Very reliable, no problems in 6 years – Purchased the two handset version in February 2009. (From the GoodGuys). Replaced the batteries in both in late 2014. Good range even outside in our large yard. I use a headset cable attached to the phones (for hands-free) used for up to an hour (or more on occasions). Battery charge has never been an issue although in our (almost) 6th year the… Read more

charge retention did wane. New batteries and phones were back to normal.

We have always had very reliable use with Panasonic stuff, Most recent Panasonic purchase is a DVD player recorder. Their products are not the cheapest, but in the long run the most economical buys.

(I came here looking for a PDF Handbook for the phones).

Unreliable – We have had this phone for several years now so it is unfortunately out of warranty, otherwise we would be taking it back for a refund. For a very long time now, the battery has only lasted around 45 minutes when taking a call - it can go from fully charged to "recharge for 7 hours" within 20 minutes. The 7-hour recharge time is excessive, so if… Read more

we need to make several calls in a row we end up having to use our mobiles (which is frustrating as our mobile reception is quite poor at home).

If we try to put the phone on speaker, it immediately goes flat. There are also times when we dial a number and the phone will turn off, despite being fully charged (having been on the charger for the required 7 hours). It constantly loses connection to the base, even in the middle of calls, so we have to put it back on the base, wait for it to register, and then continue on with the call hoping that the poor person on the other end is still there (albeit wondering what on earth is going on).

The base actually rings louder than the phone itself, so if we have absentmindedly left the phone in another room and somebody calls, we spend about 20 seconds walking around the house trying to listen out for the phone, and then end up missing the call because the base is that much louder that we can't find the phone.

We would have tried to return this phone a couple of years ago, but we had such incredible difficulties with Panasonic's customer service on a fault with another electrical item in 2011 that was barely out of warranty, that we honestly couldn't be bothered dealing with them again. We will, however, be avoiding Panasonic products from now on.

Great phone - easy to set up and reliable – Our old Telstra cordless phones have been dying a slow death so replaced these with the Panasonic KX-TG4392 based on reviews on this site. Far easier to use and more reliable than the Telstra units. Reception is great and we can use them outside no worries at all. Very good value for money. Ease of set-up and great reception Nothing so far

Don't bother looking at this model – We were assured by the young bloke at Market town Newcastle Office Works that these phones were the bees knees, "I have them at home and they are awesome". The charge they hold is about a day if you're lucky, the answering machine is low level recording and the worst thing of all is the speaker quality in the hand sets. It sounds as though you're… Read more

talking to people on the moon through a tin can and a piece of string. Needless to say, they are going back for a refund.. More research and advice needed but it won't be from Officeworks! The range and signal was good, consistant and stable. Hard to work-address book is a pain to add and delete stuff, the speaker in handsets sounds like talking through a tin can, the batteries are short life capacity.

Works well – Got this phone through fly buys rewards program and cannot fault it. It has worked perfectly since the day we got it. Its lightweight and easy to use. Would recommend this phone to anyone. The only downside is the bright light at night when it is charging - but really I'm just nit-picking as it's easily solved by not having it on the charger! Lightweight, easy to use. Works well

Good value, never missed a beat, good range – I've had this answering machine and handsets working now since Oct 2012. I'm not sure what the other reviewer experienced but it certainly wasn't the norm for us. No way in the world is this linmited to 10 minute talk time. The range around our modest 3 bedroom brick veneer house is excellent. It goes out into the street and all the way to the… Read more

back fence no problem.

That's all we want really. Not much else to say except it did everything it said it would on the side of the box. Both handsets battteries have gotten down to holding only a one hour charge now in July 2013 (the original Panasonic batteries were very low capacity to start with - ~500mah), so I've bunged 2 standard AAA NiMh re-chargeables in each from Aldis. They're back to holding charge for several days at a time. That was one reason I bought this unit: easy battery change.

I would have thought in this modern computing age that recording voice messages to tiny digital chips would be crystal clear by now. But the same as other answering machines in this price group the quality is still very basic. I thought Panasonic would be better, but it isn't a killer. And I haven't heard any others that are any different for this price. Range is good. Affordable. Reliable. They do as they say on the box. The answering machine recording quality is as "good" as other phones at this price I've experienced. I thought Panasonic might be better. It is still OK.

Shocking waste of money... never worked! – This phone is a shocker, it only allows you talk time of 10 mins, even after being on the charger ALL night. This has been happening since day 1. no warnings and showing a full battery simply drops out and tells me to charge for 7 hours. Both handsets do the same thing. I have changed the batteries, but did not help. Can't buy Panasonic batteries from supplier either (Harvey Norman) they don't stock them.

