My NEC NW452 washing machine lasted us 24 years and finally the motor burnt out last week. NEC has shifted from domestic appliances to commercial electronic area in 2009 and their products are still going after 15 years. It is unbelievable and truly amazing. I am saying goodbuy and definitely rating 5 stars for it. Show details

Best little machine ever – Last week after 16 years of service, my old NEC died - motor finally burnt out. It even finished that last spin before it gave itself up to washing machine heaven. It was such a solid build and ahead of its time. A wonderful gentle cycle (which my new Seiki is rubbish at) which I deeply miss. It provided great control over any number of minutes… Read more

for any part of the cycle, and it allowed you to change the programmed time on the quick cycle. So flexible. I miss my NEC. They really don't make 'em like they used to. Yes I know it is discontinued, but for what it's worth, I thought it deserved a farewell 5 star review.

Has been a little gem of a washing machine – Over 16 years use and today the hose split and flooded bathroom (where it's situated) and passage, a good innings though. It's only a small machine but OK for a one person flat and I valued that it was so quiet. I purchased it as a 'second' just over $300.00 at the time, very cheap and has never missed a beat. The powder container was a bit hard… Read more

to pull out and the filter bag also bit hard to pull out as it could land any position around the top of the drum after the wash cycle finished, so sometimes a big awkward. But no complaints really. Even though it's now discontinued thought I'd give it a wrap anyway. :)

14 yrs old and still works like a dream – This NEC has served us well and works like a dream. 14 yrs old and still working perfectly. Usually use the quick 24mins cycle which washes everything even husband's work clothes. Usually a full load and powder detergent. Average use - daily 1 24mins cycle. So fast, quiet, easy and reliable to use - a real time saver, can easily do 3 loads in half… Read more

the time others do 1 cycle. Love the 3 water saving options for different sized loads. Nothing has broken despite being in outside laundry, filter bag still intact which we empty after each wash. Once or twice it stopped mid cycle but that was prob due to uneven load with too many clothes twisted or when we moved it not being level - easy fix just restarted cycle. Only thinking of updating as moving to new place with a more visible washer location in guest bathroom and want to upgrade appliances but concerned may find one more modern and up to date in style and features but won't work as fast or as well. We might just keep her, so impressed. Thanks NEC, bubble fuzzy logic works.

16 years & still going well – This is by far the best machine we have owned but it has been sitting wrapped up, so is now going to another home. Buttons cracked on top but what can you expect after so long. Machine still functions perfectly. Bubble wash should have been used in all washers by now.  Show details

NEC Bubblejet 4.5k – - Been cleaning my clothes beautifully for 16 years - button casing cracked within 12 months but didn’t stop the machine from functioning - lint bag in machine tore within 6 months, tied the end in a knot & it hasn’t given me any issues since - lint catcher at the back lower section of the machine wouldn’t stay in at the end so fully flooded the laundry every single load at the end which is why it was replaced.  Show details

loved it and lasted well 11 years – Nec washer washed well and quickly. Never unbalanced. Quiet until pump broke down. Liked easy to read buttons and bubble action. Had great capacity but fitted into small space. Really miss it now its gone. Nothing like it that i can find in shops so far. Other washers complicated or too large or too noisy.

does the job... just – This machine ok. it puts water on your clothes, swishes them around rinses and then spins them. that. is. all. Don't expect miracle results from this machine at all, however it has done the job for me for the past 4 years. it died on the weekend, and i am secretly happy because i can now buy a real washing machine!!! cheap, fast wash cycle… Read more

cleans clothes relatively well Lint filter broke off after 6 months. whole machine died after 4 years use: unable to repaired.

Excellent – Used every week for 7 years and still going strong! I had this machine for 5 years but sadly parted with it because I gave it to my brother who needed a compact size for his apartment. No problems taking heavy soiled garments and blankets (I have pets). I especially like the fuzzy logic function which would adjust the water level &… Read more

timing. The programmable function was very handy too...fill the machine the day before and set it to start just before you get home from work so the load is freshly done and ready to hang as I walk in the door.

I'll be throwing out the awful Fisher & Paykel top loader which I've had for 2 years & I'm going back to an NEC. Fuzzy logic, short 45 minute thorough full load wash, time delay/program, clothes come out clean and looking like new, easy empty lint catcher.

Good – have been using this machine for 5 years, and it's still working perfectly. i love the easy menu and quick cycles - "speedy" one takes only 20min! and the longest one about 50min. it cleans well and doesn't damage the clothes. lint filter is very easy to clean too. time delay, quick cycles, cleans well can't do time delay if using liquid detergent

OK – I found it to be a very reliable machine. apart from the buttons cracking it worked very well for 4 years. I have only just started looking for a new machine since this one has started leaking from some where. Easy to follow settings with time remaining display. Has a spead wash which is half the length of time as all the other washes, but things… Read more

still come out clean. The buttons started cracking after 12 months. if it was over loaded every thing ended up with washing powder left on it, cloths came out worse than they went in

OK – Has several features which initially seem attractive, including appearing to be (too?) gentle on fabrics, but does not inspire any confidence of durability. Note that NEC has long ago ceased to manufacture or support all washing machine products. Good choice of automatic settings to cover many types of loads including "fuzzy logic". Control… Read more

panel surface becomes brittle, deteriorates and crumbles apart destroying all the control labels and, eventually, compromising the controls themselves.

Does not properly clean basic domestic stains such as food.

Noisy operation when switching between stages of a washing sequence.
