A great TV – I am very pleased with my TV The picture is very sharp and with good colour. The HDMI ports are adequate for my needs. The features controls and performance are excellent.
Still going – Anyone reading this in 2019? I still have my Panasonic TH-L42U20A. I bought new in 2010 and has never skipped a beat, 9ys on and still going. I bet technology has changed by now. Show details
Quality and value for money – 07/11/15 - We've had our Panasonic TH-L42U20A TV for 5 1/2 years and its a great TV as all Panasonic products are. Its never given us any trouble and I think the TV was excellent value for money. The remote control is easy to use and the buttons seen to be perfectly positioned for one handed use.
Love My Viera – I've had my 32" Viera for the past 2 years. I am really happy with it. It is energy efficient with great picture quality. I find it stylish, looks great in my TV cabinet and is very easy to operate with simple hook up to my computer from the side and back. With 1 push of the button it switches between the TV and AV. Automated set up. The… Read more

This is my first Viera and I will keep loyal to this uality brand.
I recommend it to anyone. Love the look, great picture quality, easy to operate, energy efficient.
Excellent for watching TV and DVDs – Easy to assemble and after a few set-up steps (using the easy-to-read instructions provided) you’re ready to watch TV. The picture is excellent – clear, bright & sharp. The sound is also clear – ie, not distorted. I have had this TV for almost 12 months and have had no problems. The only down side is I am not young enough to know… Read more
everything my TV is capable of doing. That is, there are many different features, outlets and inlets on this TV that I have no idea for their use. I simply use it to watch DVDs and free-to-air TV. For this reason, I can't comment on its abilities when playing games etc or how its many other features work. Clear, bright and sharp pictures with undistorted sound.
Excellent – Over the last 35 years I have always purchased Panasonic TV's as I have found that their quality is second to none always giving very long trouble free use. The last CRT unit I purchased in 1995 is still working faultlessly, replaced only for digital reasons. Since purchasing 2 Panasonic TH-L42U20A LCD TV's this year for my lounge & family room,… Read more
at I might add a very good price, I feel nothing has changed, the picture quality, sound & general user friendly operation is as expected from Panasonic equipment.
I read from prior reviews that the TV is good as it is only a 50hz unit, not sure if the reviewers are referring to the mains power frequency?
I watch anything from fast action movies to slow detailed documentaries, I have found zero judder problems at all, also as I look at my remote I find I have a working mute button.
Overall a Great Panasonic Product that I would very highly recommend! Easy set-up, very good value for money, low running costs, great picture quality, good sound system, looks good and is easy to use/set-up with the remote control. None at this time!
Good – This TV is worth haggling over. Both Good Guys and Myer were willing to take $200 off. Good Guys came in at $879. Even at 50hz the picture during sport is very good (full HD cricket is awesome). No problem tracking fast motion. Bluray looks great. Everything dead easy to set up. It might only be LCD, but at that price you get a very good TV. Great… Read more
picture (if using good right accessories), good price, good connectivity No "back to last channel" or "mute" on remote
Good – Bought this as a bedroom TV (a little too big I know, but you get used to it pretty quickly :) ), and it is a really nice unit. It cost $999 (+80 for 3 years extended warranty) from WOW, which was the best price I could find anywhere and believe me, I looked! We have a 50" Plasma in the lounge, and this is our first LCDTV, it's 'only' a… Read more
50Hz set, and depending on who you talk to this is a bad thing or of no consequence. Honestly, after owning it for a couple of weeks now, I would say yes....judder's there, but you only ever really notice it on slow horizontal panning shots, and it's not so bad that it's unwatchable or really irritating. Footy on OneHD looks great. I only use the HD channels, and have so far been pretty impressed with free-to-air picture quality.
We also bought a Panasonic BR player (BD-65) to go with it, and BR's look excellent (minor niggle mentioned above aside). A small tip for anyone getting this TV and certain movies/shows looking 'grainy'....play with your picture modes. Dynamic looks great when you first set it up, and switching to one of the darker-looking 'Cinema' modes might seem like a bad option when you first see it, but after a minute or so you forget how dark it is and enjoy the grain-less picture much more. The PS3 also really shines on this TV, with an awesome picture for games which I love.
We've basically taken it out of the box, turned it on, and started enjoying it. I'm sure for those that really get into it a better picture can be achieved, but we're extremely happy with the set as is.
Good stuff Panasonic :) Nice design, great sharp picture. Everyone seems to love the Panasonic remotes, but me....not so much. They need a few more 'short-cut' buttons for basic functions imo (only a minor personal gripe though).
Slight judder on slow horizontal panning