Good quality phone – I've now had a number of Panasonic cordless phones and have never been disappointed. This latest model has crystal clear quality wherever we are in the house or yard, it looks nice and is simple to use. The battery also seems to go on for ever and even after a few years, it takes an age to fully discharge. Quality of call, nice look and easy to use  Show reply

Excellent and reliable phone system – Moving to a larger home meant that we needed to extend our current Panasonic cordless phone. I was unable to purchase additional handsets so I purchased this three handset system. I didn't need the answering machine as my phone provider message bank is included in my bundle. The answering system has been turned off. The range is dependent on the… Read more

sighting of the base station and its proximity to appliances and walls etc. We have an acreage property and I take the phone with me in the yard when working near the house. The range is adequate but could be better in my particular situation. It has a handy intercom between handsets. It also has a night mode to block unwanted calls between defined times. I have used Panasonic products for years now and had no problems. I have purchased other brands before and had to return them so I stick with Panasonic. Respected brand, Reasonable pricing, AAA recharageable batteries, functional headset socket and belt clip, shared phone book between handsets. 50 name memory is limiting, writing could be larger on LCD screen as difficult to read without glasses.

Excellent – I have had of four unit phone system prior to this one and the Panasonic out performs it in every element. The base unit is in my study at the front of my home and the handsets are crystal clear all the way to my back fence which is 50 metres away and even inside my shed which is 30 metres away while might pool pumps are going. I also love that… Read more

their handsets a signed themselves individual numbers and that once this happens you can do an intercom call from one handset to another. I have purchased the four handset unit which was competing with an equivalent Uniden model for my dollars. Having all the features that are needed and being cheaper than the Uniden the choice was simple. I've never been one had to go looking for messages, and even though there is a small red flashing lights on the base station and a orange light blinks on each handset I would love for there to be an audible be setting available for when a message is waiting. I also wish the volume could go just a little bit louder as I am a touch hard of hearing.

Bad – I paid $150 for the set with one extra handset. People are constantly asking me to speak up because they can`t hear me and I am forever asking them to speak up because I can`t hear them!! It`s a rediculous situation for a phone that costs that much and that claims good range because it is 5.8GHz. When you check for messages on the answering… Read more

machine it is so hard to hear what they are saying, so then you turn the volume up on the unit and all it does is distorts so you STILL can`t hear what they`re saying either way. I have to play messages over and over again everytime! I am at this very moment waiting for my new UNIDEN phones to be delivered. I am hoping I made a better choice with that! I would definately not recommend buying this Panasonic set. Phones look nice Expensive and does not deliver what is says these phones do. can`t really hear the actual phone ringing as it`s very quiet. Almost impossible to hear people even when it is quiet in the house. Answering machine is not great.

Average phone with annoying messaging – This phone is good with voice, hearing and having loud speaker capabilities from the cordless phone itself. The battery life is good enough as it will provide 2 hours of talk time. If you forget to place the phone back into it's charge spot then the battery will drain and will take 7 hours until fully charged again. The messaging service is… Read more

annoying, it is very basic and i have not found how to turn it permanently off, i have contacted panasonic customer care and to no avail. It will ring 12 times before switching straight to messaging, once this happens once, it then goes down to 6 rings automatically until you press a button on the home unit. This can be annoying as it charges people for the call. Inexpensive, a good basic unit Automatic messaging service is annoying

Good – Bought this to replace a 3 Panasonic Handset system I had before. My previous Panasonic system would play your OGM message and the callers incoming message from the base unit and the handsets. This system doesn't play your message or the callers message, you can only hear the incoming callers message from the base unit. I know its not a major… Read more

issue, but when you get used to something, its hard to go back to something that doesn't happen anymore. I downgraded from 3 handsets to 2 handset with this unit. Now thinking about it, I wish I had 3 again. Belt clip for the handsets is a good idea. I often throw it in my jeans when going outside to water the garden etc. Would consider another Panasonic system if this ever dies, hopefully not the same way as my old system. I had moved the base unit onto the floor to dust the side table it was on, and my dog decided she wanted to play, and knocked a full vase of water into the base unit. Needless to say, its now in the bin! Colour, Battery Stand By Life, 5.8GHz When answering machine picks up a call, you don't hear your own Out Going Message (OGM) from either the base station or handset

Good – Got the 3-handset version on sale for $139 - a killer price. It replaced a Doro and 4 year old Panasonic 2-handset. The answering machine recording quality is better than the Doro, but noticeably worse than the older Panasonic. The voice quality during a call is excellent. The usable range from base to handset is much further than from handset… Read more

to base (the handset hears fine but the voice transmission can be unusable) - from 1 house to the next. Previous comment on the message waiting lights are not a worry for us as they do attract obvious attention. Keys are backlit, good voice quality, intercom, phone finder, answering machine, standard easy to use menus familiar to previous Panasonic owners, good phone build quality. Answering machine recording quality is not great, menus are old - analagous to working with DOS6 in 2010 (understandable to computer types) aka 'steam powered software interface' (for others).
