Burning smell after a using it ten times – Has worked perfectly until the last time I used it, where it started smelling very burnt and the juice even tasted of burnt plastic. Only juiced chopped up apples, ginger and peeled grape fruit. Very disappointing after only using it around 15 times. Second time this has happened to me using a Phillips appliance.  Show details

Great product, long life, excellent results – Ive had this for about 5 years. I use it probably 5x per week. It has kept on going with no issues. Its easy to use and has a good yield from fruit and veg. It is also easy to clean and i was attracted to it as the pulp goes into the bottom of the unit rather that being shot out into a receptacle. It makes it much more compact. I just recently… Read more ·  1

replaced the filter basket (blades) as they were quite blunt (the pulp was coming out quite wet) and a little blocked. It was reasonably priced and now works like new again. I reckon ill easily get another 4 years out of this. I juice, apples/kale/beetroot/carrots/celery/pear/spinach/limes.

Brand new - won't work – Bought on sale in December. Haven't kept docket or box. Went to use for first time in March. Assemble correctly but won't turn on. Nothing happens. Waste of money as I can't use the warranty - my fault of course but still very disappointing. Repair shop may cost more than original price.

Disappointing product – I've had this juicer for a while and used it sparingly during summer. Decided to use it again, chopped up everything and nothing happened when it was turned on. Pretty annoyed. Mum has the same model so we tried hers. Same thing. Two juicers and neither will work. They are both in good condition and were not over used at all. I'll be contacting… Read more

Juice with plastic – When washing up after the first use, I noticed that the plastic at the bottom of the feed chute had been scratched. The rapid spinning motion of the produce had managed to significantly take off a fair bit of plastic and into the juice. Not idea for anyone using this for it's health benefits. It's made of low quality plastic feels and looks cheap… Read more

The design was intended for easy cleaning, however the integrated waste compartment means you can't place a plastic bag in the pulp collection bin and easily dispose of it once you're done.

Smelt of smoke after few uses then motor burnt out – I used my juicer for mainly carrot juice. It worked well as was reasonably easy to use and clean. After a few uses i smelt smoke, but not on every occasion. I continued to use but i did notice black smelly discharge left on bench where the juicer had been. After dozen or so uses the motor blew up. Very disappointed. Did not purse warranty will not use Phillips again.

worked well but now pulp stays very wet – we were very happy with the juicer. it worked very well, we juiced all kind of fruits and vegies, but now since recently the pulp stays very wet so it seems something has changed with the machine, but i have no clue what. it is very easy to use and juicing is really fun and healthy. Motor problems – I have only had my Phillips juicer for a couple of months and the motor smells like it is on fire ! What should I do ? Such a shame I like the juicer and it was easy to clean. Not sure if I should purchase another one as the motor seems to be a common problem

Burnt out Motor in 3 uses – Purchased this item from Catch of the Day and after using it correctly 3 times - the motor smoked profusely and burnt out.. Catch of the Day stated they do not carry stock and could not replace it.. Phillips Australia advised me that it is not their problem and I should deal with Catch of the Day.. This is very unfair considering that Catch of the… Read more

Day has advertised 2 year manufacturer warranty and neither Catch nor Philips wish to take responsibility.

I was offered a refund from Catch but I would have preferred a replacement juicer - I will be taking this matter to Fair Trading as someone needs to be held responsible. It is very sad that a reputable brand like Philips does not take more precaution in dealing with online merchants that disrepute them.

However from reading more reviews on here.. it also seems to be a Philips machine fault that these motors are burning out so quickly.

