't washed properly. We finally had the pump die after 8 years, but they cost $120 to replace, so not a big deal.  Show details

Not happy! – Our 6 year old Miele G1023 dishwasher developed a fault with the re-circulation pump and that cost us $170 for an initial visit from a technician. 16 years old and still going. I'm only writing this review because the unit recently faulted and wouldn't work anymore. We had such a good run with the unit that we went to the Miele shop and looked at their latest models for a replacement. However, I then decided to get Miele Service to come out and diagnose the fault, so that I could compare… Read more

repair vs replacement. The technician interrogated the unit and told us it had done over 9000 hours of operation. That's a lot. In the end, we went for repair, which required replacement of a failed wash pump motor unit. It was around a third the cost of a new unit (including the tech's cost coming out for diagnosis), but it's cheaper and avoids creating more e-waste landfill. Yes, there could be other faults in the near future as the unit is quite old now, but it's a risk I'm prepared to take. Very happy with the Miele dishwasher, it's overall reliability and performance.

Dissapointing Stainless Steel Finish- Rust – We replaced our old miele dishwasher which lasted 20 years with a new miele stainless steel dishwasher around 5 years ago. Beware of cleaning your 'stainless steel' door - rust stains – I decided to go with Miele dishwasher after hearing so much about its reputation. Bought the G1023U about five years ago, expecting it to last a lot longer than this. Problem 1: rust stains on the 'stainless' steel door. informed me that this was my problem for using 'Spray and Wipe'). A replacement door is around $260, with call-out fee and technician time on top of that. Problem 2: weird grinding sound from the motor. This has come and gone periodically but I shudder to think of what's causing it. It actually started not long after purchase. With the door replacement, call out fee, technician hours and sound issue to be investigated, it makes more sense to buy a new dishwasher. It won't be a Miele.

Excellent machine – I've had my Miele C1023 dishwasher for a little under a year and I'm really happy with it's performance. brands and I've never had a problem. Glassware comes out sparkling, cutlery is also clean and shiney when I remove it and no complaints about anything else put into the machine. I do also use it for pots, but anything that's really needing a good scrub, I usually do manually. I like the idea of the third spray arm which none of my previous dishwashers have had.

I find the layout of the machine very good but only realised when it was too late, that putting steak knives pointy end down into the cutlery basket eventually cuts through the plastic at the bottom of the basket which means that later on, other items of cutlery fall through the gap which in turn, prevents the bottom rack from rolling out with the protruding item hitting against the hinged part of the door. I now put my steak knives along the edge of the basket where there are cut outs and where the pointy end of the knife sits on a reinforced section in the bottom of the basket.

The door closes nicely which is something I looked for because my previous Maytag was difficult to lock into place. I do miss a beep or something to let me know when the machine is finished so I can go and switch it off instead of just a flashing light.

I've had 2 machines before the Miele. The first was a Dishlex which was going strong after 22 years but we sold the house. However, I don't think they make Dishlex to last these days. The second was a Maytag which lasted just under 6 years before it developed a fault which the technician said would cost about $400 to repair so onwards and upwards to Miele. I'm hoping I get many years of dishwashing from this machine. Quiet, good layout, really cleans the dishes

Best dishwasher I have had so far! – This machine is so quiet that sometimes you open it just to see if it is running! , it is so simple and easy to use . wasn't really an issue until our bub came along. Also I'm not much of a cook (and have a tendency to burn water), but the Miele seems to scrub up baked on cookware as though it was done by hand.

It seems strange to praise a product that is doing no more than what it was originally designed for - but if my experience with other dishwashers is anything to go by - it is praise well deserved. And if the price-tag leaves a bit of a sting, having hassle free clean dishes is worth it. Reliable, works incredibly well. Expensive, no way to tell how much rinse aid remains.
