Great TV – Great plasma TV that served us well until we upgraded 5 years later. Has internet, great for use with Chromecast etc. Unfortunately plasma is a dying technology, and this TV is heavier than the moon. Our new TV is lighter than our dog. Show reply
Great TV – Great tv that connects to the internet and also has a lot of other features including a 3D option. Great size, Great colour and sound. All over very happy with this tv.
Bad Quality – I bought my panasonic plasma in late 2011 and it has only lasted 20 months and it has hardly been used. Was watching tv and it came up with a horizontal line across the middle then the tv turned off and now the red light flashes 7 times. I have unplugged it for a few hrs an plugged it back in but still will not turn on and the red light still… Read more
flashes 7 times. Was a good picture Bad quality only lasting 20 months for the cost of it compared to other brands.
Good Value – Paid under $900 for this 50" plasma tv from JB Hifi. Has been excellent. Reliable, good picture quality and easy to use. Can't comment on sound quality as I use a home sound system so never play sound through tv. Only issue was 3D glasses didn't come with tv. They were nearly as expensive as the tv to buy so bought online for approx 25% of the cost from JB Hifi. Good picture, easy to use, reliable Need dark room to avoid reflections.
Great picture quality easy to use remote – Love the plasma picture after having an LCD TV. Colours are sharper with less distortion with fast movement.Remote control very easy to use with good sized buttons. The sound is acceptable, but a lot better than other flat panel brands that fall down in this area Love the picture quality and ease of use Daylight or living room lamps reflect back on the screen, the room needs minimum light for best viewing
Totally happy after 5 years – Just back from visiting family over a few days who have the latest Sony LCD-LED, and glad to get a much better picture from the plasma. There has not been one thing to criticise during 5 years of ownership. Using a meter it uses much less electricity than the manufacturer quotes, both while running and on standby. Nice if it wasn't so heavy to… Read more
shift but then that makes it more difficult to steal. Has been totally reliable and all visitors have commented on the picture quality. Totally reliable and the best picture I have seen at any time.
Good value for money Plasma television – The first question to encounter is Plasma vs LED/LCD. There are plenty of blogs about on this pushing one over the other. I went with Plasma over LED mainly because at 50" I thought the picture quality was more consistent across the full panel and the picture was easier on the eyes. This TV was well priced, and produces a good picture. The… Read more
colours are vivid, and the blacks very black. However, I was aware that Plasma TVs are subject to glare in bright rooms, and having transitioned from a CRT thought this should not be too bad. Unfortunately, the glare is quite bad and I have a few moments of thinking I should have got the Samsung LED Smart TV (even though I could only afford the 46").
I wall mounted my television, and it is a heavy beast. You really want to ensure you have a suitable wall bracket, and have it fixed into the wall studs effectively.
On the pros though, I connect to this TV using my smartphone to send pictures and videos. The DLNA certified system across my wifi works seamlessly. Streaming youtube on the tv using the internet functions (which needs a separate wifi adapter sold separately) works great.
The tv also links in well with the other components e.g. turning on when a BluRay is loaded into the player etc.
Picture quality is very good, but like all tv's I think the input signal is the factor that affects this the most. For example, playing a bluray DVD produces an outstanding picture, yet, some television pictures are a bit smudgey and pixelated.
Sound quality is perfectly reasonable. If puttig one of these into a media room (which as a darkened area is the best place for a plasma) then seperate sound devices would probably be used anyway.
The new Samsung AMOLED televisions have also about to be launched, and if priced right are probably a better tv, but probably more expensive. For the price, these televisions I consider to be good value. Price, DLNA connectivity Internet functions fairly limited, light reflections
Great picture and surprising sound – The picture is really sharp, super quick and the blacks are (as you'd imagine from a plasma) deep and fulfilling. If you're looking for a bright picture with loads of super-fine detail then this is probably not the set for you. But if you're looking for a deeper, more mature, slightly subdued picture then you can't go wrong with this television. … Read more · 1
I was also surprised with the sound quality of the inbuilt speakers, which fills a medium sized room quite comfortably.
The SmartTV functions are a nice addition, although not mind blowing. The ability to watch ABC shows on demand is the best you will get out of it I would say. I'd love to Skype directly from the television; but I can't bear to spend $200 on a proprietary camera. Speed, blacks, contrast, depth, picture quality Remote a bit humdrum, smart functions under-developed