Motor burnt out after only 6 uses! – Purchased this Juicer Online from Catch of the Day late November, 2014. I used it a total of 6 times and during the last use a strong burnt smoke smell started then it immediately stopped working! NOW I read Online reviews (here and on Amazon, and elsewhere) that many, many people have had the same issues with this Juicer from Phillips. Numerous… Read more

people reporting that they have been returning the item up to 5 times to Philips, so this is a known problem with it. I am very upset that Philips would continue to sell units with known issues. I have sent an email to Philips Australia Customer Care today and await their response. I have asked them if this known issue has been resolved as I do not want to be re-returning units like others have. This is the very first item I have ever purchased from Philips, and it does not reflect well on them as Company to still be sending out faulty units considering faulty reports Online go back to 2012! Very disappointed, to say the least as this was a gift also. **** I will edit this review when I get a response back from Philips Australia as to how they are handling this huge issue. ****

My favourite juicer – Bought this juicer from Costco with the citrus attachment. Very impressed. It has a small footprint which always is a plus in any kitchen. Juices fruit very well, and the citrus juicer attachment is the best I've ever tried. As a lazy bachelor, the easy cleaning of this unit is its number one attraction for me. Strongly recommended. Disappointed customer – Bought my first Quick Clean a month ago, was very happy with it. Easy to clean, looks great and didn't take up nearly as much room as my previous Breville. Pulp was dryer too. Unfortunately a big piece of the chute broke off while juicing after 3 weeks and I returned it. The salesperson told me it was the second one in two days to be returned… Read more

for the same reason, and suggested I get a different brand. But I went with the Philips again. Here we are a week later, and I'm not so impressed. The pulp is really quite wet, we're getting little chunks of fruit and veg in the juice and this morning it 'choked' on a piece of lemon, spinning around the bench with smoke coming out. When we checked it there were plastic shavings in the pulp. This juicer gets the highest recommendations from Jason Vale, the 'juice master' which was why I bought it. I guess it's going back again. Easy clean, looks good, space saving Unreliable. Wet pulp, bits of veg in the juice

Malfunction after a several months' usage – I have been juicing for many years and purchased this machine as we liked the design and claims for high juice extraction. For the first few months, it seem to work okay. However from the offset it was a lot noiser than anticipated to the extent that my partner has to leave the room when it is on ! Even worse, it recently started to make an… Read more

extremely loud grinding noise, and we are finding lots of plastic shavings in the waste disposal section. It also emits a burning smell, so either the motor is defective or the cutter is somehow grinding away the plastic housing.

Luckily we're still under the 1 year warranty so plan to take back to the store asap. Attractive design, compact Malfunctions after period of use - Burning smell, extremely loud and plastic shavings found in juice and waste basket

A Good Juicer (For 2 Weeks) – Bought this as our first juicer and used it every day for the first 2 weeks. Motor burnt out and smoke came from the base of machine. Money Well Spent – In the past I have purchased 2 other Juicers as well as other "gadgets" that have gathered dust in the back of the kitchen cupboards as they were too much trouble to use because I had to do so much preparation beforehand. them. I had contemplated another juicer with a large chute, however when I saw the Philips Juice with its much neater and smaller foot print I decided to give it a go. Impressed? You bet..not only does it take whole apples, large carrots and other large pieces of fruit and veggies with ease, it manages to extract every bit of juice leaving only very dry pulp in the waste container. Juice delivered is delicious without being "grainy" as with some cheaper juicers and cleaning up really is amazing quick - no nooks or crannies for bits to hid in. Even the metal sieve rinses clean easily. A bonus is that it looks good enough to sit beside my coffee maker on the bench without taking up much room, therefore "reminding" me to have a regular healthy juice. All in all I love it and have recommended it to others. Everything. This product does exactly what it says.

Worst buy ever – I bought the Phillips quick clean juicer , for home use, it blew up filled my kitchen with smoke within 3 weeks. Took Phillips 5 weeks to send out a replacement which also blew up after 3 weeks. Phillips after sales service was slow. For a brand such as Phillips this is totally unacceptable. For a juicer that was used correctly, to blow up not once but twice shows there is a problem with this brand

Watch what you drink – Seems a better machine but not until I realized that the shaving plate had grinded part of the plastic casing. shaving plate on the motor, the same problem happen. I had returned the 2nd machine to the dealers and was replaced with the older model with no refund as I was told that I am the only one with such complaint.

