Purchased in 2011, my TH-P42GT30A has only just now stopped working at the start of 2026 (4 flash red led code which equates to a P-board issue). 15 years. God, I wish they still made these Plasma TVs, as they are still very hard to beat with anything but the latest OLED.... Show reply

Had a descent run – I'll consider myself lucky but unlucky, after 6 and a half years our gave up the ghost today.Happy to be buying a new tv but not happy to be spending the money.

still going strong! – Funny seeing how many people are angry about problems with Panasonic p50gt30a a 5 years....mine is still going after 5 and a half ...and used by the family 18-20 hours a day! Half the people I know buy LG and rave about how nice they are..but admit that they only last a year maybe two ...at best! Then happily buy another new LG...but that`s Australia.

So good for me, but not others – The TV, even now, gets compliments from guests. It's got an awesome picture, and apart from a buzzing noise at night that I had to fix by tightening a screw on the back, it's been flawless for 5 years now. Color reproduction and brightness levels are at the same level as I bought it. I feel for other people who aren't as lucky, I'll definitely be keeping this one when I upgrade next.

Same here – Just 5 years old and same as earlier reviewer. Same board, same result. Absolutely disgusted. From reading US info it appears Panasonic knew there was something faulty with these TVs and did a 'silent recall' in the USA... generally Pana TVs are identical but have a different second letter in model number for US - e.g. in UK (I think) TH-P46GT30A… Read more

becomes TK-P46GT30A and in USA TU or similar. Anyway, silent recall apparently means if you know about it you get your TV repaired for nothing, if you don't you pay. This is not the only instance I've heard of people having this short life with Pana and now with plasma not available, have to put up with motion crappy LED or LCD.

Excellent picture, poor build quality – Sadly my TH-P46GT30A has died, displaying the 7 blinks failure code. Excellent TV in terms of image and 3D, but died so quickly. Panasonic Australia don't support these TV's, referring me to a third party repairer who advised SC/SU/SD repair boards required are no longer available. Only 5 years after release! Don't purchase unless it's refurbished with factory or retailer backed extended warranty. This failure seems very common.

Poor quality and poor after sales service - will stay away from Panasonic – Panasonic THP50GT30A this model is not reliable. It went POP and has the 7 blinks of the red light or the so called 7 blinks of death. So, after only 5 years (Made in April 2011) I have to spend around 400 to replace the SU Board or the SD Board. After contacting Panasonic directly, they got a repairer to call me. He was at least helpful in… Read more

providing the SO S2 details of what may be required to replace it. However, apparently, these boards are no longer available either. So, I am either going to have to rely on some dodge parts and can be totally taken for a ride to fix this TV.

Particularly frustrating during the Olympics, do I repair, or buy new?!

Ultimate crap!!! – On 05.03.2012 I bought TV Panasonic TX-P46GT30E which worked regularly until a few days ago, when he just stopped working without any indication that there are any problems. Appearing of the famous "7 red blinks of death" (if this is not known by any chance, feel free to google it on you tube ...) Since I bought the TV via the internet (payment… Read more

on the SE-MARK Shop Marin – licensed dealer of Panasonic products in Croatia), and after the purchase, at my insistence, and received verbal confirmation that I have a 5-year warranty, I have lived in the belief that it is really so.

Since this TV was everything but cheap, the last thing I expected was that a failure after only 3 years of service!? Now it turns out that I don’t have 5 year warranty??

After a detailed introduction with this problem, I can say two things. The first is my conviction that when it comes to this kind of failure, it is a "bug-in", or a software programmed fault.

Another thing is the lack of professionalism from Panasonic service Croatia, because it does not recognize the warranty.

I can only tell you that I, nor anyone from my broad family will never buy any product with the logo of Panasonic again !!!

Wouldn't touch Panasonic again – Ok while it worked. Blew up after 18 months. '7 blinks of death'. Really poor for an expensive bit of kit. Stay away from panasonic I'd say.

Don't Buy Panasonic unless have extended warranty – TV was great while it worked. Purchased in March 2012 and broke down may 2014. fault with board. Panasonic said to take it to their authorised repairers but no one close than an hour away. Will have to foot the bill myself of $470. Repairer said he had recently done 2 others like this. Previous Panasonic plasma also stopped working only after 4 1/2 years. Clear bright pictures, good sound Power components fail after 2 years
