Oricom EZY120 GSM Big Button (2011)

Feel Cheated – My mother bought this phone just 18 months ago and has hardly used it. It's been kept in a hard cover case, and never dropped or been near water. Now it's stopped charging and the company say that the warranty is only 12 months and they'll 'quote' for repair. My mother is a pensioner and only has the phone for emergencies and it's total rip off that it only lasted 18 months. Don't trust this phone!
Didn't work – Bought this for my 74 year old dad from Big W online. Didn't work at all, did not charge, did not turn on. After reading the other review, I'll be looking for another phone, maybe the Telstra Easycall2 - that has good reviews. Got a refund from Big - instore for the cost of the phone but had to call the online helpline separately to get the postage fee refunded as the store refused. Didn't work Looked good
Does what it says on the tin, but some things weirdly badly – When I hit my seventies I wanted something with big buttons, big text and most importantly, a loud ring tone. And no other bells and whistles. This is my second Oricom;the first one died after six month with a "screen of death". Replacing it took ages; Oricom required much paperwork and had a rather snooty attitude to go with it. In the end TeleChoice just handed me a new phone. The EZY120 certainly is loud, including the best individual ring tone I have ever had, Mozart. But as a company specialising for the visually impaired, whatever possessed Oricom to have an incoming message with black characters on a dark blue background. I have to arrow down so I can read the message on a white background and then arrow up to take action. There is a red one also, marginally clearer. Another problem; I like to carry the phone in my pocket and, accidentally, I am constantly dialling the emergency services. There seems to be no way to lock this out. There is also a flashing green light which lights up my dark bedroom and appears to serve no purpose, not to mention when charging an intermittent "chirp" and bright screen just as I am nodding off and often later in the early hours. The alarm on the other hand occasionally does not ring as requested, though the snooze sounds 4 hours later. The only fix is to reboot by removing the battery. I would not recommend this unit to anyone expecting the usual features found in a "normal" phone at this price. Perhaps Oricom should employ old people to design these things. Partly excellent but too many annoying aspects. Big Buttons, Loud, Bright Too many irritating ill-thought out features. Labour-intesive warranty proceedure