Last week while I was on a business trip in Singapore, I saw it on display and there was this demo set with part of the plastic casing shaved off, which the Sales Personnel was not aware of.

I hope to raise this awareness to those who had this model and to avoid having to drink plastic lace juice.

Works a treat! – After much research, I purchased the Philips Avance Juicer. Three uses later and it has proven to be a hit. Despite all the research into a product before purchasing the same, one can never know what to expect. This product, however, is perfect. Quiet. Juices effectively. Cleans up so quickly! It's quite big, but it's sleek so it isn't too obtrusive on the kitchen bench. Show reply

Best in this style of juicer – I have recently trialed 8 juicers and I have settled on this one. I is super fast and is easier to clean and store than the Breville juicers. I also tried the Sunbeam Juice drop (too small) and several auger and gear style juicers. All were very slow, had small feed chutes and really struggled with apple, cucumber, celery and some others. … Read more

Centrifuge disc / basket has smaller holes than the Sunbeam and Breville which means that fibers are less likely to become stuck and this means that it is easier to clean. Typically a problem with other juicers of this style.

My only criticism about the Phillips is that the waste hopper is a bit on the small side and to empty the hopper you will need to disassemble the juicer, reassemble and keep going. I managed to get 1x1.5L jug per empty which is okay for me. the trade off is that you have a smaller footprint on the bench as there is not external hopper, this is a plus.

This is a juicer that you will use day in and day out. It is super fast to juice (less that 5 mins for 1.5L) and fast to clean.

Have fun. Speed, Ease of cleaning, Smaller footprint, Looks sexy Waste hopper is a bit on the small side

Brilliant juicer! – For years I owned a little cheap juicer that was great for my once every month or so juice. Started getting serious about juicing daily, and it blew up within a week. I borrowed a friends Sunbeam for a few months and loved it, but it was huge and took up so much space in my small kitchen. The Philips Avance is big, but more so in height, and it… Read more

has a small footprint so takes up much less space on the bench. It easily juices whole apples without a strain and claims to provide 10% more juice than other juicers, which I have found to be true - the pulp comes out quite dry. Cleaning is easy - the pulp is pushed into the bottom of the juicer, meaning you don't have to scrape too much mess off the lid. The claim from Philips is 'easy clean in 1 minute' I can clean it in 1 minute, but I prefer to be slightly more thorough, and take at least 2 minutes....Its very easy to pull this machine apart and put back together. I love the extra spout provided (a no drip one)so you can turn it to the side after juicing, and you don't end up with a sticky juice puddle on the bench. My juicer also came with a free book - not just a booklet, but Jason Vales Juice Master book, 180 pages of fantastic juice recipes! It also comes with a 2 year warranty which is rare these days. If you are serious about juicing more than once a week, I would highly recommend the Philips Avance. Fast, powerful, looks good, easy to clean I can't fault anything about it.

Good but not perfect – After using an older but high end breville juicer for the last few months I needed to retire it (I managed to drop the cutting basket more than once) and replace it. My first thought was to just replace it with the same (model JE95 ) but the Phillips did look attractive, it's compact design (no extra waste buckets etc) and interesting design sold… Read more

me. I did wonder about the power 800w to 1200w but after discovering my existing machine was only 450w it didn't seem to matter.

After using the Phillips for over a week now the power and the innovative design have worked well however I have noticed a marked drop in the cutting and feed rate of the juicer when processing pineapples and anything fibrous.

The cutting head has smaller hooks or teeth which quickly clog up and almost prevent juicing.

I am not processing big quantities (1/3 to a half of a pineapple and a carrot) and the effect on cutting is very noticeable.

Especially compared to my old machine.

A slightly more aggressive cutting head would solve the problem. Compact design poor cutting clogs easily
