Philips CD Soundmachine AZ1837/79

Good product – I bought the phillips cd player for personal use, and I am very pleased with it. It has a full sound and a good tone to compliment any style of music. Compact and portable. Good buy.Buying another to give as a gift for a twenty something I am sure it will be a winner.
- Date Purchased:
Useless for my purposes-I run a meditation course and need easy access and control of CD content – The Radio access is fine and the USB access is good and when I use my music player by line-in, it is also excellent. HOWEVER when I play a CD with my discussion group, it is disaster. When I 'pause' the CD for a discussion about the section we have just heard, it is OK for a few minutes, but if we talk for more than 5 minutes: whammo...Cannot go on from where we were as the machine apparently has an auto-cutout that drops it back to the very beginning of the disc. Not good, if you happen to be about 45 minutes in. No way to get back to where we were. This was not indicated on the machine, the box, nor in the enclosed manual at the time of purchase.
Had it been shown I would never have bought this player.
It needs to be really spelled out at point of purchase as I am sure I am not the only one who has bought a machine that will not perform as expected. I have never before used a player that will not hold the pause until you release it, yourself.Apparently I have chosen a Phillips which does do this. MISTAKE. l liked the USB and line-in facility. Good strong sound. Full sound. Has some sort of built in power mode that cuts player off if paused more than 5/6 minutes.
