Navman PIN570

Terrible – I purchased the Navman thinking I was going to combine my PDA and GPS. I must say, it did the PDA thing quite well, if a little bulky. I found the GPS very slow to find enough satellites from cold; any where from 15-45 minutes was normal. When in use, and you turned off the ignition, and then back on(eg, after a delivery), warm up usually took about 5/10 minutes. So, you need some idea where you are going, and have a hard copy road map if you need to rely on a Navman product.
My main gripe with it though, is Navman, them selves. I tried to update the maps, which you would think would be straightforward. It seems the new map registration Key No was not registered at Navman in my name, so, every time I tried to load it, it would not work. Calling the support line, you get on hold for 45 minutes etc, then it time out and chucks you off. Emails usually take about 3 weeks to get a reply. After several "months" of email, I gave up they agreed to load the maps for me if I sent the unit down. Well, that was September 2007. After a few months I asked them where my GPS was. As usual, after a three weeks they replied their map server was down. We are now in January 2008 and they don't even bother to reply any more. So, be warned. if you buy a Navman product, you are on your own. The Tom Tom GPS a friend has loaded me is great. Fast log on, clear maps, great touch screen, AND.............Good support. Ability to have a PDA and a GPS in the one device Very Very slow to find the satellite's. Speakers very scratchy, map upgrade did not 'work" and support from Navman is useless
